  • all great musicians there but compare this to the studio version and is evident it was a shitty day for them, it sounds like shit. with all due respecto to the musicians

  • @quilmesredlager I think its pretty damm great especially considering this was one of their first live gigs as a band

  • BIG Dave Stewart fan. Long Time.

  • @thesultanofswing86 hey there.. no this is bill brufords band 'Sahara of snow' is the name of the cut

  • I grew up on this shot, I love it. Such evocative and imaginative playing, why don't more of these young guys do this stuff nowadays!!!??? Thanks for the up

  • @thrunobulax1 cats cant play what they dont hear...you would think with as much music that you can get your hands on young cats would play this...no ear no heart no play...for the most part--innovation no longer exist in 2112 (wink)

  • If you like Dave Stewart, check out National Health and Hatfield and the North

  • Sahara of Snow was a UK song

  • I caught these guys so freaking long ago in a little club in Albany, NY Jeff Berlin was 17!!! And Dave Stewart just blew me away...or was it Holdsworth?? Or Bruford (playing tunes coconuts!!!)

It was a surrealistic show:) Thanks for posting!!!

  • that great of u

  • @canetto76 Mi associo senza riserve! B-) ... E come si fa a non sentirsi vivi con questo POKER D'ASSI?!

  • È LA VITA . LA MUSICA CHE MI FA VIVERE !!

  • AND THE NAME OF THE BAND WAS BRUFORD? WASN'T ALAN PLAYING GUITAR, AND JEFF WAS INTRODUCED AS 17 YEAR OLD JEFF BERLIN. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD HEARD OF HIM

  • I saw this band (without Alan) in a little club... a few years before this, I think. Jeff Berlin was 17, and the band was "Bruford"

  • @jyuzynko no, you didn't. Jeff was 17 in the year 1970.... besides, the band started with Holdsworth in the band.

  • album is master strokes by brueford with alan etc

  • @treeelizard no, it's not. The album is "One of a Kind"... Master Strokes is just a "best of" album compilation.

  • feels good to me and one of a kind , right ohmproduct , the four bruford albums i had were bruford tapes ,gradually going tornado , one of a kind and feels good to me , you cannot hear Holdsworth guitar pick , that is how subtle he is . I missed my opportunity to hear holdsworth play live in vancouver , but since i would have had out of province license plates on my car, I couldn't tempt fate that those rednecks in B.C.would have slashed my tires again .

  • You realise that everyone in the audience, at this point in time, were expecting Sham69?

  • Sheer geniuses of music! Holdsworth exhibits a lot of self control.

  • Absolutely bloody brilliant. I watched this gig on the tele when it was first shown. I got my cassette recorder right up close to the tv's speaker and recorded the whole gig. Still got the tape! Love Jeff Berlin. I even put a BadAss bass bridge on my Columbus Jazz Bass to be like him. Along with a set of Di marzio's. I've had that old bass 32 years and it sounds great. Still trying to catch up with Jeff's playing though!

  • @Steven4466 Dave added more than garnish dude - he's like a sick sick player and a lot of the way this band sounded was because of the way he voiced his chords, the leads he played, his time... "ended up providing the garnish" is a pretty banal statement and completely unfair to a cat who is every bit as badass as any of the other cats in that band.

  • @thesultanofswing86

named after Bill Bruford (the percussionist) check out his other work with: UK, King Crimson, Yes, Earthworks

  • @thesultanofswing86

    The band is "Bruford"

  • Love the minimalism influences on the keyboard in the first section. I've got the fastest train :)

  • CLASSIC.....LOVE THIS SONG !!!

  • 1:40 Satriani is a known Holdsworth fan. Now I know where got his tapping style from (think The Forgotten Part 1).

  • Truly epic - shivers down the spine - Bruford are still unsurpassed.......

  • Dave Stewart. Such a genius.

  • demasiado bueno creo que adelantados en el tiempo.....

  • This has got to be one of the more difficult songs to play live. Great performance!

  • Too Good:-)

  • Quelle beauté! quel mystère! on est emporté...

  • awesome!

  • I can't believe this live video exists!

  • @Chriskkboongg The whole concert is available on DVD. It's called "Rock Goes to College" and it's fantastic. I got an autographed copy when it first came out. Go to Bill Bruford's website for it.

  • One of a Kind is agreat album with some of the best musicians on the planet. Dave Stewart is abrillant keyboard player and composer and I was fortunate to see this band at the Bottom Line in NYC.

  • mINDFUCK 101 YEAAAAA

  • That keyboardist is very fluent!

  • Bill Brufords Album "One of a kind" (I know , I bought this album way back in the day & still have it in my collection)

This is some timeless stuff you got here. Holdsworth, Jeff Berlin on bass,

Bruford on drums. This is some classic stuff...Thanks for this one...

  • @sacnusum

Same here on vinyl. I recall seeing them live in high school at a small venue (Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel) in Prov., RI. There may have been at most ~300 people there and I'd gather 50-100 were just heavy oilers that regularly hung at the bar anyways ;). They had no idea what they were about to witness that night...

  • nice viddy except toomuch time staring at the back of daves head. hers some other related bands worth mentioning. egg, hatfield & the north, nationalhealth, matching mole, camel, gong. if anyone could find an egg clip that would be sumtin!

  • At 4:03 Allan Holdsworth plays one of the best rhythm guitar licks ever, and at 4:36, starts one of the best solos ever. And I mean, ever. :)

  • Take a look at around 6:26 at Dave Stewart's organ upper manual has some weights holding the certain keys ... interesting.

  • Feels good!! :)

  • Sahara of snow のライブ。何でこんな演奏ができたんだろう?

  • Actually, if you are as skinny as as Stewart was in 1979, you can get away with wearing suspenders

  • Champions League of Fusion!!!

  • fuck Jeff Berlin, racist asshole

  • @PhuckHue2

Can you tell me why you say this?

  • @hnoerdli because it's true. do some research and you will find it. I'm not gonna repeat what he said because I respect his bass playing too much.

  • @PhuckHue2

I've searched but I can't find anything. I wouldn't want you to repeat what he has said. I would prefer if you or someone could give me some clues on how to find things he has said, such as name and issue of magazine containing an interview with offensive remarks, etc...

A lot of my favorite musicians are outspoken and say controversial things. Racism is a deal breaker for me though. I won't have any of that.

  • Berlin needs to get back with Bruford for some great sex.

  • @thesultanofswing86 The band is called Bruford.

  • Great performance of an already great composition.

  • Interesting stuff

  • Why can't this band get together and tour. There is NOTHING even remotely out there like this now; nor will there ever be.

  • what i loved about jeff berlin back then was that although he played kinda like jaco, he did it with jack bruce's fat & farty bass tone.

  • Very few bassists can accomplish and are able to cope with the extreme complex music that that man can execute on the bass. He is the best, there is no question.

  • Great performance, but the director and cameramen should never work again. Most AWFUL production I've ever seen. No good views of the other players, besides Bruford, while they were giving it their all but a brief shot of Holdsworth and Berlin. Still, I'm glad you shared this.

  • bill bruford

  • @thesultanofswing86 Bill Brufird Band-Sahara...( song).B.Bruford , ex-Yes Member,in this formation has two album , " Feel so good " and " One Of Kind"

  • @ohmproduct

    *Feels good to me.

  • @ohmproduct No. The band is called Bruford and this lineup has made Feels Good to Me, One of a Kind and The Bruford Tapes. Gradually Going Tornado also sound much like those two.

  • @ohmproduct

    And Gradually Going Tornado.

    :)

  • @ohmproduct Bill Bruford with Bruford on drums/perc, Dave Stewart on keys, Jeff Berlin on bass, Allan Holdsworth on guitar.

Albums: Feels Good To Me, One of a Kind, Gradually Going Tornado, Bruford Tapes (poorly recorded live).

Worth getting Allan Holdsworth "Road Games", "Metal Fatigue" and the band "UK" first album.

  • I like it! like it! like it! :))

  • you have good taste !

  • Good lord, this song is terrifying -- like a more chaotic, less repetitive version of KC's "Red" with the virtuosity cranked to eleven. Amazing.

  • @richcapo A little pretencious, no? I think Allan Holdsworth and Bill Bruford is enough virtuosity on one stage. Maybe you should try find some more complexity within the simplicity.

  • thanks thanks thanks

  • Great performance! But I must say I did freak out a little when I saw Jeff Berlin. It's the first time I saw him without a moustache.

  • awesome song!! Jeff Berlin is the man!

  • Great tune/ great band. But those suspenders make me mental.

  • This vid was shot before the album was even recorded- this was the very first live performance of this material and the songs were still being written and arranged.

  • This was a superb band.

  • I was fortunate enough to see this tour at the Roxy in Los angeles and I will never forget it. Thank you.

  • awesome :)

  • at 00:46, didn't they use that sample in the New Twilight Zone intro theme? :)

kinda bummed they skipped over some of the synth work (at 3:40) that's on the vinyl version. Still a great live performance here, tough.

Saw this lineup in high school for this tour. Small venue (Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel) in a small state (RI ;), up close, incredible sound, blown away...

  • 3:25 is fucking awesome! The sound of that chord is amazing!

  • I beg to differ. This is a fantastic composition and does justice to the intracacies of the band. It seems to be played a bit fast, but it's live so what the hell.

  • This is the band from Bill Brufords "One of a kind Cd". One of the best Prog albums of all time, Also Look into Brufords "Feels good to me" and "Gradually going Tornado" This is not the same Dave Stewart as the Eurythmics DUH! And this is probably the weakest track on "One of a Kind" it does'nt do the rest of the Cd justice.

  • One mess I'd like to find myself in...

  • he plays the key's a little bit faster than eddie jobson. but jobson plays cleaner so its hard to tell witch one plays it better

  • very nice

  • Freaking fantastic!! Where did you find this? Thankyou for posting this.
