I saw Billy play a clinic in Cols, OH when I was in my early 20s, some 17 years ago. He was at the local drum shop. I was just leaving with my new pails, my first "NICE" kit. He said "Nice pails kid". His clinic was awesome too... lol
Hot damn, listen to how well the kits are tuned. The sound of the skins alone is hypnotic before anyone else even plays a note. You can often tell a good drummer just as they are setting up because of this, before they even play one bar of a backbeat.
I picked up the "A Funky Thide of Sings" record back in the early 80s for the solo but honestly know near nothing about BC. I was wondering if anyone can help me understand why when later on he only set up his rack toms as a lefty? Thanks!
I'm in the front row of the audience with my mum. She's with us no more so thanks for posting! Still use some of the stuff Billy demonstrated that evening, brings back good memories! Seen him play many times since and always an inspiration. Watched and met Buddy Rich that same year! Lucky to be exposed to such great players when just a kid starting out.
The 1st guy has Tony, Phily Joe and Billy plus Tony influences,in the phrasing I mean,me too, as well as Gadd, Frank Beard and Steves Jordan and Ferrone. So many of mine. Ringo, Stan Lynch,Freddie Below, Francis Clay, SP Leary to Bonham. Damn I love the drums and drummers I guess
Thanks for posting this. There was precious little coverage for drummers back then and many British drummers of a certain age will remember this rare example from the BBC.

I saw BC in clinic with Dom Fumalaro in the mid 80's. I was young at the time and couldn't comprehend much. Thanks for posting.
