yea 1 of 3 great RPG's ive played. Final fantasy 7 and Dark chronicle are the other 2. omfg this opening scene brings back alot of memorys

This was one of the best RPG's I ever played! Along with Chrono Trigger, Vagrant Story & FFVII.

Typical of Namco's Tales series, the art direction is vibrant with colour & is interspersed with anime sequences, albeit only a few in this one sadly. For me tho, what really set this apart was the intriguing plot; like the anticipation leading up to the completion of Colette's trials as Chosen of Regeneration, or which Desian Over-Lord you'll fight next as you take'em down one by one.

This WAS my favorite game, though now it's tied with Tales of Vesperia. Gameplay wise ToV is much superior to ToS, but the story and characters in ToS are just too good :3

It's a shame that Vagrant Story is so underplayed, the music was top-notch as was the battle system. Not to mention it scoring a full 10 in Famitsu, who are fairly stringent with there scoring. Hitoshi Sakimoto did a grand job composing that soundtrack as well so it's a shame it didn't do so well financially. Bah! Probably bad marketing or something.

But yeah, I'm yet to play ToV so I look forward to that...

this game is freakin awesome but i don't know about the second...i want it really badly but the main character is so whiny and doesn't know anything. all he does is stand there and whine "What are you doing?? Why are you hurting her? What do i do? How do you press this button??"

man...and the graphics! I like the graphics in the first one but now it's all new and weird in the second!! grrr....

I haven't quite beaten it, so I'm not sure about the ending, but I think it's definitely worth it. It's a bit short, and not quite as good as the original (but how many games are as good as ToS?), but I like how the story and the graphics are. Emil gets less whiny, and the voice acting, despite several roles having new actors, is overall above average compared to most voice acting for English releases of anime.

anyone ever try to make sheena the love interest. I can't understand the hate for collette just cause its hard, and likes lloyd so much. Ugh I felt bad being mean.

I hated that my character in the game was named Lloyd, but I loved everything else. The style was beautiful, and I completely fell in love with the characters over the course of the game. Brilliant battle, interesting Norse-inspired storyline... just wonderful. I want to play it again.

2 many people havent played this masterpiece, its got 1 of the best stories of all time, some of the best gameplay and locales, characters as well, and it is also a beautiful game they did well with the art

I remember the first time I saw Zelos in the game, I thought he was gay. Not gay as in stupid, but homosexual, colour coordinated sock drawer, sushi for dinner gay. It was all the women that tipped me off otherwise. Seriously, all he's missing are cheekless chaps.

I thought zelos was a girl at first when I saw the case to the game, but after I got to the part of the game where they meet him then I found out that he was a guy.
