  • I ran across this video on accident about a year ago. After watching it once it changed my views on many things. I bought the book Be Here Now, and I try to live each day that way. It brings peace to a weary soul.

  • God bless each and everyone of us . We are constantly searching for meaning.

    We made it here ,!!!

we are beautiful , vibrant living beings , Who made a choice to incarnate on earth .

Love & kindness is our work.

  • wtf is this?actually without the music it will sound more stupid lmao plz open ur eyes for something more logical...

  • This is such an Amazing Video! Actually, this is the first video of spiritual talking with background music which I like it.

Can you pls tell me what is the name of the song and the artist in the background?

  • whiz bang .....no need to repent, no mention of justice, righteousness, etc. Really, no mention even of God.

  • die to live

  • Oh. I could get used to this part of youtube.

  • This is just...One. big B.S.

  • I can feel that beautiful energy reaching me :) sat nam

    by Eternal Youth Empire.

Thank you for being a profound inspiration!!!!!!!!!!

  • it got so bright in here, all of a sudden

  • I owned a copy of this book during my days(daze) spent in the Haight Ashbury.

My first introduction 2 Ram Dass~

    Timothy

    :o)

  • At first I was kind of skeptical and had a weird mindset going into it. I had no idea what it was going to be about. But I can honestly say that after listening to this, I have yet another view of what the 'true' world is, and not just what we label everything as.

  • Absolutely amazing.

  • If some could make an entire album of pieces as moving as this, I would buy it.

  • It almost makes you want to die...

  • Ram's wisdom combined with this haunting music just bring it home for me...

and to "jkweddingtrancesux"...what the hell do YOU know?!?

Come home to find your Mother on the couch, dead, maybe you will understand...

  • Pretty intense!

  • 5 people are Immortal

  • @andyinfo59 I've discovered a little about the music. It seems it is called 'Be Here Now' and was composed by Gary Malkin for a CD called Graceful Passages, a multi-faith CD of 12 tracks especially to help those people who are facing death. It seems that all the tracks have voice overs, including 'Be Here Now', but it is possible to contact Gary Malkin via his web page at

  • ( "-")

  • ( '.')

  • kill it...

  • I love you Ram Dass <3

  • sublime-

  • This is a very beautiful video. For the purposes of using the music at a rememberance service can anyone point me to where I can buy it or what it is called. About 15 people have made this request but no-one seems to know. Thanks and Om Shanti

  • @andyinfo59 ok, youtube didn't want to give you Gary Malkin's web address, but it will come up in a search engine! Metta

  • amen ram dass =)

    divine blessings XOXO

  • I want the music! Awesome video.

  • thanks man

  • Nice RD...nice : )

    Namaste'

    a

  • What is the name of the song thats playing in the beginning?

  • where can i find this as an mp3?

  • fiction feels better than the truth, unfortunately.

  • @ColinN16They say truth is stranger than fiction. Many physicists are revealing theoretically that what we perceive as myth is the truth. Science will embrace a spiritual movement by "Reading the mind of God."--Stephen Hawking. We seem to forget how amazing the expanding multiverse is. Like drops of water.

  • takes so much more courage to be kind and compassionate then selfish and ignorant....lets show gratitude for the people who were brave enough to see this and share there message with us....you know of this when sombody gives and asks nothing in return..like ram dass and this message for us

  • @murza25 we missed the point and we have to try again. but this is all part of the nature of the structure

  • This was beautiful. I will be sure to look into more of Ted McKenna.

  • @d3sire4fire what is calling the present the present, is the past. isn't that funny?

  • thank you ram dass

  • @InvisibleRefugee2 I think acceptance is a better word than forgiveness. Sometimes forgiveness is a bridge too far, however hard we try. In life, yesterday is just a memory, good or bad, the future a fantasy, it may never come. The reality is in this moment. Life is often not satisfactory. If you can accept that and don't kick against it you can achieve peace and freedom beyond your wildest hopes. May you be happy!

  • what are we all essentially living for? we live to ? Yes we live to die. Its almost an oxymoron in itself. But it makes and is sensible. From day one we are dying , when we come out of the womb, we are not living getting any younger. We are dying , aging, our vehicles are morphing, but are souls are here to experience it all ..in all its beautifully tragic glory.

  • Is there any way you could send me an mpg of this it would be wonderful!

    ऊँNamasteऊँ

  • This video makes me feel like crying.

  • Do go gentle into that good night!

  • Gets me everytime! :]

  • The soul (jiva) is not God. It too is eventually destroyed. Atman alone is God.

  • This was absolutely beautiful... Thank you :)

  • Alan Watts drank himself to death, kids. He was very, very unloving to himself.

  • An amazing combination of power and tranquility like that of a grandfatherly old soul guilding you accross turbulent waters till you reach a peaceful harbor.

  • Yes, beautiful words, but choose life. God has given us life and we need to cherish every day. Some of us can take only one day at a time. Some can easily look towards the future. For those who can't see a tomorrow, that is okay. All of us are born with imperfections. Most people hide their flaws. Be kind to your soul. Breathe. Simplify. Crappy as this world might seem, you have a right to exsist. Feed your mind and soul good, healthy thoughts and actions.

  • i always imagine death to be like what it was before i was born, i just knew i existed, not here but somewhere else. part of the universe's consciousness and matter. i wish to be buried when i die, straight in the ground and i want a tree to be planted over me.

  • Very nicely said.

  • my mom died a month ago, and I hope this is how she went.. I know she struggled with it, who wouldn't.. but I hope that she had that peace..

  • @minjofu

She is one of 7 conciousness lvl ;)

If she only whanter survive she was on 1 if she was siociety human she was on 2 if she whanted domintate others she was on 3 if she knowed love but couldnt ecspression it jet she was on 4 if she was cioncious about cerating reality she was on 5 if she know pure true she was on 6 with unity with 7 7 is all cionciousness conectet to SUPER one cionciousnnes what I call Only GOD.

But one more think she is free now more than there.

  • @Yoyo378 Thank you.. :)

  • @minjofu i am confident in it. you (c) should be too. peace and light...

  • i wish i could take this advice and apply it to life...but things get crazy and all this stuff goes out the window :/

  • MarioLoco03 i know exactly what you mean and how hard it can be to stay diligent to such advice. be reassured that you do have control over whether or not you let those crazy things keep you from applying this advice to your life. i know its easy to say but just dont give up and YOU CAN achieve what dass speaks of !!

  • just come back to it again and again...

  • the gaps in between his words really allow you to listen and hear what he's saying.

ram dass man, beautiful video. peace

  • whats the background song called, anyone please??

  • birth and death are the most important moments in our lives. everything in between is just experience

  • Yes i like the way he reason, is good to hear his voice.

His ways are singular and serene reflections, search

and behold to Soul elevation of Love higher meanings

We are eternal Divine Being the All One in Now

    Thank You.

  • Everything changes even the soul, although it does not apparently die, it does evolve.

  • love it

  • living & dying is cool

  • I just find it hard to get into this new agey relaxation stuff.... he takes 8:30 to say what could be said in 2, mostly because there's a lot of fluff and dramatic pause in there.

Unfortunately this is what people think I'm recommending when I send them to Alan Watts. They think "oh Watts is one of those feel-good nature sounds yoga guys" and he's not. It seems to me that this video IS like that. All motivation, no content. Where's the philosophy and conversation?

    Sorry I don't get it.

  • You mightn't like the presentation here, but Ram Dass's stuff is very complimentary to Watts, especially Watt's later stuff.

  • where do you hear Watts saying "there are other realms that this one" or talk about souls and such? You must admit that Ram is more mystical than Watts, who approaches things from a more observable, gritty, science-based angle.

  • @planetdarwin your on to it ... Watts is the man, no BS just amazingly articulated truth!

  • @planetdarwin Look up Ram Dass stuff. This has been edited for the dramatic effects you have indeed listed.

I also like Alan Watts philosophy. They both have deep-rooted taoist beliefs in their philosophies. So yes, watts was a, 'feel-good yoga guy'.

  • @juicifergizzle

I'm open minded, and yeah I looked up some Ram Dass pages... I'm not saying he's a fool or anything but there's definitely a more mystical, "have faith in things you cannot see" angle there, and anytime you start talking about souls and spiritual realms as if they're literally real, you lose me. You don't hear Watts doing that unless he follows it up by saying "I'm being metaphorical". I get the sense that Ram prescribes literal belief in souls, afterlife, etc.

  • thankyou

  • Even so, i'm sure there is alot we can all learn from his beliefs/teachings

  • Comment removed

  • life experience the best teacher

  • well...hence i used the word "complimentary". I don't know that Ram is more mystical, in as far as I understand mysticism...it's a different type of mysticism. I agree, Watts is less inclined to the supernatural.

  • Thanks for sharing the love, the knowlegde

  • wow, just wow

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Beautiful creation.

  • I haven't heard of this guy before. I get the impression he is religious, with his promises of heaven, etc. It's kind've a turn-off.

  • @planetdarwin you should do some research on him. Fascinating story. Start with google.

  • @planetdarwin

ram doss is not religious. he teaches what he learned from taking psychedelics in th70s

  • no he teaches what he learned from his time in india

  • seems people are confused, he is religious, but not in any way associated with major organized religions, he does follow aspects of buddhism and taoism and ideas in hinduism, but his views are far more broad than sticking it to a labeled religion, and yes his first experiences of spirituality came from the 60's with experimentation with lsd and mushrooms...but that was only the spark that shifted his interest. research him, hes a beautiful person, thats rare to find.

  • wow, fantastic video =]. i subscribed

  • beautiful.. absolutely beautiful.

  • inspiring... big thanks thou art thou

  • can someone email me the song in the backround , thanks

  • Choose a quiet, dimly lit place, and light a candle. Place it on a table, and sit down, facing the candle. Get yourself quietly relaxed. Gaze into the candle flame, staying relaxed and calm, watching the flame. Now focus your gaze at the place where the blue color of the flame meets with the gold~this is the point where your potential for sight can be developed. Absorb as much energy as you can........xo

  • lol

  • what do you mean by potential for sight?...

I wish this mind the peace it seeks...

  • better find out more about meeting your Maker following death.

  • you are the maker

  • youve got it...totally agreed.

  • And death shall have no dominion ..

Dead men naked they shall be one

With the man in the wind and the west moon ..

When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone ..

They shall have stars at elbow and foot ..

Though they go mad they shall be sane ..

Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again ..

Though lovers be lost love shall not ..

And death shall have no dominion ..

  • Ram Dass voice and the way he talks is so touching.

Shivers run down my body.... Thank you !!

  • completely love this....tears flow down my face

    OM

  • Best wishes - incredible light.

  • death is a friend, like one who is always by our side, waiting every day... but giving us more time as we ask for it and are grateful for it, until one day we go with our friend. it is not a friend to be afraid of, but to embrace, as it makes us more aware of the gift of life as we realize the inevitable could occur at any moment.

  • I think I'm not too afraid of my death, but I do fear for the death of others....of course this may have to do with my atatchment to other beings. I guess the idea of now disappearing and all the people I know kinda brings me down....yah I guess it comes down to people once again.

  • Most love ly. Beautiful images, music and message. Many thanks to the producer and artists includig Alex Gray.

Notes- Let go of the past with forgiveness. Let go of the future without anticipation. This wisdom will serve us well in life and the moment of our death.

May all beings live in light.

  • Wow Beautiful! Thanks for posting this. .

  • what song is this? its beautiful, I'd love to learn it

  • Complimenti! Davvero stupendo!

  • This is great - A subject many people don't like to discuss or think about too much but this is done very well. So, glad I am not afraid of death as I want to live every state of being to the fullest. Even my dreams are full of life and vivid color, they are like movies of the past and future.

  • what does it mean to be here now?how do you accomplish it?

  • by bringing the mind back to present moment. Not thinking about the past of the future. Accepting the present moment as it is, good or bad, non-judgmental of all your experiences. This is mindfulness!

  • How have you become mindful.

It is easier said than done.

Not criticizing just look for answers,
