I just recently got into Mayer..But can someone tell me when they made this VIDEO???In the VERY Beginning the guy say's "We Have Local Talent Mayer Hawthorne"..But the Dancers look like their out of THE 80's...And also if you watch the TV Commercial at the End,It looks like its from like 1982 or Something like that...That would make Mayer at least 50...Someone???Anyone???Plz Help Me...Thanks

@mattdaddyful yeah, they dubbed in his name and they used old footage from a dance show in Detroit from the 80's. Recycle and reuse, welcome to the internet. What is great about this video is the fact it is a mashup of old footage and a new song that sounds sorta old, this is the sort of of thing that will come to and end or be made incredibly difficult if SOPA legislation is passed. Copyrights and the such getting in the way of creativity.

In case anyone's interested, I suspected that the Hawthorne song and the video didn't match up-meaning this dance show is not actually playing the Hawthorne song. The video looks dated to the late 1980's/early 1990's. Sure enough, The New Dance Show is from the late 1980's to mid 1990's. They managed to edit R.J. Walkins so it sounds as if Mayer's name is mentioned. Mystery solved.

This video was a recreation of the 70's and 80's Soul Train. At that time, as with today, young black people were trying new and innovative dancing to music. Unlike many other races, that simply copy blacks after they've refined these moves, these kids were stepping out into unknown territory, in an effort give birth to something new. Mayor Hawthorne is a case in point........ as much as I like him, and I do hope he keeps doing what he's doing..... it' just a redo of what we did.

Historically, whenever you can find a white artist, that has enough soul to sound black.... he will become phenomenally famous. Even as far back as Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, to Elvis Presly, Beatles, Emenem etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.....
