Installed this little add-on to keep the bar from rolling. It's been on there for about 6 months and hasn't loosened, but I'm sure it may need to be tightened someday.
Youtube doesn't allow links so got to Flickr and search "people" for mrbinder182 and you'll see them.
Little late to the discussion, but I installed this same set up a couple years back and for the most part it works great. However, the bar does roll about 90 degrees to the inside as your grip naturally loosens during pull ups. I'm finally In the process of seeing how I can stabilize the bar with ring clamps and eye-let bolts. Perhaps if I had more of a "vise-like" grip this wouldn't happen...

i was expecting to see this guy do a pullup or two -__-
Won't this eventually loosen up the beams and possibly damage the house?? i mean ur hanging about 200lbs from two beams
MisterEdwinR 8 months ago
@MisterEdwinR Not a chance, even at 300 lbs, on flexing the beams.

How do you keep the bar from rolling? I noticed it rolled a little when you tightened the plastic tie wraps.

The downward pressure when your weight is on it prevents it from rolling.

Yeah, wont the bar roll when you try to use it if you don't secure it more tightly?
TimTrotterSays 1 year ago
Nope. I use it regulary and it has never rolled. Your weight pulling down on it prevents it.

why not just put holes in the floor joice and slide the steel pole in there?
kkarnis369 1 year ago
Because you'll hit your head on the subfloor.
