I am going to shamelessly and unabashedly steal parts of this for my improv solo in grade 4 Rocschool, anyone care to guess which song I am working on?
@TheBlazingPenguins Very good, of course the whole blues thing gave it away huh? I'm doing grade 5 now. Learned 5 of the six pieces, but still tightening them down. How are your studies going?
when i improv i use alot of blues licks i am always at the music store and others blues licks always sound a little like this where as mine r different . i deff be steraling these licks lol thanks
How about a lesson on playing a solo over a harmonically stacked chord progression...like with 7 or 8 chords that change every bar or bar and a half. that would be sick.
sweet.
good lessons
thx

Do you hold the pick reversed (using the round side to hit the strings)? Thanks

@frusciantestrat99
Na, I just hold it the standard way. Probably hard to tell in the vid.

When you come off the string after the full step bend from D to E at :38, how do you keep it from sounding?
tempuser29 3 years ago
The 1st finger (which is on the 2nd string) slightly touches the string preventing it from ringing. Hope that helps.

Mixolydian scales with dominant arpeggios thrown in ..
tropics1020 3 years ago
I dont know.. It doesnt seem like Mixolydian to me. It'd be more of a minor-type scale wouldnt it?
Jack741 3 years ago
Yeah It's minor blues pentatonic with major colors added. Tasty!
mccormickn 3 years ago
Sounds like Mixolydian and Major pentatonic on second listen.
If he were to have played minor pentatonic over each chord it wouldn't have sounded very good.
hmm Your right he might be playing some blues licks ove4 the A chord.
Hopefully he can give us a some insight!
tropics1020 3 years ago
I used...
A minor pentatonic
A Mixo
D mixo
E mixo
and the arpeggios or each chord (A7,D7,E7)
there is a link in the description to scale/arp charts.
