obama supported forcing lenders to handout sub prime loans to dead beats, you know the loans that helped ruin the credit market and economy, but Freddie and fanny sure backed his run so they need billions too, its not like citizens need to have that $ to grow their business' and the economy besides that would put the power in the hands of the PPL not the govt. BO and pals would never allow that to happen, Time to send BO back to Indonesia and flush the toilet of turds that is congress
what do you expect!? obama has to pay back all his big business pals who helped by him the election and God knows he loves to spend the money of hard working citizens
like when he gave his wifes hospital, the same hospital that dumps patients without insurance, millions of tax payers $ when he was a senator and she then got a 550% raise, ACORN $8B to ?, but he owes them, they got him some mad votes YO!
I Support My President Barack Obama! He has yet to do anything wrong and the only ones that have sinned against Him are the rightwing wackos. Like these guys.
Obama will save this country and usher in a New Order upon the World which will infect everyone with His love and compassion that He giveth unto us. We dont deserve it from Him, but He will rise up and save the masses! He will rise indeed!
Also in the Tooth Fairy. And in the Great Pumpkin. And that Bush planned 9/11. And that eating Ben & Jerry's brings us closer to world peace. And that Keith Olbermann is ever intentionally funny.
This younger generation has awakened to the criminal activity of the Federal Reserve and their lackeys on Wall St. and in Washington. Thanks go to Dr. Ron Paul!
May 20..UPDATE..Hey there Mr F*ckin' Wonderful, (yes you barf obama) you might think you are the chosen one and every one loves your stupid ass..because of the liberal media strokes you daily..BUT..guess what asshole..the Senate just spoke today and knocked you out sucker..the world DOES NOT like your stupid ass, you ain't sh*t BOY.. you are on the way out. You are a fraud and your time is closing fast.
I can't help thinking this is a a republican vs democrat thing, than it is an actual, "I care about spending," thing. I don't think these people cared when it was Bush who was doing the spending, but now that a democrat is doing it, all of a sudden they care. No offense, I don't know these people personally, I don't know their intentions. I oppose wasteful spending too. But the fact that tea party protests are occurring now, instead of 4 years ago, I think, lessens their credibility.
I seem to remember Bush spending trillions on an unfounded war, and not raising taxes to pay for it. Where do you suppose that money's gonna come from? Where were these guys then? Waiting until a democrat does it and then speaking up pretty much ruins the credibility of the whole thing. If you supported Bush's war, and the trillions he spent, you have no business waiting until now to protest.
MONEY TO THE PEOPLE...... screw giving the bail out money to ANY Wall Street Co - Give the people the money, as they spend it it will fix economy, stop forclosures, get america out of debt, etc.
PLEASE join my protest to the Bail out and answer 1 question on camera: "How would you spend $297,000 dollars?" - That is the amount of BAIL OUT money given to the people....C'MON AMERICA, JOIN US IN TELLING THE GOV HOW WE COULD FIX THIS ECONOMY!....... The Fight Isnt Over YET!!
I certainly did not call Bush the "stupid Texan" or suggest that he was an illegitimate American for no valid reason.
The people who argue that Obama was not legally born in America are idiots. Plain and simple. Either idiots or attention whores. I don't mean to attack anyone, but to be honest it's true.
And Obama didn't destroy the economy. Everything that has happened since the LESS THAN TWO MONTHS that he has been in office was only carrying on from Bush.
not true, all the thing he has past in six weeks would take most Presidents at lest four years. He (by him self) did not put us in a economic down turn, but GSEs like Freddie Mac did (who where heavily supported by the Dems). The reason Obama is getting so much heat is because the socialist polices he has put in to play will destroy wealth, and jobs thus seriously hindering the recovery of the economy.
We The People have our wealth and future wealth stolen from us by our government our government gives that money to the MEGA RICH! soon We The People will have nothing to lose.
Why should taxpayers and the government bail out stupid homeowners would bought stuff they can't afford? Sadly government regulations on banks had a large part in forcing many large businesses hands and making bad decisions. Hell they forced wells fargo to take bailout money when they didn't want it because they're profitable. The government needs to but the hell out and stop trying to help the lazy and poor
and whoever doesnt believe in the free market i ask you only this what government edict mandated grocery stores to have so many different types of food? why isnt there one brand of bread for everyone? one brand of ground meat, cereal, orange juice? answer that question and then try to deride the free market
if you think we live under a free market system maybe you should figure out that if this shit is going on thats a lie. expropriating and redistributing wealth it is what destroys lives not the free market. you would see that if one was ever allowed to exist.
but hey, the government leaves you alone under anarchy right? right because their is no gvrment. and every1 is left to their own will. you will inevitably be plunged into the war because free-market capitalism is uncooperative. You will need to exploit someone or country for a profit. End of story. You're out for self-sustainability not human sustainability. And until you all get that you aren't the only ones on this planet nor the only ones suffering youll continue to rot under this system.
All 6 or 7 of you are still ignoring the gaps that will not go away under any free market capitalist society. That could no way happen under a socialist government.
1.Starvation
2.Poverty
3.Homelessness
4.War
Those are just 4 of many. Yes you will have your income taxed. Yes your labor will go to benefit society as a whole. Because that is your RESPONSIBILITY living in a lawful, humanistic, organized society. Go live on some anarchistic island killing each for land and resources
Again and again you try to tell people that Socialism will work, this time, that all the other socialist failures were just because they weren't the right socialism.
What have been four of the defining traits of Socialism every time it's been tried?
According to you Stalinism was Socialism....so I don't think I'm even going to attempt open that can of worms anymore than I already have. You can't guarantee equality and the elimination of those four elements...because you know it isn't possible in any sort of market/profit system. All these are inhumane. But you're a capitalist... you only need to turn a profit and your day is done. Easy.
"LIBERTY!" can be achieved while being paid a lesser wage than the overall value your labor provides as you constantly worry will your employer lay you the fuck off to make his salary go up a few points. You don't know what LIBERTY is. Because you've never lived in a free society. But "free-market" capitalism can save you from all this? You're a wannabe Citi-Bank capitalist in a rabid anarchist clothing. You're not scaring or fooling anyone but yourself.
Then explain why nearly everyone, in every field, makes more than "minimum wage"? Why, if employers have such power, do they pay one cent more than they "have" to?
Communism and socialism are twin sisters, one preferring violent overthrow of governments, the other preferring legislative usurpation of government, but both of them destroying your rights and your freedom. Enter socialism, welcome slave state.
There are no collective rights; there are only individual rights, and in a socialist government those rights are usurped. The government grants the "rights" and the government takes them away.
No matter how good the motives, we're still talking about theft, and our federal government has been indulging in theft since our first socialist president, Woodrow Wilson.
BTW, Obama is definitely a marxist.. Look at his policies.
False. Obama is BAILING OUT FAILED BUSINESSES. That means that the executives of these huge banks and investment houses get to walk away with their millions, free from the repercussions of their decisions.
At tax payer expense.
If they had failed, the BUSINESSES would have gone bankrupt and their assets sold off at a discount. That's all. The "system" would have continued just fine, and on a more sound financial footing with successful firms.
Again... Marxism has nothing to do with bailing out banks. It has everything to do with bailing out people ruined by capitalism. If Obama were any kind of Marxist, he'd bail out homeowners losing their homes...not just a small %age but all of them. He'd use the burst housing bubble that has left millions without homes and on the streets and put theme in those homes. Have you checked to see how many vacant houses are in your dad's neighborhood lately?
You're right. Wealth cannot be created under a capitalist system. Which is why we're both just waiting for the bottom to fall out. We can both agree on that.
When the bottom falls out people will choose socialism and egalitarianism. It's inevitable. Not capitalist society can avoid crashes and recessions...not even your masturbatory free-market.
"people will choose socialism and egalitarianism. It's inevitable."
Let's look at this. You assert that people will just "choose" this egalitarian socialism. It will work better, in economic terms that's called "efficiency".
So how about this: remove all government price supports, monopolies, limited liability, insurance, etc. All corporate welfare. I think that's a great idea.
Then, eliminate everything else, too. No consensual crimes, prosecute solely when someone can show harm.
(cont.) Now, without government involvement in the economy at all, you can go right ahead and establish your egalitarian socialism.
And if it's more efficient, if people are in fact living better that way, I'll very likely join right in.
But what I expect is, freed from the intervention of government, people will choose voluntary interaction and trade, the division of labor, and private property. In one word, "Capitalism".
With socialism/marxism, the government owns business. Fascism is also socialism--Hitler's party was the National SOCIALIST party, and Mussolini called fascism the marriage of government and business. The "left and right" meet at totalitarianism.
Socialsm advocates "distributing the wealth". Have you even listened to Obama? He takes from one to give to another. Is he the first? Not by a long shot. Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., all the way back to the 60's. Go read "Tragedy & Hope" by Quigley.
The problem with socialism is that it's THEFT. It takes the proceeds of the labor of person A to benefit another, person B, usually without A's consent. The only legitimate reason for government is to preserve our natural, inherent (God-given) rights. What a private citizen cannot do in his private capacity (take someone else's labor or money), he cannot authorize the government to do.
Actually, it was racist idiots like you that are the reason why people went from center to slightly left of center. We on the far left welcome them and will encourage them to go further left. One day we will have real people socialism. Not corporate socialism.
"One day we will have real people socialism. Not corporate socialism."
While I agree with you that "corporate" socialism, better known by its Italian name Fascism, is more hypocritical than just "socialism", it doesn't work any better.
Trade "corporate" bureaucrats and insiders for "government" bureaucrats and insiders.
Same shit, different name. Taxpayers still have to pay for it all.
It was your precious liberty minded "free-market" that let these mega corps rise to power. Don't get mad now because they got too big for you to control. What they didn't teach you in Econ 101 was that competition often produces winners. You lost. We lost. The fact that you would compare fascism to socialism pretty hilarious. Being that socialism at it's core is pro-worker and not pro-nationalism. Socialism was what was defeated by fascism, bigotry, state capitalism, and tyranny.
Are you really so un-read as to still think that there has been any "free market" at all?
The mega-corps only exist because of their corporate/government partnerships. Socialism is the cause of megacorps.
Go for "real" socialism, you'll get all the same mega-corps, all the same abuses, just labeled as particular government agencies. Even more abuse, actually, because then they'd have complete governmental immunity from prosecution.
Are you really that unread to think what is going on has anything to do with Marxism or Socialism? Did McDonalds and Wal-Mart not start out as a just a little burger joint in Nowheresville? Just a guy that wanted to start a business? Did they not overtime kill off every bit of competition it could before becoming a mega-corp? They were allowed to grow. Allowed expand. Allowed to drown out business while government looked the other way and said "free-market".
Your words are coming from a very libertarian-anarchistic pov. Government is not something to be feared and struggled with. Government is supposed to do the will of the people not the other way around. Government is an extension of the people. Which is clearly not happening now and for very long time...even at the signing of constitution we all hold so dear. The only way you're going to take this country back from the banks is with the working class fist--not rabble roused, infant capitalists.
"Government is not something to be feared and struggled with."
Shhh! Don't argue with the bureaucrats and politicians taking your money. Just go back to sleep, that's a good little citizen. Watch your "reality" TV while we run everything into the ground for you.
Way to take that line completely out of context. If you put your fangs back in your mouth you'd see thats not what I was not trying to say that government should run anyone. Taxes are part of living in an organized society. Even your great, wise, all-knowing forefathers knew that. Thats whats so funny about you conservatives...you cling to their ideals but you have no idea what they practiced.
"I was not trying to say that government should run anyone."
You said you wanted socialism.
Socialism is the government running everyone.
It's the worst of the IRS and Homeland Security, bank bailouts and institutional greed all at the same time, with immunity from prosecution rolled in for fun and bureaucratic profit.
But you still cannot defend that you're a slave to the very system you claim that will set you free. You'll still be a set wage. You Will likely spend the majority of your fit life working. People will still starve despite there being a world full of food. There will still be scarcity and profits based on overproduction and creating scarcity for the sake of creating profits. True socialism uses society's resources to benefit society as a whole. Not to line pockets.
Which is why its so outrageous when you guys cry socialism everytime someone says "Stimulus" or "Bailout". Or call Obama a "Marxist". Obama is not there to make sure that capital best benefits society. He is only making sure that the power structure remains intact and the banks continue to thrive. The only people being bailed out are the banks who create these crises.
"The only people being bailed out are the banks who create these crises."
It was the Federal Reserve and the monetary policies of the Federal government, its socialist institutions like Fannie/Freddie, which caused the crisis.
The banks made bad loans because they were told to, and told that they would be bailed out.
They did, and they were. Nothing what so ever to do with a "free market", purely the result of government actions.
The result of socialism, just like every other crash.
If you cannot even be bothered to look at the monetary policies that caused this downturn, I am no longer surprised at your devotion to the religion of socialism.
After all, socialism will work THIS TIME if only the right people implement it! {/sarcam}
Yes but under capitalism I can choose my job and use my hard-earned income to line my own pockets. I don't care how much socialism "benefits society" I'd rather be treated as an individual than an element of society. Stealing from and sacrificing the individual "for the benefit of society" is pure evil.
It really surprising how many socialists think that food will just jump onto the plate once the Workers of the World unite. No one will work, of course, because they'll all be paid a living wage.
Not one hint as to where all this magical wealth will come from.
Take that back, you lying scum. I'm no more for "conservative" fascism than I am for "liberal" socialism. Both assume the state owns me, one is just more honest about it.
And also, things have been running into the ground far before reality T.V.. Far before T.V. Please tell me about this magically delicious time where everything was fair, impartial, and legit? Where since the signing of the Constitution, this government did right by it's citizens? Whats going on now has been building for centuries. All for the sake of keeping you at the bottom. You'd do well to remember that next time you want to shout boogiemen names like "Marxist"!
"Whats going on now has been building for centuries."
Oh, good sir, in this you and I are in COMPLETE agreement!
Read "Hamilton's Curse" by Ton DiLorenzo, which covers 2 of those centuries.
Ever since the Feudalist system collapsed with the rise of capitalism, the oligarchies has been trying to get the genie back into the bottle. But big government always fails in the long run.
No offense, politics aside, but when has violence really accomplished anything constructive? Fighting fire with fire begets more fire, fight with water instead.
Socialism is a worker organized state. Workers have a stake in what their wages are. How long they work. And what they are taxed. There is nothing collectivized by cooperation. Everyone has a stake. There is no 1 authoritative body that runs all. Please go read a book. Instead some McCarthyist fairytale.
Under capitalism workers have no stake in any of these things. Even your rosy free-market capitalism which eventually only drives wages down along with employment.
You end up with exactly the same oligarchy any time there is a government. You think Breshnev and Mao were WORKERS? None of them worked a day in their life, other than to play politics and have their opposition murdered.
Maybe you didn't notice that wages and living standards only improved once free-market systems were established? Under socialism, people DIE. By the Millions!
Way to confuse Stalinism and Maoism with Marx and Trotskyism. State capitalist dictatorships have nothing to do with a socialist egalitarian society. You even suggesting so shows you even using the word "Egalitarian" in your presence is probably lost to you. Because you don't give a shit about equality. You want personal self-sustainability. Fuck everyone else and if they eat right? Trait of a true capitalist...a "free-market" capitalist.
If I've bought it hook, line, and sinker you've bought "good, peaceful, equal capitalism". I'll keep my big black book of communism. I'll move out of my mom's basement lol...when you put down your dad's CUMputer made with blood/rape coltan from the Republic Congo. Exploitation--another bi-product of capitalism among so many others. It's funny you knock foreign struggles...because they're always the first in the streets sticking up workers rights. While you debate on youtube.
What's funny is that you didn't notice how living standards improved with manufacturing and exporting, each country "exploited" in turn by the last, each getting wealthy as trade and capitalism came.
"equal capitalism"
No. Equality before the law, equality of opportunity. Self determination, and private property.
Just because capitalism is what you get when you leave people alone, don't blame me.
What I believe in, fanboy, is LIBERTY. And I know it works because I live it.
Another lie, fanboy. I'm all for equality. Equality before the law, equality of opportunity.
What I have seen fail, over and over and over, is "equality of outcome." It ALWAYS results with a small, very powerful oligarchy, ruling over a large mass of poor, desperate people.
Always.
If you don't understand that, you can't read history.
I'm also dumbstruck at how people think jacking up taxes is a good idea. I know several professionals who make over 250k who swear that when major tax increases hit they will quit or go part time. Highly paid jobs are highly stressful, why would anyone work twice as hard for half as much when you can work half as hard for the same amount? Society will miss their productivity.
When the IRS was founded, the tax was 3% on incomes of more than $1M/year. Within 10 years, it was 70% on incomes of more than $50K (keep inflation in mind if $50K seems low today).
When it started there were lots and lots of millionaires. They vanished, just as you suggest.
This really isn't anything new. It's all been done, and failed, before.
I laugh at all the liberals getting on here and saying that just because Bush and company spent like drunks somehow it's ok when democrats do the same thing. The only argument you have to defend your reckless spending is that republicans did it first. And why do they always make the blanket assumption that all fiscal conservatives were Bush supporters or even Republicans? Limited government is a principle in and of itself, not something that belongs to a party.
Maybe not this specific video but there was a lot more opposition among the populous to the Bush bank bailouts than the Obama stimulus. Some congressmen reported that something like 80-90% of calls they received were against the bailout. Both liberals and conservatives were rightly angry about the Bush bailouts, but I fear too many people are drinking the kool-aid on Obama's spending and refusing to hold the dems accountable.
I mentioned in another thread that those who were taking Bush to task for everything Obama is doing had stopped their opposition as soon as Obama took office.
I would so enjoy one of Olberman's excoriations of Obama's policies, since they're just Bush's policies continued. But No, Democrats don't attack other democrats.
Sad to say, the Republicans did exactly the same thing. Now THEY'RE against bailouts and war. Sheesh! I loath them both.
This is kind of funny, but they shouldn't confuse regular people who may think that they actually won something only to find out that they are being used to make a political point -- albeit a good one. If people had to write checks for everything the government did, we would have a truly limited government. The real reason the politicians love the Federal Reserve is it allows them to spend whatever they want with no regard to long-term consequences.
When Olympia Snowe says she's a supporter of Amtrak, she doesn't mean that she USES Amtrak. She means that she transfers your money to Amtrak, whether you use it or not. Once again proving that Republicans have absolutely no credibility when they claim to believe in liberty and limited government.
What were you doing before? Chasing Iraq War dissenters around and accusing them of sedition? Waxing Dubya's Limo? Torturing innocent men and boys at Gitmo? Losing 9 billion in cash in "liberated" Iraq? Signing no-bid contracts for Haliburton? Running phony radio ads against Chavez? Agitating for Afghan/Caspian Pipelines? What?
As the saying goes - A day late and a dollar short.
You assume that, because they have "right" in their name, they supported all of those things. That's a form of collective thinking, which led to this kind of 'stimulus' in the first place.
What I see is a protest against wasteful spending by a leftist government.
Where was the protest against 8 long years of wasteful spending at the hands of George Bush's right leaning government?
Frankly, this doesn't seem much like a "grass roots" movement. It looks like astroturfig. Ditto the calls for a "tea party" on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade.
That's what I'm saying. As long as it's a rich, white right-wing republican fucking everyone over everything is kosher. It's pure hypocrisy. And I'm not Obama kool-aid drinker either. But what I see here is a bunch of bitter white male outrage. All that piss and vinegar is only driving people further left...so I encourage it. Keep shootin' yer guns in the air boys. Yee-haw!
I don't understand your racism and collectivist thinking. You assume that the only people who speak out against this stimulus and are affected by it are those who are politically well connected and rich off of corporate welfare.
Do you not understand that ignoring the sins that occur during this administration because you point your finger at the sins made in the other is nothing more than rationalizing bad actions?
There were protest against it for the past 8 years, you just been listening to the hypocrites.
And the tea party at the Chicago Board of Trade were calling out Bush too when he presented his stimulus to the banks, maybe you should watch the show more or use youtube.
No. I was in the street protesting it in the early 2000s. You were blogging on some fuckall website about the Illuminati or cursing "those lazy mexicans/blacks". Because like I said. Now that you're getting the short-end of the stick from a black man, banker elite stooge, and a democrat---now you want your country back when you never really had it while they laugh and say "FUCK YOU". I say the same thing to you for being a "i'm white and i want my country back" bigot.
Do you know who I am? I was living in Japan in 2000, and I don't believe I knew what a blog was back then, nor did I curse "mexicans/blacks."
I assume you are a parody, judging by your name, created to cause trouble on youtube for the pure entertainment of getting people upset. You might want to move on to another person though, I don't get upset over such silly statements that have no substance.
Curt replies to me on his own accord...and I reply to him on mine. There is no antagonizing going on here I assure you. Lets see which one happens first. Your youtube revolution or a working class uprising?
"You were...x, y, z" "You're getting the short-end of the stick from..." "let's see what happens first..."
This isn't antagonizing? And I assure you, the working man would be better off without this "stimulus" package. Hopefully they do revolt against Obama and the rest of Washington who feel that they should play god with their money and lives.
Exactly. I think this video is great and all. But Republicans have negative credibility. Bush tripled the size of the federal government, bailed out tons of failed businesses, and overall didn't do a single good thing for this country. Bush and the Republicans are big government statists, and I'm sick of them suddenly pretending to be conservatives. Remember how the GOP treated Ron Paul and his supporters? I sure do. Go fuck yourself GOP. Statism doesn't work.
This video is moronic. Young Republicans on Red Bull. It fails to elevate the discussion (not providing any of the reasons why so many banks are in trouble). Do you guys realize it was Bush who proposed the trillion-plus bank bailout? Remember the pathetic posturing by McCain before the first Obama-McCain debate? That's okay, you can retreat to Palin. You should have asked her if she's taking stimulus plan funds. Of course, you could have tried proposing a real plan. Yeah, right . . .
Sure it was Bush who backed the bank bailout... and that was a dreadful idea last year.
It doesn't matter which politician takes or rejects the money, the truth of the matter is that the stimulus constitutes a massive transfer of wealth, just as the bailout did... and should be opposed on moral, ethical and constitutional grounds.
agreed. Additionally, it rewards bad behavior, and eliminates the incentive to run a profitable business. This hurts small businesses and supports irresponsible big businesses.
Your moronic. Who cares what politician supported it. We're not rooting for sports teams. I voted for Obama and I am completely against this stimulus plan and the bailout.
Delg - go to school. "You are" is abbreviated "you're," not "your." Add econ, civics, & public policy to your studies. You need to understand the implications of acting or not acting to stimulate the economy or buttressing our weakened financial institutions. Businesses big and small are hurting because of the constriction of consumer credit. I criticize this video because it turns a complicated issue into something as simple as rooting for or against a sports team while taking cheap shots.
I know it is You're, I made an error in my typing. That is an irrelevant talking point to discredit an opposing opinion. Just look at the enormous list of Phd economists that oppose this plan. Even Obama says that the stimulus and bailout won't necessarily work. Joe Biden stated there is a 30% chance this wont work. Is he setting us up for disappointment? Is he creating an out so that he has an excuse when his plan fails?
All right, which Phd economists? Will you concede that there is a valid debate as to the merits of doing something vice nothing? By the way, I do not intend to discredit any or all criticism of the stimulus or recovery plans. But the criticism should be informed, articulate, and elevate the tenor of discussion. This video is not even funny. It ridicules some confused citizens who were unlucky enough to be at home and featured in this farce of satire.
Actually, I don't particularly like this video.I just think bringing up what a particular party thinks is irrelevant. Bush was a moron. I certainly wouldn't want him on my side. I should have proofread my statement, but honestly I thought you were probably an idiot so I didn't bother.
. I think MAYBE something could be done to help, though I am extremely skeptical of the concept. I mostly don't like how we are being bullied into this, exactly the same way we were bullied into Iraq, the patriot act, etc after 911. The democratic party (which I belong to) is preying on the fear of poverty, a great depression, just as our fear of being attacked was preyed upon. Same game. Different issue. As Thomas Jefferson said "delay is preferable to error"
I share your skepticism with regard to anyone's ability to manipulate the economy without unforeseen consequences. There's always risk of undesireable & unintended 2nd or 3rd order effects. I do not believe either party holds a monopoly on virtue. Both parties have members preying on popular fears. This video is despicable on several levels. For one, it depicts minorities as ignorant or gullible. I'm sure you could elicit a similar reaction by filming in front of white working class homes.
You are correct that both big and small businesses are hurting right now. I am speaking in terms of long term incentives, and unfair advantages. Did you know that banks were consolidating so that they would be considered a larger impact on the economy so they could qualify for some bailout money? What happens to our hometown banks in all of this?
Most hometown banks are in good shape. They were not as likely to make the high risk decisions - pushing loans on less than qualified home buyers.
Oh, and the largest bank consolidations occurred during the Bush administration - at the beheadst of the Fed Chairman. This video seems to point blame at the Dems.
I just typed it real fast. I think MAYBE something could be done to help, though I am extremely skeptical of the concept. I mostly don't like how we are being bullied into this, exactly the same way we were bullied into Iraq, the patriot act, etc after 911.
Ive seen advice on news programs, stating that you would have to stop paying your mortgage in order to qualify for government assistance. What you have here is responsible people, having to become irresponsible to have a level playing field.

Presbo promised change - but he didn't specify whether that "change" would be for the good of our Country or for the bad.

MattWTaylor 2 years ago
not true, all the thing he has past in six weeks would take most Presidents at lest four years.

1 Starvation
2 Poverty
3 Homelessness
4 War
CurtHowland 2 years ago
According to you Stalinism was Socialism....so I don't think I'm even going to attempt open that can of worms anymore than I already have. You can't guarantee equality and the elimination of those four elements...because you know it isn't possible in any sort of market/profit system. All these are inhumane. But you're a capitalist... you only need to turn a profit and your day is done. Easy.
doucheberry 2 years ago
"According to you Stalinism was Socialism."
No, fanboy, according to YOU every failed socialist system in history, somehow, magically, isn't what you mean by socialism THIS TIME.

CurtHowland 2 years ago
Ok so according to you...
You're not scaring or fooling anyone but yourself.
doucheberry 2 years ago
Ah, the "employer has all the power" myth.
Then explain why nearly everyone, in every field, makes more than "minimum wage"? Why, if employers have such power, do they pay one cent more than they "have" to?
I can explain it, I've studied economics.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
I think economics should a basic building block of education. It is necessary in order to keep people free and vigilant.

Elasaltaculos 2 years ago 2
Communism and socialism are twin sisters, one preferring violent overthrow of governments, the other preferring legislative usurpation of government, but both of them destroying your rights and your freedom. Enter socialism, welcome slave state.
honesttaxes 2 years ago 3
There are no collective rights; there are only individual rights, and in a socialist government those rights are usurped. The government grants the "rights" and the government takes them away.
No matter how good the motives, we're still talking about theft, and our federal government has been indulging in theft since our first socialist president, Woodrow Wilson.
BTW, Obama is definitely a marxist.. Look at his policies.
honesttaxes 2 years ago 2
What policies are those? Upholding the banking system? How is that Marxist? Please tell me one book on Marxism, socialism that advocates this.
doucheberry 2 years ago
"Upholding the banking system?"
CurtHowland 2 years ago
Have you checked to see how many vacant houses are in your dad's neighborhood lately?
doucheberry 2 years ago
"he'd bail out homeowners losing their homes...not just a small %age but all of them."
And who will pay for that? Really?
The money has to come from somewhere. It's not just printed on paper, unless you like Zimbabwe, Argentina and Germany 1923.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
You're right. Wealth cannot be created under a capitalist system. Which is why we're both just waiting for the bottom to fall out. We can both agree on that.
When the bottom falls out people will choose socialism and egalitarianism. It's inevitable. Not capitalist society can avoid crashes and recessions...not even your masturbatory free-market.
doucheberry 2 years ago
"people will choose socialism and egalitarianism. It's inevitable."
Let's look at this. You assert that people will just "choose" this egalitarian socialism. It will work better, in economic terms that's called "efficiency".
So how about this: remove all government price supports, monopolies, limited liability, insurance, etc. All corporate welfare. I think that's a great idea.
Then, eliminate everything else, too. No consensual crimes, prosecute solely when someone can show harm.
CurtHowland 2 years ago 3
(cont.) Now, without government involvement in the economy at all, you can go right ahead and establish your egalitarian socialism.
And if it's more efficient, if people are in fact living better that way, I'll very likely join right in.
But what I expect is, freed from the intervention of government, people will choose voluntary interaction and trade, the division of labor, and private property. In one word, "Capitalism".
CurtHowland 2 years ago
With socialism/marxism, the government owns business. Fascism is also socialism--Hitler's party was the National SOCIALIST party, and Mussolini called fascism the marriage of government and business. The "left and right" meet at totalitarianism.
Socialsm advocates "distributing the wealth". Have you even listened to Obama? He takes from one to give to another. Is he the first? Not by a long shot. Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr., all the way back to the 60's. Go read "Tragedy & Hope" by Quigley.
patriotsongs 2 years ago 3
The problem with socialism is that it's THEFT. It takes the proceeds of the labor of person A to benefit another, person B, usually without A's consent. The only legitimate reason for government is to preserve our natural, inherent (God-given) rights. What a private citizen cannot do in his private capacity (take someone else's labor or money), he cannot authorize the government to do.

Have you considered liberty instead?
CurtHowland 2 years ago
It was your precious liberty minded "free-market" that let these mega corps rise to power. Don't get mad now because they got too big for you to control. What they didn't teach you in Econ 101 was that competition often produces winners. You lost. We lost. The fact that you would compare fascism to socialism pretty hilarious. Being that socialism at it's core is pro-worker and not pro-nationalism. Socialism was what was defeated by fascism, bigotry, state capitalism, and tyranny.
doucheberry 2 years ago
Are you really so un-read as to still think that there has been any "free market" at all?
The mega-corps only exist because of their corporate/government partnerships. Socialism is the cause of megacorps.
Go for "real" socialism, you'll get all the same mega-corps, all the same abuses, just labeled as particular government agencies. Even more abuse, actually, because then they'd have complete governmental immunity from prosecution.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
Are you really that unread to think what is going on has anything to do with Marxism or Socialism? Did McDonalds and Wal-Mart not start out as a just a little burger joint in Nowheresville? Just a guy that wanted to start a business? Did they not overtime kill off every bit of competition it could before becoming a mega-corp? They were allowed to grow. Allowed expand. Allowed to drown out business while government looked the other way and said "free-market".
doucheberry 2 years ago
Your words are coming from a very libertarian-anarchistic pov. Government is not something to be feared and struggled with. Government is supposed to do the will of the people not the other way around. Government is an extension of the people. Which is clearly not happening now and for very long time...even at the signing of constitution we all hold so dear. The only way you're going to take this country back from the banks is with the working class fist--not rabble roused, infant capitalists.
doucheberry 2 years ago
"Government is not something to be feared and struggled with."
Shhh! Don't argue with the bureaucrats and politicians taking your money. Just go back to sleep, that's a good little citizen. Watch your "reality" TV while we run everything into the ground for you.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
Way to take that line completely out of context. If you put your fangs back in your mouth you'd see thats not what I was not trying to say that government should run anyone. Taxes are part of living in an organized society. Even your great, wise, all-knowing forefathers knew that. Thats whats so funny about you conservatives...you cling to their ideals but you have no idea what they practiced.
doucheberry 2 years ago
"I was not trying to say that government should run anyone."
You said you wanted socialism.
Socialism is the government running everyone.
It's the worst of the IRS and Homeland Security, bank bailouts and institutional greed all at the same time, with immunity from prosecution rolled in for fun and bureaucratic profit.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
But you still cannot defend that you're a slave to the very system you claim that will set you free. You'll still be a set wage. You Will likely spend the majority of your fit life working. People will still starve despite there being a world full of food. There will still be scarcity and profits based on overproduction and creating scarcity for the sake of creating profits. True socialism uses society's resources to benefit society as a whole. Not to line pockets.
doucheberry 2 years ago
Which is why its so outrageous when you guys cry socialism everytime someone says "Stimulus" or "Bailout". Or call Obama a "Marxist". Obama is not there to make sure that capital best benefits society. He is only making sure that the power structure remains intact and the banks continue to thrive. The only people being bailed out are the banks who create these crises.
doucheberry 2 years ago
"The only people being bailed out are the banks who create these crises."
It was the Federal Reserve and the monetary policies of the Federal government, its socialist institutions like Fannie/Freddie, which caused the crisis.
The banks made bad loans because they were told to, and told that they would be bailed out.
They did, and they were. Nothing what so ever to do with a "free market", purely the result of government actions.
The result of socialism, just like every other crash.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
No. It was CAPITALIST GREED that caused this catastrophe. Greed that will not go away under this imaginary free-market you speak of.
doucheberry 2 years ago
"CAPITALIST GREED that caused this catastrophe."
If you cannot even be bothered to look at the monetary policies that caused this downturn, I am no longer surprised at your devotion to the religion of socialism.
After all, socialism will work THIS TIME if only the right people implement it! {/sarcam}
CurtHowland 2 years ago
Yes but under capitalism I can choose my job and use my hard-earned income to line my own pockets. I don't care how much socialism "benefits society" I'd rather be treated as an individual than an element of society. Stealing from and sacrificing the individual "for the benefit of society" is pure evil.
wamyx8Nz 2 years ago
"Yes but under capitalism I can choose my job..."
It really surprising how many socialists think that food will just jump onto the plate once the Workers of the World unite. No one will work, of course, because they'll all be paid a living wage.
Not one hint as to where all this magical wealth will come from.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
"People will still starve despite there being a world full of food."
This coming from someone supporting socialism?
It is only in socialist countries that people starve. The biggest health problem in the more "capitalistic" countries is too much food.
Really, history is not your strong suit.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
"Thats whats so funny about you conservatives..."
Take that back, you lying scum. I'm no more for "conservative" fascism than I am for "liberal" socialism. Both assume the state owns me, one is just more honest about it.
Hint: It's not the "conservatives" being honest.
CurtHowland 2 years ago

JumpinJesuits 2 years ago
"has violence really accomplished anything constructive?"
Naked force has solved most problems in history quite nicely.
Of course, most problems are themselves coercive in nature, so it's more in the shape of self defense.
CurtHowland 2 years ago 2
"not rabble roused, infant capitalists."
Just what do you think "capitalism" is?
Private property. That's it. You own yourself, and what you make of yourself.
Socialism is collective ownership. You work for the state, you get from the state what they want you to have. Nothing more.
If you don't like the IRS and corporate/government partnership, then you DON'T want socialism, because that's all it is. Just more of it.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
Socialism is a worker organized state. Workers have a stake in what their wages are. How long they work. And what they are taxed. There is nothing collectivized by cooperation. Everyone has a stake. There is no 1 authoritative body that runs all. Please go read a book. Instead some McCarthyist fairytale.
Under capitalism workers have no stake in any of these things. Even your rosy free-market capitalism which eventually only drives wages down along with employment.
doucheberry 2 years ago
"Socialism is a worker organized state."
Ignorant fairytale whitewash. That, or you're 14.
You end up with exactly the same oligarchy any time there is a government. You think Breshnev and Mao were WORKERS? None of them worked a day in their life, other than to play politics and have their opposition murdered.

Trait of a true capitalist...a "free-market" capitalist.
doucheberry 2 years ago
Hahahaha! Yep, you've bought it hook, line and sinker.
The old cry, "Socialism will work this time, really, if the right people do it!" just doesn't hold water any more.
Some of us have read "The Black Book of Communism" for a hard dose of reality. You need it, really.
Put the joint down, come out of your mom's basement, and take a nice long look at what the real world offers.
"Egalitarian"? Again, a lesson from history: The French Revolution.
CurtHowland 2 years ago
If I've bought it hook, line, and sinker you've bought "good, peaceful, equal capitalism". I'll keep my big black book of communism. I'll move out of my mom's basement lol...when you put down your dad's CUMputer made with blood/rape coltan from the Republic Congo. Exploitation--another bi-product of capitalism among so many others. It's funny you knock foreign struggles...because they're always the first in the streets sticking up workers rights. doucheberry 2 years ago
CurtHowland 2 years ago
"Because you don't give a shit about equality."
Another lie, fanboy. I'm all for equality. Equality before the law, equality of opportunity.
What I have seen fail, over and over and over, is "equality of outcome." It ALWAYS results with a small, very powerful oligarchy, ruling over a large mass of poor, desperate people.
Always.

Society will miss their productivity.
wamyx8Nz 2 years ago 2
When the IRS was founded, the tax was 3% on incomes of more than $1M/year. Within 10 years, it was 70% on incomes of more than $50K (keep inflation in mind if $50K seems low today).
When it started there were lots and lots of millionaires. They vanished, just as you suggest.
This really isn't anything new. It's all been done, and failed, before.
CurtHowland 2 years ago

Both liberals and conservatives were rightly angry about the Bush bailouts, but I fear too many people are drinking the kool-aid on Obama's spending and refusing to hold the dems accountable.
wamyx8Nz 2 years ago
"and refusing to hold the dems accountable."
CurtHowland 2 years ago
"Limited government is a principle in and of itself, not something that belongs to a party."
Considering the Reps and Dems, it doesn't belong to either face of the Party of State Power.

Nice video.. I like. It's perfect.
But frankly, you guys started 8 years too late.

Nillok 2 years ago 2
That's ridiculous. So are you.
It's a scam.
JhoffaX 2 years ago
That's what I'm saying. As long as it's a rich, white right-wing republican fucking everyone over everything is kosher. It's pure hypocrisy. And I'm not Obama kool-aid drinker either. But what I see here is a bunch of bitter white male outrage. All that piss and vinegar is only driving people further left...so I encourage it. Keep shootin' yer guns in the air boys. Yee-haw!
doucheberry 2 years ago
I don't understand your racism and collectivist thinking. You assume that the only people who speak out against this stimulus and are affected by it are those who are politically well connected and rich off of corporate welfare.
Do you not understand that ignoring the sins that occur during this administration because you point your finger at the sins made in the other is nothing more than rationalizing bad actions?
Nillok 2 years ago 2
There were protest against it for the past 8 years, you just been listening to the hypocrites.
And the tea party at the Chicago Board of Trade were calling out Bush too when he presented his stimulus to the banks, maybe you should watch the show more or use youtube.
Nillok 2 years ago
I say the same thing to you for being a "i'm white and i want my country back" bigot.
doucheberry 2 years ago
Do you know who I am? I was living in Japan in 2000, and I don't believe I knew what a blog was back then, nor did I curse "mexicans/blacks."
I assume you are a parody, judging by your name, created to cause trouble on youtube for the pure entertainment of getting people upset. You might want to move on to another person though, I don't get upset over such silly statements that have no substance.
Nillok 2 years ago
Curt replies to me on his own accord...and I reply to him on mine. There is no antagonizing going on here I assure you. Lets see which one happens first. Your youtube revolution or a working class uprising?
doucheberry 2 years ago
"You were...x, y, z" "You're getting the short-end of the stick from..." "let's see what happens first..."
This isn't antagonizing? And I assure you, the working man would be better off without this "stimulus" package. Hopefully they do revolt against Obama and the rest of Washington who feel that they should play god with their money and lives.
Nillok 2 years ago
I appreciate a roaring argument, so long as it is voluntary. We find another point of agreement.
"a working class uprising?"
There are indeed two classes of people: Those who pay taxes, and those who consume taxes.
In that way, I agree, a productive class revolt is likely. The taxpayers are PISSED, we cannot pay for ourselves and everyone else too.
But the tax eaters are numerous, and they have guns, and badges, and licenses to kill.

Where were you guys when BUSH was giving our money to big banks?
5/5 anyway, better late than never

Yeah, right . . .

runDaverun,
you, sir are dumb. -no offense.
timmyr719 2 years ago
Sure it was Bush who backed the bank bailout... and that was a dreadful idea last year.
It doesn't matter which politician takes or rejects the money, the truth of the matter is that the stimulus constitutes a massive transfer of wealth, just as the bailout did... and should be opposed on moral, ethical and constitutional grounds.
Nautilus3333 2 years ago 2
agreed. Additionally, it rewards bad behavior, and eliminates the incentive to run a profitable business. This hurts small businesses and supports irresponsible big businesses.
delg23 2 years ago
Your moronic. Who cares what politician supported it. We're not rooting for sports teams. I voted for Obama and I am completely against this stimulus plan and the bailout.
delg23 2 years ago
Delg - go to school. "You are" is abbreviated "you're," not "your." Add econ, civics, & public policy to your studies. You need to understand the implications of acting or not acting to stimulate the economy or buttressing our weakened financial institutions. Businesses big and small are hurting because of the constriction of consumer credit. I criticize this video because it turns a complicated issue into something as simple as rooting for or against a sports team while taking cheap shots.
runDaverun 2 years ago
I know it is You're, I made an error in my typing. That is an irrelevant talking point to discredit an opposing opinion. Just look at the enormous list of Phd economists that oppose this plan. Even Obama says that the stimulus and bailout won't necessarily work. Joe Biden stated there is a 30% chance this wont work. Is he setting us up for disappointment? Is he creating an out so that he has an excuse when his plan fails?
delg23 2 years ago
All right, which Phd economists? Will you concede that there is a valid debate as to the merits of doing something vice nothing? By the way, I do not intend to discredit any or all criticism of the stimulus or recovery plans. But the criticism should be informed, articulate, and elevate the tenor of discussion. This video is not even funny. It ridicules some confused citizens who were unlucky enough to be at home and featured in this farce of satire.
runDaverun 2 years ago
Actually, I don't particularly like this video.I just think bringing up what a particular party thinks is irrelevant. Bush was a moron. I certainly wouldn't want him on my side. I should have proofread my statement, but honestly I thought you were probably an idiot so I didn't bother.
delg23 2 years ago
As Thomas Jefferson said "delay is preferable to error"
delg23 2 years ago
I share your skepticism with regard to anyone's ability to manipulate the economy without unforeseen consequences. There's always risk of undesireable & unintended 2nd or 3rd order effects. I do not believe either party holds a monopoly on virtue. Both parties have members preying on popular fears. This video is despicable on several levels. For one, it depicts minorities as ignorant or gullible. I'm sure you could elicit a similar reaction by filming in front of white working class homes.
runDaverun 2 years ago
Of course, when you have nothing left, always run to the racism closet and hide until those bad monsters go away!
Aufruhr 2 years ago
You are correct that both big and small businesses are hurting right now. I am speaking in terms of long term incentives, and unfair advantages. Did you know that banks were consolidating so that they would be considered a larger impact on the economy so they could qualify for some bailout money? What happens to our hometown banks in all of this?
delg23 2 years ago
