  • Amazing. Congrats. I would never have the patience to do that

  • There are a lot of close intervals...seconds and thirds. It seems like it lays out on a guitar pretty well. Some of the McCoy solos and things by Brecker or Bergonzi that have a lot of pentatonics and suspended arpeggios might not lay on a guitar as well. I've seen guys play Brecker transcriptions, so I know they're possible.

  • nice

  • just amazing

  • nice.... do you know flight of the bumblebee? i think it would be a great song for you to try^_^

  • This is very impressive I mean having learned Coltrane's solo of this note for note BUT Jamie Aeborsold does include an uptempo version of this on his 2nd John Coltrane play along. I'd love to hear your own soloing to this!

  • @robertd1253 my version of the tune is on myspace.com/pjrasmussen. see the info on the video

  • Great!

  • Your chops, how did you develop them?

  • I starting playing 4 hours a day one summer...I did one hour of scales in the morning before work with a metrenome. Then an hour of the same thing after work for an hour before dinner. Then I transcribed lots of Bebop.

Playing fast isn't harder than playing slow, it just takes more time to get there, but its all the same thing. Playing slower is much harder, really. because there are so many more variables people hear, other than a blur of notes.

  • @guitarman2221 what scales exactly, like did you go through all the modes or what? Because i would love to develop these chops

  • @xXEP1CF41LXx I didn't worry about scales for a long time...mostly I transcribed lots of bop-- that uses the information from modes but in a practical, musical context. Modal playing is very different from playing a tune with a lot of changes, so practicing scales/modes isn't the answer on something like this (although it is a great way to look at the tune later, once you can hit all the changes.)

  • @guitarman2221 hhhm, im gonna start transcribing then.

  • Beyond impressive PJ, it's completely sick!

  • Excellent!!!

  • Bravo. Really very, very impressive.

  • Well done man! 5 stars ;-)

  • Wow..............

  • amazing...
