The Purpose of the Classic App for Palm Pre is so that current Palm OS users who own a lot of apps will be more inclined to migrate to the new Palm WebOS Device without giving up their current programs. As you can tell in this video the classic app emulates the current Legacy Palm OS which is how you get that backward compatability. Please note this is a separate program and will not come with the Pre.
