NBC is blocking a public domain video I have posted, it is not for profit, there is commentary about the Video, It is not the entire news cast and therefore a clip, It is a new news piece and not the same intent of the original broadcast.

They refuse to respond to the dispute.

@Vuorenpeikko If you're using the original work and all you are doing it reposting it with a translation, then most likely no. It's not transformative, or creative, plus they might want to sell it in other languages themselves, and they would reserve the right for that.

Oh man, so many grey areas. I do wish copyright would get refined or replaced. I love Creative Commons, but it too has grey areas when it comes to the non-commercial license...

However the logic toward the beginning is somewhat comforting: would the copyright holder pursue you, and if they do would discussing your stance have favorable chances of working well with the copyright holder.
