  • I love Matisyahu. I listened to this interview. He says that the difference between Reggae and Christian Rock is that Christian Rock focuses on the message and not the music, whereas Reggae, as a music form, is unifying. So does that mean, no matter what the lyrics are in a Reggae beat, the song would be unifying? For example, if you took a Neo Nazi theme and put it to a Reggae beat would Matisyahu still say that the song was unifying. I wonder if he has an anti Christian agenda.

  • Hey, let's all fixate on this or that little tiny piece of info he talked about! Yeah! Cuz' you know, that's what it's all about, right?

  • Is it just me or is there something wrong with that mic...

  • love matisyahu, hate religion

  • He looks so much like Haile Selassie I in the One Day video!

  • I respect matisyahu he is beast

  • he would be really hot if he shaved

  • @uRsOgAyMc AGREE!

  • @uRsOgAyMc he shaved! check out his new look, saw him in concert last night in WPB Florida... awesome!

  • Wow, way to slam the Christian faith. What a close-minded and uninformed view he has. Evidently, he has never listened to Christian rock, it's not about ultimatums, as he made it seem. He is cool, and has wonderful music, but that comment turned me off. No need to put down one, to bring up another.

  • @ised92 But being a Christian that's kind of how it is. It's we are the only way to heaven and if your not with part of our body your going to hell. I do not in anyway argee with that view.

  • as a hassidic musican crazy jew i love him!!!

  • this guy defiantly smells like poo

  • I saw Matisyahu at Earthdance and I was impreesed with His "message". What to do about our Palistain "Brothers &Sisters? You are the "coolest", beautiful Israeli, I have met.....I hope through your music you can bring Peace to that part of the World.

  • Did anyone know he wears a size 15 shoe?

  • he looks like he stinks

  • I agree. I'm not one for religious music, but I don't care because this band is just so good.

  • Give me some Capleton instead, any day.

  • how olds matisyahu?

  • @Mysterio552 31

  • I'm confused, when anybody from a carribean area does Reggae its a genre all its own, but get someone that doesn't look the part to fit a particular genre it's automatically labeled Christian or Alternative rock/music.

Also, Reggae NEVER started with Bob Marley it did however become popularize by him. ...Also, Matisyahu needs to be going over-seas to places like Jamaica, Barbadoes, Trinidad in order to be given the seal of approval as a major significance; Regardless where you go.

  • @Sileni Why must Matisyahu go to Jamaica, Barbados, and Trinidad in order to be given the seal of approval as a major significance?? He already travels around the world performing. Let his music and his ideas give him the seal of approval as a major significance, not where he performs. And back to your first question about characterizing Reggae and labels and what not, many reggae artists don't fit the genre, so I'm not sure what you are talking about. Matisyahu is just one example of this.

  • @MultiKlaw Then its not Reggae music if they (artist) don't fit into the mold of what music is truly representing, maybe not a particular group of ethnic groups as you cleverly tried pointing out. As for Seal of approval, don't even try to get me started.

  • @Sileni huh? Say that to sting and the police who clearly have reggae songs

  • @tjthegreat7 its called new wave, not reggae

  • @poorman131 If you have a one drop or skank in it it's not new wave you clown it's reggae

  • Love matis, by far one of the greatest artists of my lifetime. Like he said, people will always question him first about the religion because it is a hard thing to shy away from, but putting that aside, he is just such an amazing musician. And as to you who ask why he is not played more openly on radio, I think its because he doesnt have the image radio stations want to exhibit. In my opinion, if radio stations were to play on subsance alone, matis would be on every station .

  • I'm an orthodox Catholic and I LOVE matisyahu. I think ALL Christians can learn from his spirituality and love for God.

Matisyahu! Not all Christians say "if you don't agree with me, you're going to hell!" Just the ignorant fundamentalists!

Christ is the way, but his ways are unknown!

  • he doesn't sound like the smartest jew ever but his music is nice sometimes

  • it's because he converted

  • He's not converted...

  • yeah about that....he is

  • Well he's not but think that if you want to. =)

  • hes not converted. he just wasnt always as religious as he is today

  • no, he MIGHT have been born jewish, but definitely had an "enlightened" moment where he found god. GOD DAMINT YOU PEOPLE NEED TO READ!

  • Loving his payos! (Sidelocks)

  • hmmmm

  • I sure hope Matisyahu finally gets played on the radio on the mainstream channel around the world. He is a true musical genius :)

  • <3 love
