Thank you @swimmer74100 for calling that to my attention. I must've done that a while back and didn't realize what I was doing. lol. I fixed it just for you, so now you can embed away my friend! :-) Enjoy!
Would really like to share this with friends on FB, but I cannot embed this video. It was not restricted in this way the last time I viewed it. What a shame.
@AmazingItalianGirl But...for some reason we fail to realize that this is what 3rd world countries endure in 2011. As Savgal states, this is where we are headed. We just borrowed money from China. We can't take something from nothing. I personally think we are living in the great depression. Many are unemployed and homeless. Every dollar you make goes right back to bill collectors and landlords. You pay off school until death, and your house. Its easier not to work than it is to work.
Here is where we ar eheaded again, folks. only THIS Time? Much wors and much longer.. We store food, buy silver, get out of your 401 K and get gold and sliver, buy TANGIBLES, Guns ammo land non hybrid seeds, these people had no warning, we have! You can see the slow decline of the world's economies, get ready and Pre , prep, PREP!! Get out of debt, get skills, get self sufficient!! Hunt fish GROW!!
I'm a theatre student in a sound class and we are suppose to find music to match our emotional reaction to a picture he gave us. This is perfect, would you mind if I used it?
what a great video. i have been browsing several to find a good "do now" for my lesson on the great depression..i think this is the winner! i think the kids are going to appreciate the visuals along with the statistics and facts provided. this is a great video!! if you don't mind, i'd really love to use it in my lesson!!
@vietnamgal the kids really liked it and were surprised about a lot of the facts. I love being able to actually SHOW them rather than just talk or read about it!
@nancypetrina Yes, the facts are mind-boggling! That's great to read though. That's really the reason I love making short historical videos. People really stop and think, "This really happened and this is what it looked like. Real people experienced these things." It's no longer words on a page. You feel for them as well. Thanks for giving me a follow-up on how it went! I love it.
The travesty is, we didn't learn ANYTHING! Even when the Emperor naked shorted in the weeds right under our noses. We just FORGOT...yet again!

YOUR personal finances are subject to manipulation, have been for years. Debt is the main tool to control you. Not the only one, but the most effective one. Free yourself.
@Funkolusable what's the project, if you don't mind me asking? I don't really mind. Just as long as credits made where due! I'm still stunned anyone comes across mine. There're so many out there. Good luck with your project :)
wow this is really good. Right now i have to do a report on the Great Depression. it's kind of confusing cuz we have to make a tv show presentation. but anyway your slide show is really good
@ferretgal99 Thank you! Wow, I wouldn't even know where to begin with that project! Good luck w/ the presentation though! Hopefully this gave you some inspiration or ideas! :)
Brilliant. Unfortunately, there are far too many people these days with their hand out for welfare to blow on poker machines, cigarettes, booze and drugs that have no idea what true hardship is, and was.
This brought me to tears, I had to email it to my history teacher to show him as well. Wonderful choice of music and I really liked your idea of the voiceover. You did a wonderful job, you must've gotten a wonderful grade as well.
hey this is a great vid and im supposed to find a video for a presentation, not taking credit for making it, for my english class and this is just what i was looking for and i wanted to ask your permission to use it..
most of the world live like this in such poverty right now. only the decadent west has enjoyed comforts. these scenes can still be found in india and pakistan today. hunger is within boundary.
Comparing our current economic situation to the Great Depression is ignorant. This is no where near as bad as those times.
You're damn right it's a big deal when us white middle class people suffer, we're paying your damn welfare and disability while you sit home and watch youtube.
I guess if the middle class are suffering, then you on welfare or disability sitting at home and watching youtube. You know shouldn't say ignorant things we do not need to talk about race thats pretty tasteless, also irrelevant. I'm glad your kind of ignorance is dying out each day at least, with the death of one fiend the world becomes a better place.
Very artistic portrait of their hardest times, well done. Too bad nobody cares about economic/budgeting misery until white middle class people suffer......
this video shows that the recession we're in right now is nothing compared to what our grandparents had to go through. The US still held it together. America IS a great country. Great video. :]
This was a very strong video, the music really helped.
I hope you don't mind if I use this music in my great depression Photostory vid. for school. We have to prestent a letter to prsident bennet asking for assistance, with the role we were given.
thank you for this video. i can see the parallels between 1929 and 2009. this was the year i lost everything because of the crisis. it´s good to know that our grandparents could get along with every decade even the war.
As a history and social studies teacher I recognized many of Dorthea Langes' work. To say I was moved by your interpretation would be an understatement. You worry about people being bored but I think you could have added on an extra minute or so and still kept interest high. Maybe an addition like how much GNP dropped over the first few years or the Hoover administrations laissiez faire attitude toward the economy. Grand work, thank you for posting this and God bless.
Thank you very much! Even I thought it was a bit short, but at the time I made it I was more concerned about the attention span of my classmates! Those are great suggestions. Thanks again and God bless!
This is fine work. It should be required viewing in all highschools. Our cultural obsession with materialism and with what is unimportant is shown for what it is when we watch a clip like this.
I remember the Depression very well and the Dirty 30s. Lot of these are Dust Bowl pictures. I remember a lot of wealthy people went broke.

****This is a guess****
If the average man in 1929 worked 9-5 (8 hrs) and was paid 55cents per hour his pay for the week was.... $17.60
If the average man in 1933 worked 9-5 (8 hrs) and was paid 5cents per hour his pay for the week was... $2.80
