  • This is so much fun! I'm 73 years old now and my Mom bought this and other funny records way back in the 40's and 50's. I remember Yogi quite well. The fight part reminds me of my own family when we all were by Grandma for Christmas and my drunken Uncle Nick came over demanding that Aunt Wanda and the kids all come home. Well, Grampa didn't take lightly to that. He threw down his fiddle and threw old Nick over the porch rail into the snow! It's something I will never forget.

  • I loved finding this! I thought it was spelled "Jorge" though so no wonder... lol. My sister (RIP) and I used to LOVE this and we transcribed the words and have modernized them a bit.

I wish the radio stations would play this!

  • my friends mother, i sang this for her non chalont, so she called her own mother. she was so excited. so when my friends grandmother came to town, she would allways say "wheres my song?"-she got to hear this, then she died a year later. RIP!!!

  • Great Stuff!!! I had a friend I used to work with who bought his wife an ironing board for Christmas. Yes they are still married. He may be the last REAL man on this earth! She may be the last REAL woman also!

  • this song is one of my earliest Christmas memories. thanks for posting

  • I come from Jamestown N.Y. where this was a BIG HIT!!!!

  • I alway liked listening to this song every christmas, while in the car...

  • omg!! i found it!!! I HAD THIS ON A TAPE RECORDER WHEN I WAS 13! AND NOW I'M 46! ( I'M NOT GREENFLAME, IM HIS MOM! XD)

  • My uncle song this song. When he had lost his memory and lived in a home he could still remember every words to it and sing it to me at Christmas time. He could sound him just like him. He was a swede from MINNESOTA.

  • OH MY GOD! thank you so much for posting this album!!!! my grandpa played this for us kids (now in our 40s) sooo long ago! I once had a tape of it which is long gone and I thought i would never hear it again! This takes me way back and I cant possibly thank you enough! We swedes and norskis gotta stick together! it brought joy to our family through many generations thanks for keeping it alive!!

  • Harry Stewart (October 21, 1908 – May 20, 1956) was an American comedian and singer, who often performed as Yogi Yorgesson, a comically exaggerated Swede.

Harry Stewart was killed in an automobile accident in 1956 while returning to Los Angeles from an appearance in Ely, Nevada. He was survived by his wife Gretchen, son Steven and stepdaughter Eleanor.

  • for all of you: back in the days of VINYL and at its peak, This song was re issued every year in the 45 rpm section, along with other xmas faveorites. Every xmas season, in the 45 section of Rainbow Records. So in the 1980's (late 1980's ) I bought a copy. Thanks dr demento for turning me on. Also I am 38 years old now, and I have the cd of Harry Stewerts material. Yingle Bells is also very funny. THIS STUFF IS HILARIOUS. Harry Karry. yogi died in the 1950s-car crash. fell asleep at the wheel.

  • I just found this in my pile of 78's broken......thanks for sharing...

  • Enjoyed this one back in the 60's every Christmas when I was a young lad. I have not heard it on the radio (Cleveland, Ohio) in over 25 years. I also found Augie Rios with his 1958 hit, Jim Backus with delicious, and some old Mitch Miller favorites here on you tube. These oldies are buried in the past. Thank you althazarr for coming through with Yogi Yorgesson.

  • @PHILLYCHEESESTEAK26 Thank you for tuning in to my channel! I'm glad I had this one to share with you. I'm definitely trying to post all these great oldies so they don't get "buried" into obscurity.

  • My sister and I listened to this when we were young. Thank you so very much for posting it!

  • My grandfather played Yogi Yorgesson for us as children, and we heard the songs hundreds of times, but we still laughed just as hard each time.....thank you so much for posting his songs.....Merry Christmas!!

  • I think this was the only time we were all quiet at the same time! Boy I miss my dad.

    Thanks for the memories.

  • My elementary teachers used to play this for us kids...way back in the 60's and 70's...we loved it. Thanks for the post.

  • One time I thought this was Yogi BEAR.

  • My brother and I pretty much wore out our 78 record of this. Wonderful!

  • Grew up with this and a few more selected Yogi songs every year as a child(I'm 59!!) and still love to hear it each season! thanks!

  • Is this Spike Jones? Or is it Jorgi Jorgesson? =)

  • @pennerj3 His real name was Harry Stewart. Lots more info on Wikipedia if you're interested :)

@athazarr1 Do you have his song about the office party?

  • Is this Spike Jones?

  • I have been pulling out my hair trying to remember this song title and singer. At last here it is. Thank you, thank you.

  • My favorite Christmas song since I was a little kid (a long time ago)

  • @kornbelt I'm glad I had it to share with you. Thanks for tuning in!

  • I love this song.. Thank you for sharing it!!!! I yust be nuts all year long. hehehe

  • @FoxyAgent99 Thanks for tuning in!

  • I love this song.. Thank you for sharing it!!!! I yust be nuts all year long. hehehe

  • I remember my grandfather used to play this ALL throughout the month of December, but a few years ago, on my thirteenth birthday, he died. But now I play this ALL the time. It's so great.

  • Same here. I used to listen to this one and Yingle Bells every Christmas when I was growing up in the '50s. And then through my travels, etc. I either lost them or broke them. The other 78s I loved to listen to were "Cool Clear Water" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky"

  • @fsadamo I do have Cool Water posted on this channel by the Sons Of The Pioneers and will get Ghost Riders In The Sky by Vaughn Monroe posted after the first. Merry Christmas!

  • @althazarr. First, sorry for the double posting. I wasn't sure it posted the first time. Thank you for letting me know. I found the Cool Water.

I found Ghost Riders elsewhere after searching for the one I listened to while growing up. Even the Sons of the Pioneers version of Ghost Riders can't beat Vaughn Monroe, and though Johnny Cash is my favorite country singer, he can't replace Vaughn Monroe. It took me a while to remember, but at 68, I was still able remember the name "Monroe" :)

  • I love this song! Haven't heard it in years! They dont make 'em like this anymore folks!!!

  • @Brailysgram Thanks for your comment. You're right, that's why I love posting these oldies. Merry Christmas!

  • Why can't radio stations play more songs like this at Christmas. I'm so tired of hearing 5 differant versions of jingle bells every hour.

  • @Superluminal100 Because most of them either don't have the capability of playing records anymore, or they have no idea how many classic Christmas songs actually exist and what they're missing out on. I'm also posting Christmas music from old Lp's and 45's on my other channel if you're interested. The link for it is posted on the main page of this channel.

  • @althazarr Re: Your other channel: I'm going to check that out!

  • @Superluminal100 I know what you mean.

  • How bout "I wish I was Single again. My pockets would jingle again. Id hoop and Id holler just for a dollar wish I were single again"

    Dan

  • I know it's not Christmas, but this was my Daddy's favorite song. I lost him when I was just 14, but everytime I get to missing and thinking about him, I come listen to this song.

We are approching what would have been his 82nd birthday so he's been on my mind a lot.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS.

  • @snoopymccormick I understand. I lost my father 2 years ago and he would have been 81 this past July 4th. I'm glad I have this posted to help remind you of the good times you had with your father.

  • My family has all of the Christmas 78s!

  • do you have anything under 1920 or even wax cylinders under 1900?

    that would be KILLER!!!

  • @vinylloung I've got tons of records pressed before 1920. There's quite a few I already have posted. No wax cylinders though. Check out my friend EdisonSquirrel for some of those.

  • @althazarr thanks

    ill check that later

    nice song

  • I can remember listening to this on my parents old Victrola.I loved it then..it's just hilarious now and yet brings tears at the same time. It's awesome.Thank you so so much!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh, thanks so much for posting this old chestnut!

  • @phoebecatgirl You're very welcome. Thanks for tuning in.

  • hahahahahahahahaahh!!!!!

  • Such a swedish accent :) Funny...

  • Thanks!! This song was a legend in our family. Dad always sang it - but I never heard the record cz mom sat on it one night after a party. It was fun to hear Yogi himself!

  • Thanks! I still have the old 78, and no way to play it. Great to hear it!!

  • thank you much for posting this ! i started crying halfway thru ... not something i'm accustomed to doing. i thought i was a macho guy ! i haven't heard this for 50 years , great!!

  • Comment removed

  • I love that's it's on an old 78. I have a 45 single. A Christmas classic, for sure. Geez, my mouth tastes like a pickle!

  • Weird Al used this basic tune for "Christmas at Ground Zero" a few decades later. I love that tune.

  • Brings me back to the days when dad would listen to AM 920 CKNX and we would hear this song every year at Christmas!

  • Thank you for putting this up.... this was my daddy's favorite christmas song and I remember him singing it when I was little. He passed away when I was only 14 but everytime I hear it I smile and think of him.

  • This song was on a Christmas collection album that my family had back in the 60s. Thanks for bringing back some crazy happy memories.

  • Wonderful! Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

  • That's a good record you got then though.

  • Thanks for listening.

  • Yumpin yimminy! Ya I'm a good Norwegian scandahoovian Knuckle head, and ya I sure know about the drinking about Christmas time. Oh boy.

But then, a little aquavit before the family, and yer okay then! Ya, and Merry Christmas!

  • Ya, ya, sure, Merry Christmas to yoo. ha ha

  • "i end up drinking 12 yom and yerry"

    Ouch.

    :)

Thanks that was fun, I'll have to play it for the kids.

  • Yeah, that's a bit much, but still funny. Thanks for listening.

  • My father got this record years ago in the 40s but it was a 45 rpm. I was just trying to turn it into a Mp3 file yesterday, which sounded terrible with all the scratchy sound from the record and then my cousin found that you did it on YouTube. Thank you so much for sharing! I appreciate it more than you know!

  • I'm glad I had it to share on 78. 45's are not always so forgiving when they have scratches.

  • My favorite Christmas song ever!

  • Awesome! I'm glad your favorite to share with you.

  • Thanks, Lloyd - Another one for my Christmas playlist. 5 stars, my friend! BTW This popped up on youtube's "recommended videos"!

  • Lloyd!!! You have set me up for Christmas this year. I`m going to play these at a friends party. Thay got a blast out of Yingle Bells. Can`t wate for them to hear this one! This is GREAT!!!! Thanks.

  • Fantastic! It's always good to hear that your friends are enjoying this holiday music as much as you.

  • VERY VERY FUN TUNE, Lloyd! Thanks for posting the lyrics so we can sing along :-)

  • Thank you Tink! It's definitely fun to sing along with. I'm glad I found the lyrics too, because he can be a little difficult to yunderstand. :-)

  • 5***** (of course;) LoL!!

  • Thank you very much!! :-)

  • This was the "hit" side of the single, and was "Yogi"'s best known record to date.

  • Cool, I didn't know. I've had this one a while, but only remembered hearing it on Dr. Demento.
