ive owned a dozen of these 3800 cars and ive always broke that same mount!!!! so i built a solid mount. was too easy and the cars feel much better after doing that
Hi;I have a 1992 buick lesabre the Transmission when in drive starts off in 3 rd gear i have to put it in 2nd to take off 1st is also 3rd.SOMETIMES IT WORKS CORRECTLY GOING FROM 1TO 3RD AND OVERDRIVE.DID YOU EVER COME ACROSS THIS PROBLEM.THANK YOU
Very common on these cars are the strut mount/bearings go bad causing a clunk noise in the upper part of the strut tower. I've replaced many of these and always takes car of the clunk noise.
FWD Motor/tranny mounts really take a beating, having to hold the multiplied torque to the wheels, not just engine torque. My cadillac has HYDRAULIC motor mounts, the front one lasts me about 10K miles, or 500 green lights, whichever comes first, heh. Luckilly they're guaranteed for life from the parts store. If that was a V8 you could almost weld it solid, but 90° V6s are a little too rough for that.
@BigBoy4005 I always use steel square tubing and make solid mounts for these cars. It makes a WORLD of difference in how they drive. buick puts those cheap rubber junkers on there to soften up shifts for grandma and grandpa. Takes tubing, a saw, and a good drill bit. and bolts.
Yeah I was gonna tell ya the way to check engine/trans mounts is to watch the engine while putting it in drive and reverse. Clearly you need new mounts, i've seen worse but those do need to be changed. Try eBay they got some dirt cheap (usually)
oh come on we are all rednecks I know , but a missing oil cap ? a true redneck mechanic would at the least have an old pair of their under shorts stuffed in there !!!
@towrecker Why do people think its missing? Its off to the side at the begining along with the plastic cover. And its right there on the engine from 2:06 to 6:06 then I take it off again lol.
@bah53 your right , I did not notice it when it was there , let me guess it has to come off to get the cover off ...oh well my bad , but you got an extra view when I came back to watch it again to see lol :)
@nikyjim The one that was on that vice grip fell apart. The other stand is made from a metal fence post and doesn't really stab into concrete to well lol.
I have a vacuum leAk at the throttle body from the two lines that meet there. One line is coming from the fuel pressure reg and other not sure but both combine and meet at the throttle any idea how to fix?
@Jcal022 You would probably have to see if an auto parts store would have it, if not you might have to go to a junkyard. Another option is to make your own with some adapters and some different vacuum lines

@towrecker Yeah it has to come off to get the cover off. No big deal tho, I just thought it was funny that two people commented on it.

Inject some 3m window sealer in there. It will be like solid motor mounts.
