  • @ All those who are wondering about the fate of this bus: It is laid up till 2 Nov 2012 and it possibly will not be deregistered as all SBS buses have a standard 17-year lifespan except those with lifespan extension which will have 19 years. Keep your fingers crossed! :)

  • What's with the rego SBS0000M at the beginning of the video?

  • This look more nicer than Scania! Scanie = Colour Too Childish... Logo = Nice XD

  • These MANs have Malaysian Gemilang bodies, right? Hong Kong also has a few of such but they are 18.280NL273 A91, a higher member of the HOCL series. 4-speed 864.3E-DV500 as well.

  • @bearchoirfan Yup. SMRT is currently taking order of 200 MAN A22s with Gemilang bodies as well but the demonstrator SMB138Y had a MCV Evolution body possibly from UK or Egypt. (MCV is an Egyptian company with a subsidiary in the UK.)

  • some of this buses look like scania k230ubs

  • Dude i dont see tis kind of bus out ther

  • is this one same as the SMRT new bus?

  • @garfieldandfriends1 no is Yutong ZK6126

  • should take a ride in this bus model.. i tot it was a carbon copy of the new scania wheelchair friendly bus until i saw the front bumper..

  • i love this bus. the ride is plenty smoother than the KUB's, thanks to the good suspension system. its also not as jerky as the KUB, due to it being heavier, and it feels more planted. it stops and goes smoothly, not like the jerky KUB.

  • We Hong Kong have these but are 280ps versions (18.280NL-A91), also 4-speed (864.3E-DV500). They work well even on the steep Tung Chung Road near the airport on Lantau Island.

  • not bad singapore sbs buys MAN..

bt no use even they gt scania and man.they won't go above 70km/h disgrace to the engines...malaysia is the prefect 1.they know hw 2 use.

  • its not the engines.

i understand perfectly that the engine in the 18.240 produces only 850nm of torque, and the engine in the KUB, the scania DC9 arent particularly powerful engines. but its the speed limiter that prevent the buses from hitting top speed. even sbs's volvo B7RLE, with 290bhp and 1200nm of torque, cant get past 60kmh due to the speed limiter in effect.

  • Sbs Transit OC500LE looks exactly the same as HOCL 18.

  • OC500LE is SMRT's

  • Don't you know that SBS Transit has OC500LE too?

  • yes

  • @EugeneXL : Yes, I ever saw them. They were nice. But why is it not popular?

  • @fifaparadise Cos this bus was rarely seen, plus the fact that it was running as a industrial service and there was only one if I was not wrong

  • @EugeneXL There was supposed to be one but SBS Transit rejected the trial and now it is registered as PA9588S.

  • @EugeneXL Nope. SBS Transit's OC500LE is also bodied by Gemilang but it looks slightly different from SMRT's, don't even talk about this. Just go to SGBuses.com and look under 'Special Events'. Then you will see 'Chitson OC500LE tour' on the side. Just click that, 'repaint' the bus in SBS livery in your mind and you will get an idea of how it looks like as compared to this bus.

  • service 17 have lots of this bus .... not fair , only few buses is this kind , other is the scania K23OUB and old buses

  • lots of this bus??

  • But now don't have.Maybe , it has returned to service 6

  • from what i know..theres alot of K230UB but only one of this MAN 18.240 HOCL-NL

    lol

  • but i saw it yesturday sv 17 the BUS is service again

  • Hey any1 noe whr is it now? It was on SV17 for a while then apparently disappeared

  • i think it went for servicing.

Now is back on the road.

    :)

  • hey there my friend.Any idea why did SBST got a 4-speed instead of a 6-speed?

  • not sure whether it was MAN who purposely fitted the Voith 4 speed.

  • @tintinspartan You can order MANs with HP-2/HP-4. It's the customer who makes the final decision.

  • @tintinspartan The face looks like the production batch of SMRT's MAN NL 323F In this bodywork.

The only difference is the top of the bus.It is look like some sort of handsome guy's hair

  • did they replace N113CRB with this bus?

  • no. The K230UBs were meant to replace them

  • anyway is "Tamago" working in a bus company?

  • man bus only have 1 in singapore but next year they are buying 400 more scania euro v

  • Thanks for your sharing, hopefully SBS Transit can purchase more MAN buses~~

  • nope merz is cheaper...

  • Do these buses have Voith DIWA transmissions?

  • Yes. This bus has a 4-speed Voith DIWA gearbox

  • Engine: MAN D0836LOH, 240 hp

    Transmission: Voith DIWA D854.5

  • sbs should have bought OC500LE instead,de big MB bnadge make SBS look m=nice, cheaper den scanias, now SMB1H look so nice on SMRT bus!

  • YOU ARE RIGHT namelessrp

  • @namelessrp SBS Citaros also have a MB badge, but not as big

  • OH GEMILANG BODIED... this bus runs with cng ar?

  • No, this bus is powered by a Euro-IV Diesel Engine

  • Did you know...?

SBS transit chose scania over this because the scania was cheaper.

  • heard a rumour tat scania bought over man trucks and buses company...but it could be otherwise tho...coz i heard over the news but i wish i have the facts...haha correct me if im wrong...

  • dont know about buy here buy there la but my dad work in SBS so i got the insider's info. (:

  • MAN Truck & Bus are very similar to Mercedes Benz Truck & Bus.
