As cute as these cat are, I feel little bit sorry for the long spine and short legs. This one even walks akwardly, but yeah, of course it loved and taken care by it's owners like it should by every cat-owner. Reading from internet, I was suprised that they don't suffer the same as many spinal problems as the canine family with short-legs. Yet Munchkins and Scottish Folds are forbidden to breed (or at leat as show-cats) here in Finland because their abnormality and mutation (in legs and spine).

These abnormally short legs are a mutation that should be bred OUT of these cats rather than perpetuated because it renders the animal inferior to the optimal anatomy of the species. Munchkin owners and breeders are selfish: They see only the "cutie pie" factor of the stunted limbs without any regard for how the animal's quality of life has been reduced. People should consider how "cute" their lives would be with stunted legs!

Munchkin cats are the result of a ramdom mutation but someone kept breeding them They have spinal problems and that is not cute. Some mutations would naturally be "selected out"...but man has kept this one going. Survival of the fittest is not being allowed to happen.
