This is so much fun! I'm 73 years old now and my Mom bought this and other funny records way back in the 40's and 50's. I remember Yogi quite well. The fight part reminds me of my own family when we all were by Grandma for Christmas and my drunken Uncle Nick came over demanding that Aunt Wanda and the kids all come home. Well, Grampa didn't take lightly to that. He threw down his fiddle and threw old Nick over the porch rail into the snow! It's something I will never forget.
I loved finding this! I thought it was spelled "Jorge" though so no wonder... lol. My sister (RIP) and I used to LOVE this and we transcribed the words and have modernized them a bit.
my friends mother, i sang this for her non chalont, so she called her own mother. she was so excited. so when my friends grandmother came to town, she would allways say "wheres my song?"-she got to hear this, then she died a year later. RIP!!!
Great Stuff!!! I had a friend I used to work with who bought his wife an ironing board for Christmas. Yes they are still married. He may be the last REAL man on this earth! She may be the last REAL woman also!
My uncle song this song. When he had lost his memory and lived in a home he could still remember every words to it and sing it to me at Christmas time. He could sound him just like him. He was a swede from MINNESOTA.
OH MY GOD! thank you so much for posting this album!!!! my grandpa played this for us kids (now in our 40s) sooo long ago! I once had a tape of it which is long gone and I thought i would never hear it again! This takes me way back and I cant possibly thank you enough! We swedes and norskis gotta stick together! it brought joy to our family through many generations thanks for keeping it alive!!
Harry Stewart (October 21, 1908 – May 20, 1956) was an American comedian and singer, who often performed as Yogi Yorgesson, a comically exaggerated Swede.
Harry Stewart was killed in an automobile accident in 1956 while returning to Los Angeles from an appearance in Ely, Nevada. He was survived by his wife Gretchen, son Steven and stepdaughter Eleanor.
for all of you: back in the days of VINYL and at its peak, This song was re issued every year in the 45 rpm section, along with other xmas faveorites. Every xmas season, in the 45 section of Rainbow Records. So in the 1980's (late 1980's ) I bought a copy. Thanks dr demento for turning me on. Also I am 38 years old now, and I have the cd of Harry Stewerts material. Yingle Bells is also very funny. THIS STUFF IS HILARIOUS. Harry Karry. yogi died in the 1950s-car crash. fell asleep at the wheel.

Enjoyed this one back in the 60's every Christmas when I was a young lad. I have not heard it on the radio (Cleveland, Ohio) in over 25 years. I also found Augie Rios with his 1958 hit, Jim Backus with delicious, and some old Mitch Miller favorites here on you tube. These oldies are buried in the past. Thank you althazarr for coming through with Yogi Yorgesson.
@PHILLYCHEESESTEAK26 Thank you for tuning in to my channel! I'm glad I had this one to share with you. I'm definitely trying to post all these great oldies so they don't get "buried" into obscurity.
My grandfather played Yogi Yorgesson for us as children, and we heard the songs hundreds of times, but we still laughed just as hard each time.....thank you so much for posting his songs.....Merry Christmas!!
I remember my grandfather used to play this ALL throughout the month of December, but a few years ago, on my thirteenth birthday, he died. But now I play this ALL the time. It's so great.
Same here. I used to listen to this one and Yingle Bells every Christmas when I was growing up in the '50s. And then through my travels, etc. I either lost them or broke them. The other 78s I loved to listen to were "Cool Clear Water" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky"
@fsadamo I do have Cool Water posted on this channel by the Sons Of The Pioneers and will get Ghost Riders In The Sky by Vaughn Monroe posted after the first. Merry Christmas!
@althazarr. First, sorry for the double posting. I wasn't sure it posted the first time. Thank you for letting me know. I found the Cool Water.
I found Ghost Riders elsewhere after searching for the one I listened to while growing up. Even the Sons of the Pioneers version of Ghost Riders can't beat Vaughn Monroe, and though Johnny Cash is my favorite country singer, he can't replace Vaughn Monroe. It took me a while to remember, but at 68, I was still able remember the name "Monroe" :)
@Superluminal100 Because most of them either don't have the capability of playing records anymore, or they have no idea how many classic Christmas songs actually exist and what they're missing out on. I'm also posting Christmas music from old Lp's and 45's on my other channel if you're interested. The link for it is posted on the main page of this channel.
I know it's not Christmas, but this was my Daddy's favorite song. I lost him when I was just 14, but everytime I get to missing and thinking about him, I come listen to this song.
We are approching what would have been his 82nd birthday so he's been on my mind a lot.
@snoopymccormick I understand. I lost my father 2 years ago and he would have been 81 this past July 4th. I'm glad I have this posted to help remind you of the good times you had with your father.
@vinylloung I've got tons of records pressed before 1920. There's quite a few I already have posted. No wax cylinders though. Check out my friend EdisonSquirrel for some of those.
I can remember listening to this on my parents old Victrola.I loved it then..it's just hilarious now and yet brings tears at the same time. It's awesome.Thank you so so much!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!! This song was a legend in our family. Dad always sang it - but I never heard the record cz mom sat on it one night after a party. It was fun to hear Yogi himself!
