i must have watched this video 50 times. I gotta say, I'm a musician, been doing it for 20 years. That's long enough to know that there is something disgusting in being as good as these guys are.
@Octospidr Do a search for the Mingus Epitaph concert and look for video of "Wolverine Blues". One of the woodwind players plays four or five great choruses of blues on the bassoon.
Futureman's brother, the band's bassist, Victor Wooten, is one of the baddest bass players in the world. This piece, Hoedown is an orchestral piece "written" by Aaron Copeland, which was taken note for note from a recording at the Library of Congress done by some hillbilly fiddler in the South that he called called "Napoleon Bonypart." FYI.
@Masamuneblader dude.. never generalize.. just because almost all the audience in there doesnt dance pretty well.. doesnt means that any white can dance :D
watch from 9:00 to the end of the video. He's holding what could be called the drumset. Its called a Drumitar by roland and he's the only one in the world that uses it. He's also the bass players brothers and plays a real drumset as well.
@biotoxin21 Almost. The Drumitar is something he invented according to Wikipedia and was built on a modified SynthAxe previously owned by Lee Ritenour
See the guy on the far right dressed like a pirate and playing what appears to be a guitar-shaped children's toy? His name is Roy Wooten, a.k.a. Futureman. He's playing a Synthaxe Drumitar, an instrument he invented that plays different drum loops by tapping with the fingers on specific parts of the apparatus (it's color coded if you haven't noticed).
the guy all the way to right is there drummer.....but he mostly plays an instrument he created called the drumitar....which is played like a guitar but makes drum sounds
It's not Emerson, Lake, and Palmer's "Hoedown," it's Aaron Copland's "Hoedown." ELP was as much a cover as is Fleck. It is pretty awesome, though, thanks for uploading!
Best version I've heard since ELP's serving.

@frogbelly87 That's a bassoon, not an oboe. Both are double reed instruments. Don't ever hear a bassoon played like that - great!
