Thanks for posting. Nothing says "city" like neon -- we need way more of it in Vancouver. Looks great particularly on rainy nights. Would love to see a picture of the neon sign on the Bamboo Terrace in Chinatown.
How times change. When these signs were all over the place, the pundits said they were garish and tacky and fought to replace them with modern glass boxes. I suppose some of these will be preserved and displayed in some antiseptic gallery for a new generation of pundits to sigh over (viz. the replica 'Risty sign inside Chapters on Bway & Gran for an example of modern tacky).
This is a great video of some classic Vancouver landmarks, but, sadly, many of the places seen here are already gone. I heard on the news the other day that they'll likely be closing down Save-On-Meats soon. What can you do? Vancouver NEEDS more luxury condos! Sigh... At least, for the time being, we can still indulge in a bit of nostalgia and enjoy a 16mm peep show at Movieland Arcade...

Thanks for the great comment. Downtown Vancouver is loosing so many of its classic signs and buildings. The city just
tears everything down every decade and builds new bland boring crap.
