According to Space Xs schedule and numerous media reports the Falcon 9 is slated for launch December 2009, why the slip? Why have you not tested to full duration yet?
Ares I had a full-scale, full duration test of its first stage two weeks ago. Ares I-X will launch in a matter of weeks. (Nice OLD photo of stacking)
The Constellation program has received bipartisan support in Congress, go ahead and contact them it will piss the off even more then what Augustine already has!
1. SpaceX has done a full duration test, like the one you cite for Ares I - they did it last Novemember, almost a year ago.
2. If Congress was so supportive of Constellation as is, why the hell haven't they given it a lot more funding? In point of fact, NASA's budget has gone down for the past many years, and Congress hasn't increased its budget, and to do this on time, they need to DOUBLE the NASA budget - thats not in the cards
You are right, NASA is the biggest producer of paper rockets and CGI space plans that never come true. We need a bold vision for exploiting the infinite wealth of asteroids and other bodies in the solar system with manned and unmanned vehicles so we can put an end to poverty and scarcity in human society. Manufacture rocket fuel and solar panels in space first, with those 3D printers, then everything is possible.
