  • Hi! I'm a 4th year CalPoly engineer working on an iOS application for KCPR (CalPoly's radio station). I love this video and would love to include it as part of the application for the background screen/animation, but would like to get your permission to do so first. I can give you more details on the application if this interests you. Thanks!

  • Reminds me of Sim City hah

  • thats is totally my hometown and i miss it so much living up in the big city!!!!

  • dominic marinello your gay

  • loved every second of it, only thing that was really missing was some good shots of downtown on thursday night, that would've been kinda cool to see sped up.

  • Glad to live in SLO county, such a beautiful place.

  • San Luis Obispo County is certainly one the most beautiful places on earth. When you live there for many years however, you have to put up with all the liberals and the California laws and taxes.

  • I need to get out of my city and move down there...

  • This is so boss. San Luis is legit.

  • We're those miniatures?

  • @amazing0187 this is real

  • Made me cry. I miss home....stuck in OK.

  • I feel like I'm looking at a toy model :O

  • Don't park on the street in front of your own drive way OR it is now a $35.00 ticket and SLO needs shoppers SO now the town charges for street parking on Sundays. Slo use to be a neat place and in 20 years,it's gone from fun to NOT fun. Heading to 160 acres out of the way of stupid rules. Sad to say BUT the children are grown and gone. That makes it easy to leave.Thank you KIDS! If not 160 acres, the cash out and Maui 'til I die. SLO hater. Sally in SLO

  • @afgilliland you're an idiot.

  • Awesome, absolutely fabulous! And I thought Palm Beach County was fun! Have to make a trip out to SLO in the future!

  • Great great great!! love the little cars!

  • Great video. Just wish a few of the frames were a bit slower. Top notch!

  • Really well done! Did you use Adobe After Effects for the tilt-shift effect?

  • 4 people have never experienced the magic of san luis obispo. (go back to the valley)

  • How about doing a video showing the process how this was made.

  • Awesome video. At first I thought this was stop-motion or something but after a while I realised it was the real world. I really enjoyed watching this !

  • So awesome my eyes are hurting now!

  • We need some chemtrail timelapse/ tilt shift..

    project cloverleaf- air spraying

  • how did you make this??

  • It almost doesn't look real!?

  • You know, it would be really awesome if you would give Cal Poly the rights to play this video on their video board during soccer and football games.

I am just a fan- but this would be perfect. If you would be interested, I would contact the A.D. for you- it's a really great video and I'm sure everybody would be blown away at a game.

  • Awesome job Robert. I'd love to learn more about the camera you used. The resolution is unbelievable!

  • Anybody else notice Wiz Khalifa @2:18?

  • Wow everyone in the world needs to see this. You are a genious my friend!

  • sexy

  • it looked like Mr. Roger's neighborhood!

  • What exactly is this video? It makes it look like its a miniature town.

  • @Awgez24 The point of a tilt-shift is to make photos look like miniatures! :)

  • I was at that Nas and Damian Marely concert . This is awesome.

  • Great video. I love the part with the Train going up the grade in the Poly fields!

  • heyyy i saw my house and schoooool

  • A wonderful job showing off the place we live.

  • SLO and the surrounding towns are so great. i just moved here for college from los angeles. i cannot begin to describe how much i love it here, everyone is so nice and friendly, its absolutely beautiful.

    i never want to leave!

  • I love what you've done with your tilt equipment! You've shown off our home town to its best advantage! Thanks for the joy your work has provided!

  • I thought all of the buildings were miniature models at first. Crazy. Very well done Robert

  • News flash: Oprah wouldn't like SLO; it's mostly all white privileged (as in money) white people. Oh wait, ha, her show audience and viewers mostly comprise white middle age woman.

  • Cool video. Love it. Great spots locations to see San Luis.

  • Slightly fast but that's ok.

  • hahaha @ 1:06. awesome.

  • robert you freaking rock. werk it :)

  • Very nice piece!!! Brings back some memories that I am especially fond of... SLO is one of Cali's genuine super gems!!!

  • Robert this is badasss!

  • This video is super-awesome, and it makes me homesick. I grew up there, and Orange County's got nothing on SLO. Go Tigers! ... and Mustangs if you're into that sort of thing.

  • STORM THE FIELD!!!!

  • This is great motivation for Cal Poly futures. This video kicks ass...great song!

  • sick video, made my day. attended cal poly from 94-99. great memories of cp and slo. thanks.

  • awesome video... gotta love it!!!

  • Missing SLO out here in snowy Chicago. Thanks for sharing SLO with all of us who cling to our memories from there.

  • is the miniature effect caused by the tilt & shift lens??

  • WHATS THE SONG PLZ?

, plus great example of tilt shift.

  • @03daviest Forever by Walter Meego

  • looks so perfect i thought it was a miniature model of slo

  • Robert, this is amazing. I love the song choice but I encourage you to try re-posting with "Heartbeats" by Jose Gonzales. I just tried it on my own and it synced up very nicely

  • Robert- thanks for sharing this video. I grew up there, and loved seeing my old haunts. Did you do you tilt shift in post using Motion or After Effects? What was the frame rate of your stills? It looks pretty high, like 30fps? The train shot at 25 seconds in turned out really nice. well done.

  • Damn you! Do you have any idea how bad I miss SLO now.

I'm not kidding when I say this video is making me really rethink the direction of my life (well... that and a boatload of awesome memories). Well done.

  • never seen anyone do a tiltshift video, that was sick

  • This video is freaking rad. I love the video. (Do wish the song wasn't clipping throughout the entire thing though) Distortion was distracting me away from the amazingness of it all. Great Job! I grew up there and you really nailed so many familiar and great shots.

  • @mjhoyer For some reason this is how it came out after being compressed by youtube. Thats why I highly recommend watching this in 720 or 1080p, because it not only improves the audio quality, but it also makes the tilt-shift effect much better. -Robert Weber

  • @Weber805 Definitely worth watching at the higher resolution too. Again, impressive work!

  • awesome vid. was this with an actual tilt shift lens? or did u fake it with a filter of some sort? curious just cuz im a photographer and i think stuff like this is cool.

  • Very FUN! I just put of a clip of a SLO murder from back in the day... And a clip from a Paso Ranch 2 days ago. Cheers!

  • The video is very darn cool, but I'm really glad I don't live in that city full of mean rich kids anymore.

  • I feel vindicated for not wanting to move away from this place, after living here since July 2007 & graduating from Cal Poly, June'10. Even if the jobs are scarce, SLO is such a beautiful place to live!

  • Ok, this is freakishly and fabulously cool. As in, shut up I'm going to make everyone I know watch this.

  • I'm the guy with the blue backpack at 1:52. Awesome video!

  • 15,000 views??? geez your gettting famous bob!

  • 1:31 really does look like a toy diorama!

  • Can't stop watching. Music and "tilt shift " sync was perfect! Well done

  • I miss this place. Best place is the world. Cosmic

  • happiest place in the world.

  • That train shot as well as LOVR were phenomenal. Glad I'm still here living the SLO life :)

  • This is amazing! I loved it. Thanks for the wonderful video!

  • This is awesome! My favorite part was the airport and LOVR

  • I miss this city.

  • nice

  • This is so awesome!! It really makes me homesick. I am glad you got our HS in there too!!

  • this is wonderful; made me homesick. you should really consider getting in contact with/submitting this to the CP admissions department. this would be a great recruiting video for Poly!

  • This is AMAZING Robert!

  • I'm the guy on the unicycle. Great to be part of something so cool...that is, this cool video and then SLO itself. The video lets one step back and see, all in less that three minutes, what a wonderful place SLO, in its entirety, is.

  • @MrBabelation ok. my dad is the guy on the unicycle, and i seriously doubt my dad has a youtube acount. so im just calling you on this. but pops if you do have an account... wassup dude!?

  • i've watched this thing like twenty times today, and each time i love SLO a little bit more.

  • There is no place that I love more than SLO. asdfghjkl;'

  • far better than the big O's celebration of our little eden with jenny mc carthy. had to post it on facebook. thanks for the color and fun.

  • i love my city

  • Great Video! I like grade school diorama feel! Did you use a Canon 7D?

  • Gosh I miss this place!! Great Video!!!

  • that was awesome! so proud to live in such a beautiful town. thanks for capturing the beauty!

  • Fantastic video! I went to school at Cal Poly and have since moved away from SLO. I love that area and sincerely hope to move back one day.

  • Excellent video, the toy town, so clear, great color and perspective. Keep going with it.

  • My favorite small town - where folks are intelligent AND they laugh . . . out loud! Love SLO and Morro Bay. - Diana (who's stuck back in Phoenix).

  • no credit to the song? who is it?

  • @thatsricci it says right under description...Walter Meego - Forever

  • @thatsricci walter meego - forever

  • This is way cool, makes me proud I live here. Thank you! :)

  • I like the miniature look from the tilt/shift, but seeing people *walking* kills the effect. I'd try making it look like stop-motion by only using the frames where the people's legs are in the same pose (the "two hikers" shot is perfect for this). Otherwise, the shots of buses, cars, planes, and trains are terrific, and the far-away shots of the sporting events (where you can't make out arms and legs) are great, too.

  • Robert, I'm curious what camera gear did you use and did you actually use a tilt shift lens or was that all done in post?

  • excellent. i DID like the music.

  • LOVE the video, not wild about the music. Quite enjoyed the "tilt shift" effect - that's a new experience for me. Thanks for showcasing our wonderful home. :-)

  • That was amazing man!!! Very well done =)

  • great job man!

  • Can't wait to get back to SLO for CP Wine Festival in April! Heard you made this video for a class, hope you got an A.

Also, did you get any inspiration from the Coachella 2010 video?

  • That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Great Job!

  • im in this video! 1:09 on the bike skidding

  • Really well done. And makes beautiful SLO look even better.

  • THIS.IS.AMAZING.

  • Awesome job man!

  • super cute! yay SLO!!!!

  • Just needs to be played to SLO's anthem: Come Alive by Still Time

  • Great video :)

  • Nicely done!

  • homesick comment seconded. :(

  • Now I am homesick. Thanks a lot! You will have to come make a video like this of Portland.

  • This is great

  • Wow Robert, awesome video of the Happiest Place in the country.!

  • sick video!!!

  • This is so totally cool...

  • This is great!

  • So, what hardware did you use to create this TS video? Lens? Body?

  • Loooooove this!!!

  • Super awesome video

  • Very, very nicely done!

  • Very, very nicely done!
