are these lights legal to have on your car if your a civillian even if you don't use them on public roadways? They seem like their easy to acquire online. Same question regarding sirens too.
@BoxcarFrank Depends on the Light Laws in your state. I assume that no state tolerates a siren. Amber lights should mostly be permitted though. As for Red/Blue/Clear(White) It depends on your state. Here in PA, you can put Blue lights if you are a Volunteer FF. Chiefs and officers can also have red and clear along with blue if they choose to (normally police is Red/Blue, fire is all Red. If you aren't a FF, you can only put amber. Visit PolicePosers, com to view light laws for all states.
@b747dude sirens you CAN have, BUT only if you remove siren tone, aka leave that annoying ass cop horn. check laws first and foremost, but that horn makes people check themselves lol
@ZImpresive it just so happens that they are for 2011 but ive seen a couple of undercovers already they look sick also they are bringing the caprice back next year check it out just look for 2011 caprice
is it true that they take all the good stuff that makes the car a little faster out of it before they auction it? oil cooler and change the tranny? this would greatly change my mind in purchasing one
no...they never take anything off...same gears...same tranny...same air filter..same oil cooler...it would be to much work to do that for every single car that they auction....BUT u have to pick the right year..and models...state patrol cars are faster than city cars...all depends what department you buy from..some departments have mroe goodies than others
Awesome, thanks ffor the bit of info. I want one really bad cuz I think its cool as hell to have a cheap luxary vehicle that could keep up with almost anything on the highway. I hope I find a good one with the right "goodies" for affordable price
aint nothing luxary with the crown vics. try to buy a 2003 and up...anything older is really beat to shit...i mean..i have had one..and i got rid of it cuz i kept getting beat in races...there fast..but to heavy to keep up with lighter cars...i would recomend you getting a grand prix gtp...or a regal gs...those supercharged luxary cars are fast...check out my supercharged gtp on my page..
I dont mean Luxary luxary... But for the most part, people think of a crown vic as being sort of a luxary car, for older farts but like you said with the right one with the year I was reading has better suspension, rear end gear ratios and really heavy duty trannys. Just putting a cheap supercharger on it alone would make it an awesome car. And for the price of a really nice one seems to be great
ya but if u supercharge a vic..u have to fordge all the internales..and u will need to basicly rebuild the hole engine..sure putting a supercharger would be nice..but its a heavy car..u wont break into 13's easy...
Well I picked up a '99 California Highway Patrol car at auction for 3400. Had 2 functional spotlights, laptop mount, PA system, sirens, head/tail light flashers, lightbar, traffic bar, setina pb400 push bumper and 2 hideaway LED grill lights. Damn good deal!
As said above they keep everything on it, well except for the lightbar. I had a friend in high school and his actually had all the red and blue lights still functioning. It had a rocker switch under the dash on the drivers side.
The fact of the matter regarding the stuff on the car is--it depends on the jurisdiction (whether or not you can have certain things on the car). As far as I know, in TN, you can't have blue lights, or the stripes. Red lights--firmen. I dont think the Brush Guard on the Front adds too much weight, that would decrease fuel consumption to a noticeable degree (not too sure though)
Please dont give legal advise unless you are licensed to do so. Federal, State, Municipal laws all apply and they are all different depending exactly where you live. I would not want him to recieve a citation, fine or worse. There are many specific and general laws regulating not only usage but possesion of emergency lighting on a vehicle in every jurisdiction that you must abide by. Blue, Red, Green, and yes even Clear and Amber! So consult an attorney as they would represent you in court.

Exactly. A buddy of mine had flashing LEDs in his headlights and nobody ever messed with him, partly because he only activated them at road shows and emergencies because they were wired to his "hazards". A friend of mine was an EMT with her own personal Ford Mustang. It was "pimped out" with alternating headlights, and red strobes in the dashboard, standard-issue in South Carolina for Fire Dept./Medical personnel.
She got messed with the Sheriff's Dept. helping with an accident out-of-county.
Haha, I've been pulled over by this cruiser

Everywhere is different, check your local laws.
Best advice: If you think it might be illegal, don't do it.

more than likely yes, UNLESS you use em on private property, aka your drivway or the like, most places, most times, yes not legal lol

isn't it a crime for civilians to have strobes on their cars
1995bisquick 4 years ago
No....it isn't a crime to have strobes or to
have every option on your car. However...its
what you do with it and where that will give
you problems. Also...you're not allowed to
falsely represent the car with decals saying
you're from this city or Police Dept.
If you drive it around looking and acting
like a everyday person or dude then you're
Ok....otherwise you could easily be sitting
in jail saying: What did I do wrong?
