I have a pair of these but the shop I bought them off didn't know what they were. They have successfully bred in the past, but I think the male just became a female and I'm very confused so i really need to know what it is to research further! Thanks in advance!

  • The fish at 0.35 secs, with the lines. It's yellowish in colour...I want some like that...

  • @zaow82 I believe you're talking about the venustus.

  • @BradMcAdam Kool, thanks man.

  • love ya fish!!

  • Hey bro, it would be nice if you can put up a list of the type of Cichlids that you have, both with the scientific names and names that a lot of the common people can recognize. :)

  • @TheHmo0b This video is 3 years old. There are some missing and some new additions.Do you want a particular name of a fish you saw in the video???

  • @BradMcAdam Lol, that would be a hassle since I wanted a list of all of the type of fish you had. It's fine, bro. Thanks for your time though!

  • can u put rocks from the outdoors in your tank

  • Sure,as long as they're cleaned.

  • I was told from a pet shop I cant keep anything in with malawi cichlids so i never bought them but I think I will now :)

    Thats an amazing tank btw

  • do cichlids need air pump???

  • Not if you have a good water exchange.

  • @BradMcAdam What other fishes or sea creature can u keep with cichlids. ive gt a tank with cichlids but what some more differentiation in the tank any help. nice setup by the way.

  • I have loaches and plecos.

  • @BradMcAdam i heard u cant mix loaches with malawi because malawi are more aggressive.. i have pleco...is there anything else i can have mix with them.

  • @BradMcAdam caan i mix them with these typpes of loaches:

    Clown Loaches

    Kuhli Loaches

    Dwarf Loaches

    Yoyo Loaches

    Zebra Loaches

  • @bobmanay I have clown and burmese border loaches. Not sure about the others.

  • Very nice and right up my street, top job!

  • I can sit and watch this all day and not get bored.

  • Thanks Blue.I'll be posting another vids soon with the rock re-arranged.

  • how many can i have in a 250l tank? i have heard that they eat plants? so what type of plants do you have. ?

  • I keep a german red,3 females, and grow out a bunch of fry in my 55 gallon.Depends on what fish you put in the tank. Some are larger than others.

  • I like to feed Cuke 'n Zuke type veggies too. My South Americans love it! I have to say, those Burmese botia are a nice touch! Are you against adding any Tanganyikans? I could understand, but I can think of more than one of the Lamprologus and Julidichromis species that would look amazing in there.

  • @Theonlydump I actually have 3 Gold Sexfasciatus,A Daffodil,and 2 Kapampas in the tank now.

  • The water is slightly cloudy? What kind of filtration system you are using for the 225 gallon?

  • Great tank ,Looks assume.......

  • Man, you got some fucking bad ass cichlids bro. Its awsome, im so jelouse of your tank and ur cichlid lol. Im rating it a 5/5 Great tank.

  • nice

  • hey check my Malawi tank out

  • whats that fish with the black stripe running across it, the creamy color one thx

  • I think you're talking about the female Red Empress.

  • Thx man

  • fantastic...

  • Beautiful Fish! What do you feed them to make them look this good!?

  • New Life Spectrum pellets, spirulina flake, and cut shrimp occasionally.

  • If those rocks fall over there going to scrape your tank wall or crack it, they have underwater compond that hold rocks together. Doctors foster and smith has some on their site.

  • The rocks took a month to get situated like you see.I restack them every other month and never have a problem.Once you do it a few hundred times you get good at stacking rock.

  • lol got to agree with you there i to am a master at stacking rocks, is this tank really 225 gallon looks the same size as my 55 gallon.

  • It measures 72" X 24" X 30" tall.

  • so decieving some of these vidios. nice tank!

  • Thanks

  • Beautiful tank...awesome color in your fish. Well done.

  • nice tank

i finally set up my 75 g cichlid tank. how long did it take for your fish to get like that. because all of mine are juviniles.

  • Buy some Acei. They are the fastest growers in my tank second only to the venustus.

  • Nice tank. Cichlids 4 ever!! =D

  • Lace rock.Water changes are easy after you do it a couple thousand times.

  • nice tank but it must be a pain to change the water

btw what kind of rocks are those?

  • hey man, nice tank!

i dont see any pictus catfish in there or am i being blind?

  • hey man this might seem like a dumb question but i bought a 55gal tank from walmart and i swear that your tank is on the box

  • Great tank man! I love the rock work.

quite obvious you've done your homework and made the prefect home for these Cichlids.

I might have to copy this a bit when i set up my 125G.

  • sweet. nice tank its great. how lone did it take to set that up .

  • can you recommend some mildy aggressive cichlids for a 55g? this is what i have already: 2 Yellow labs 2 Afra Cichlids 1 peacock cichlid 2 electric blue johannis 1 red tailed shark 2 bumble bee cichlids 1 eureka red cichlid 1 demonasi cichlid 2 azureus cichlid i would like to keep about 25-30 and i only have 14 so please tell me if my combonation is good and name some other, hardy and semi aggressive cichlids. awesome tank!
  • you really don't want to overload your tank or create aggression due to lack of space.I think what you have now is fine for that size tank.

  • like the tank the catfish is cool, what kind are there

  • Pictus.

  • nice, still prefer discus and plants though. lol.

  • wow ma quanti sono a convivere??xchè mi chiedevo quale capacità abbia il tu filtro??L/H

    ..Nice Thank Sure ;))

  • What catfish are those in the tank? They look really active and seem to not be nocturnal.

  • They're Pictus catfish.

  • BEAUTIFUL TANK I like the look of the white sand it brings out the colors of the fish.

  • Thanks.

  • very nice tank !!!

  • how much australian dollars do you think it would coast to set up something like this? how much did you pay? including Fish And Sump just a guess doesnt have to be exact

  • whats that at 00:57

    looks awesome

  • It's called a Red Empress.

  • great tank!

Im thinking about getting cichlids but is my tank to small, it is 80 litres/18 gallons.

  • Yes,too small.

  • wow nice tank..i always wanted something like this, do you mind giving me some info on how to set up something like this and where can i buy those type of cichlids, thanks

  • Fish came from my lfs and the background is lace rock with the outside back glass spray painted krylon blue.

  • what is ifs and do you use a wet dry sump? thanks for the info...

  • lfs is local fish store and I use a pro-clear aquatics sump rated for 300 gallons.

  • can u keep loaches with african cichlid without the african cichlid disturbing them much?

  • This tank has 5 burmese border loaches and four clown loaches. They are not disturbed whatsoever. They mix in quite well.

  • alright... i guess ill get me some cichlid then... thanks for replying

  • @BradMcAdam I didn't even see the clowns, they must have been napping. :)

  • @Theonlydump They hid behind the rocks for 2 months before they started swimming in the open.

  • grwen stefani lol

  • Hey Brad, what's that spotted fish on second 00:52 on the left? Is it a peacock (Aulonocara nyassae)? Because I've got one just like it and can't figure out.

  • O.B. peacock

  • how many malawi can go in a 25 gallon.....

  • not many

  • hey how many times did u clean up your tank?

its gona be troublesome right because of the sands right?

  • It's not too bad with sand. All the trash accumulates on top of the sand and you suck it up with a hose while doing water changes which occur once a week.

  • Excellent rock work! is it lava rock? What fish and what quantities?

  • It's Lace rock.

  • Fish:

    blue dolphins,red zebras,oto.lithobates,OB peacocks,burmese border loaches,clown loaches,red empress,taiwan reef,gold nugget pleco,tiger pleco,king tiger pleco,acei,yellow labs,venustus,fryeri,lamp. mooris,lamp. sexfasciatus(gold)...I think that's it.

  • Nice looking set-up but how did you keep the rocks from tumbleing. Be very careful with that. looks good though.

  • They were stacked a little at a time over a two month period.Very secure.I know it looks scary but I wouldn't risk a 225 gallon aquarium getting destroyed.

  • Splendid set up! I just didn't have the courage to build my rocks as high. Now I've seen how deeply they excavate the sand underneath, I'm glad I kept the rocks at a mere 12" tall. Thank you for posting!

  • Nice tank brad..
