I believe that was the straw that broke the camel's back with Hassan's situation. It was no fault of his - it was a bit stereotypical but I liked it. It worked in my opinion mainly due to the stuff going on at the time.
I cant remember but WWE were getting hell from Spike i think about Hassan and in the end they just had to remove him! Shame really he was the best heel at the time and creating a large cult following!

Man, this dude would have been AWESOME! I was just waiting for him to win the U.S. Title! That would have turned the WWE on it's ear. THEN, he would have won the WORLD TITLE and everybody would have lost their minds! For Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff to always talk of how controversy is great for business, they passed up on a TON of money by letting this guy go.... bad move!

Muhammad Hassan was a beast...None of the controversy would've happened if people weren't so irrationally xenophobic. Even though he wasn't actually from Iran, that shouldn't matter. That's like saying the hate would have okay if he WAS Arab. Both his character and gimmick were screwed and now he's pretty much retired.
Only thing left is watching whatever YouTube clips I can find of him. What a shame.

Hassan got dumped because he was too controversial and hit a raw nerve in patriotic blue blooded American citizens. WWE lost advertizers behind Hassan. This almost seemed too real, emotional and not humorous for tv and little kids.

There were no winners in introducing this character to the WWE sadly. The general WWE fan base were exposed as racist ignorant people, the network, UPN, gained power in dictating what the WWE did (after they requested his character be removed) and Copani, who played Hassan had a promising career in wrestling ended because of the terrible ordeal he had been put through - being a heel is one thing but the fans/journalists took it too far with Hassan and the WWE did nothing to help him
