  • This was so sweet. I love your accent. Russian is my favorite accent and Ireland is my favorite country. I would love to see it someday but it's highly unlikely unless I win the lottery haha. I love the song you added. So pretty.

  • Hi There! Yes- The following litter of 5 kittens, all made it very fast through the cat flap. But I don't think this is necessarily a sign of higher intelligence. The litter from this current video clearly had the right idea, but it just did not happen. I think there is an element of chance here, just the right push, that is learned fast if successful has very different outcomes. In natural environment, these different outcomes could amount to life or death. Not just intelligence plays a part.

  • I love, love, love your video! But .... whaddya mean "Goodbye Kittens" ??? Where'd they go?!?

  • The kittens were about to leave us to find very good homes- We give our kitten to friends of my children, we know the people, we know the kittens will be well looked after and will make other families like our very happy. Most cats are spayed in Edinburgh, so there is a big demand for kittens. We give our cat mum rest with contraceptive instead of permanent infertility.

  • @Skymaker69 Awww :(

  • The song that comes on with the iPhone - if you have the music file, could you sned it to me? I'd love to have it. :)

  • Hi Sightless- Well, I have it on CD and I am not supposed to share this, any way you could get the CD looking for the music in the info I am giving with the video? I like your Nick Drake Song.

  • Thank you! Nice to see fans of his, it's seems to be a rarity. I'll give Jamie the good news.

  • I really like those little kittens, those are really cuties! :)

  • what are their names

  • The kittens have a new home now, one was called Miso, they are all girls, another one Zen (or something like this) and a third, I actually dont know, but Ill ask, she went to my Spanish friend, so something Spanish no doubt. Cute. We always give kittens to friends, Edinburgh is in a huge shortage crisis of kittens, because people are afraid to have pets who remain fertile. But a kitten can make a child so happy, how could we resist not giving this to someone.

  • Have they jumped into the tuna salad yet?

  • Not yet, but I have suggested to my children a few time to stir fry them. ;-)

  • Do you get your cats spayed?

  • Thanks Doug, I have rarely met someone equaling your humour! When we were at that concert, particularly when hearing the second of these songs, Kala Kalla, all I could see were kittens moving from period of intense activity to sleep. Not unlike little children.

  • Their development is certainly fast but have they mastered the iphone yet?

Iron Brew is great but red lemonade available in Ireland is amazing! Another great drink I had was fizzy(!) iced tea that was on tap in Amsterdam. Cold!! Many countries have great beverages.

The music fits with this piece very nicely, very enjoyable. Kind of relaxing.

  • That learning is fascinating to me. They have not yet mastered iPhone but I had once convinced myself that I could teach them some form of communication through pocking their head onto pictures. Psychologists have tried this apparently their attention is too short. We can also see in these footages high level of distractibility. And also interestingly, though there is a lot of socialization going on, I have not yet come across behaviours that look like empathy towards each others.

  • Maybe cat empathy is exhibited very differently to human empathy. Some people think cats are cold and selfish and they can appear like this sometimes but they are very empathic. They just show this in a very subtle way.

Empathy between siblings would probably be unlikely when they still compete for attention and food etc. Also, cats in the wild being more solitary than dogs means they have more of an individual mentality.

  • Good point- I was more thinking about the mum when she went out and left her kitten in- maybe her way to show empathy is actually to model the behaviour her kitten could learn. Also, clearly she responds with extreme attention and tenderness to the call from her kittens and this must be some form of empathy too. It is amazing to see how she responds when she hears her kittens at 1 week old crying on the video, just would rush in from outside and look around everywhere by the computer.
