FYI: New tool for apoptotic detection check it out: pSIVA (Annexin XII) is an Annexin based, polarity sensitive probe for the spatiotemporal or kinetic analysis of apoptosis and other forms of cell death. pSIVA (Annexin XII) binding is reversible enabling researchers, for the first time, to detect transient PS exposure which is associated with normal physiological processes as well as with reversible or rescuable apoptosis cell death events.

I think they are talking about the activated caspase 3 which is activated in the begining by the proteins binding to the surface of the defected cell (the work of T cells). Once activated caspase detected it will eventually activate the caspase end version that will cleaves the cell protein, lysing the cell, and recycling it later. That is my understanding any way, I am still to get grip on molecular biology as well.

how can caspase-3 be a marker for EARLY apoptosis? I don't get it....it is the last protein involved in the pathway of apoptosis
