  • You can read about the unbelievable adventures of Dr. Lloyd Miller traveling and performing through the Middle East and beyond by going to the jazzscope website and clicking on Sufi, Saint & Swinger. Some of the adventures playing and jamming in many musical styles around the Middle East during 7 years are very enlightening and fun reading.

  • lol ee chi mekona she's not even with the beat at all. but don't get me wrong, it's refreshing to see that the afghan culture is being represented. :)

  • Dear friend,

The instruments here are totally traditional Afghan not the western harmonium which came to India through Christian missionaries and then invaded Afghan music. The only time I have ever used western instruments in eastern music was to demonstrate the correct way of playing piano like a santur not with any western techniques, or cello played like an oud or setar also without western techniques. I just did that video to correct bad usage of piano which we must avoid. Dr. Lloyd Miller

  • Salam,

Actually, we insist on the traditional instruments, santur instead of harmonium from Christian missionaries that has no quarter tones and sounds European lie pipes but not like surna of duduk. Santur was in Afghanistan probably since the Achaemenians. Rebab, tambur, dilruba & dhol would be great but in Utah we only have ourselves. Examples of Logari on our Youtube sites have guests like Aziz Herawi or Dr. John Baily. On one video we have typical Logari music from a tape. Dr. Lloyd Miller

  • Nice traditional dance. This is the first time I have ever seen such a video with western ballad style. The music is smooth but not dominant, perhapes the reason western instruments. Does it leave everlasting impressions? Perhapes, yes :) It's being posted to pukhtunwomen website by anonymous person.

  • this is very nice however, i do suggest using instruments used in traditional logari music.
