First, dont compare artillery to pistols. Its not because you have 2000 watts of kicker shit that it sounds good. 400 watt subs can own much higher wattage equipment if tuned right and if you have the right combination of amp, headunit, wiring, capacitor, etc. Very good point though: GET DECENT ENCLOSURES!!

ok im not acting tough over the internet. both were prefab boxes, 1.5 cubic ft per side. i have heard pioneers, i have heard kicker, ive heard jl. name a brand, i've heard it. i prefer pioneer (premiers mostly but that line has been switched to Stage 4) so you must be a die hard kicker fan. The 12inch pioneer subs i plan on buying will but 12inch L7s to shame any day. end of story

how do you have it wired? 2 ohm or .5 ohm? b/c if you are running it at .5 ohm obv it will heat up quick. Also hows your voltage?

its wired at 1ohm. my voltage is bad, my alternator is stock. so when i turn up the bass, the voltage drops to as low as 9/10 volts. even when its idle i cant go past 14 volts. getting a 200amp H/O alternator soon
