Vaughan Williams "Serenade to Music" - Leonard Bernstein conducts

What a unique find to hear Bernstein's perfect casting of an all solo ensemble to fulfill his "vision" of what the he heard in the composer's musical writing., I have never heard a performance of this piece with a more perfect and balanced duet between the orchestra and the soloists and an ensemble that has such a depth of sound...I very special and transcendent reading of this work.

This performance of the "Serenade..." is a great treasure... Such a luxurious array of world class vocal stars making up a surprisingly well-diciplined ensemble...the solo lines, duets , trios and tutti passages benefit enormously from such lavish vocal resources. Bernstein's interpretation is suitably generous in spirit and deeply moving.

Thanks very much for posting this! Is there any way you can also post Bernstein's version of the 4th symphony (also on this CD). I remember it as being especially powerful.
