  • Very, very nice. A friend I work with turned me on to these guys. Thanks for sharing this video.

  • Great singer wonder what happened to him

  • they do have a good sound . wonder why they never caught on. but I guess they do have a following.

  • He did this along with Jacksonville Skyline on his recent solo acoutsic (Ashes and Fire) tour and though everyything was great, these were 2 of the best songs he played.

  • lol never seen him with sideburns. Man, were they good though.

  • o, what a band!

  • reckon the kid knew how epic and timeless these songs sounded as he was writin em?...

  • seriously have watched this every day this month. i cant stop. wish there was more footage from this show...or any show really.

  • will always love this band. Whiskeytown rules!!!!!

  • Hey! I was at this show! It was at the Hi-Pointe. At the time I worked at a local drum shop; drummer Steven Terry (the only guy I've ever met in danger of winning a Mac Davis look-alike contest) came in earlier that day with their road manager to buy some drum heads. At the time i'd only heard of Whiskeytown but was already going to see the show that night. They said "come on down and we'll put you on the guest list". Very nice guys.

  • A few years later I moved to Seattle where (unknowingly) guitarist Phil Wandscher relocated. He'd heard about me (I'm a motorcycle mechanic) and called me up to get the carburetors synced on his old Honda CB750. When he told me his name I said "Phil Wandscher? From Whiskeytown? Dood! We've met before in St. Louis!" It was pretty neat to get to work on his bike and hang for a while.

  • @cogscretin Which one is Phil. I know his brother Chris.

  • @thangamajig The (left-handed) guitarist.

  • he's playing whiskeytown songs again...

  • Ryan with mutton chops LOL

  • Didn't know Lionel Messi had a band, what a legend, good voice too!

  • Stop by my hand to listen to my band coving Ryan Adams songs. Thanks Ya'll

  • Great freggin' tune

  • my favorite song by them...best song of 97!

  • Still find myself coming to watch this..just to see him and WT so young, hungry and on top of their game.

  • Look how tiny the Telecaster looks in his hands!

    Dude is 8ft tall Ibet.

  • he's kinda short actually: )

    probably like 5' 8"

  • @SirCosmoBonsor actually Ryan is only about 5'6" or so.... must be the angle of the camera :)

  • man, thats already 12 years ago.

  • RYAN!!!!!!

  • man they were kids

  • fave wt song ... so good!

  • Greatest Song of the '90's, if not eveha!

  • Classic is right... Damn I love this song.

  • Effing classic video IMO

  • RA doesn't seem to have fond memories of Whiskeytown but this sure sounds good to me!

  • Totally agree...a comeback would be very cool, one day.

  • Sorry, a little off topic lol. But seriously this video is so awesome- it reminds me the bands that play at the venues in Athens, GA.

  • God I love him. Between him and Marat Safin--I'm a goner

  • Totally...especially the whiskeytown stuff...just such excellent music.

  • Hell yes- Marat Safin!

  • I know things are going great for Ryan and The Cardinals, but it would be great to see Whiskeytown come together again.

  • oh its not!!!

  • It is Ryan Adams. This is a great fuckin song too. Young RA, just feeling the sweat and grind of the road, making a name for himself and doing what he loves. Great clip.

  • this can not be whiskey town??? with ryan adams??? how old i this???

  • I like the version on faithless street a little better. Damn ryan looks young here. Ha! he looks like a college frat guy! Hahahahah

  • Can we get a good album version of this song put up on youtube?

  • this song touches me too., a certain place and time, namely college for me, even a certain bar and girl. pretty amazing really this song

  • hey anyone know what happened to the other video of this song? The one in like 99 or 00

  • wicked telecaster!!

  • i think this show was at the hi pointe

  • i wish there was more good whiskeytown footage out there

  • I think it's Mississippi Nights, but not positive.

  • He sure has changed a lot. But don't we all.

  • Wow. That was awesome! Thanks for posting this gem!

  • Excellent stuff! I totally missed these characters. They remind me of the Flying Burrito Brothers.

  • As much as I like Flying Burrito Brothers and respect that they came first, Whiskeytown just blows them away for sheer songwriting and evocative brilliance.

Check out "Strangers Almanac" -- that has to be one of the finest albums ever recorded.

  • agreed.

  • That was fucking fantastic. Thank you, thank you for posting this!!! My favorite Whiskeytown song.
