just my opinion of your preparation (as a bartender) is you take a bit too long putting all the ingredients into the shaker, all that time your ice is melting and just diluting the cocktail. Not a big deal for a casual home drinker, but if you were serving a customer, they might have a problem.
@everydaydrinkers ive watched a good 30+ of your vids, i was wondering if you happened to have anything with Buchanans liq. i know u have some vids with Jack D. in it but idk if i would want to mix buchanans into any of these other recipes. thanks bro, salud!
@rl876 because they're all awesome. It's like saying Bosc Pears and Bartlet Pear's are all the same; it's a generalization, they're all going to have different levels of "orange" taste, including something more of a bitter orange peel, a softer more rounded orange, or the standard super sweet orange of a triple sec (almost a citrus soda in its flavor)
@everydaydrinkers Yeah thats true, first time I tried the three I couldn't really tell the different, but when I tried them again I could try the difference
Triple Sec is sweater
Cointreau has a more Orange Citrus taste
Grand Marnier, similer to Cointreau but the taste is bit more robust.
Really it all comes down to what you prefer in your taste. I Prefer triple sec myself, usually because its cheaper XD
The grand marnier you are using is not the same as triple sec and cointreau. The "red" grand marnier cordon rouge is a mix of orange liqueur and cognac.
grand marnier cordon jaune or the "yellow" one is just the orange flavored liqueur.
and btw cointreau is the first and original "triple sec"
The music was there because we "learned the hardware" that the camera's audio input makes line noise no matter what you do. Apparently that's a common problem with the brand and a bunch of other prosumer cameras.
So, that was an effort to remove the annoying buzz.
Orgeat pronounced (OHR-ZHA) is actually an almond syrup flavored with orange flower water, it will not" feeeze" on ice, this is far and away the worst attempt at a Mai Tai that I've ever seen......I'm shocked
Sorry. We also have recently done the "Trader Vic's Mai Tai" since this episode. Both are completely different styles and recipes.
Orgeat has also been told to me (rather confidently) that it's pronounced OR-GAY (which is what many mixologists say). I've heard both ways and both people are THEY are right :)
As for "freezing" on water, it gets super thick and sits on the ice causing it to not mix well. Don't know what to tell you, but I witnessed it occurring so... :)
You've came a long way huh

@gyped we re-made this specific recipe as "Trader Vic's Mai Tai." This one we got from a recipe book I believe.

Derrick this is unreal. This reminds me of like...a dating service video.
You're all calm back then.

It's not easy starting a pilot episode :) Trying to figure out what I'm gonna say, what I want to cover, how long it's going to run, etc. :)

You'd get fired for taking 5 minutes to make the drink......
abadam01 2 years ago
Nobody has ever fired me for making a drink at a party. Odd, maybe they're just too patient?
Nobody has ever fired me for creating a how-to video either. Odd.
Maybe you just missed the point? Probably. :)
