Hi i found a sparrow today outside my house, it seems to be in shock as i think it fell from the roof , it is a baby i have put it in a box outside with water bedding and some bread crumbs but it wont eat is there anything i can do??
Baby birds need to be fed the right kind of food and fed often. Insufficient food results in insufficient keratin for normal feather development. With lack of food, the young birds' feathers will continue to grow, but there will be "hunger stripes." The feathers in these areas will be paler, thinner, and fragile. These weak areas can cause a feather to break during activity. Flying will be impaired... or impossible. Call a wild bird rescue center or a bird vet when you find a baby bird.
My neighbors told me about an injured Blue Jay a few months ago. They didn't know what to do with him, but I did. Next morning I took the Blue Jay to my friend at the DEC who rehabilitates birds.
I have a sparrow too! She is so sweet! and she's with me, right now, fly arround my head, neck, arms... xD
