@rogerpenna Baseball is very traditional. It would be seen at too gaudy putting players above the club. Baseball has other ways to do that like with the big contracts, etc. Think of the same way Brazil doesn't change its national football kit because of tradition.

Santiago Bernabeu is amazing, if you like soccer and you happen to be in Madrid - go to tour de bernabeu even if you're Barcelona fan, it's a stadium but there are cafes, restaurants, shops, museum. It's like a temple of football/soccer.

Yes those stadiums youve just stated are capable of welcoming plenty of fans but keep in mind those people dont have seats, their arse is on a bench that circles the stadium. Besides the Bernabeu is the most beautiful and spectacular statium you'll ever see in present day. The locker rooms, cafes, restaurents and suits are unreal, its really a sight to see so who cares how big other stadiums are when you have a modern jewel like this.

This stadium opened in 1947. In the 50's it hosted crowds of 120,000. Now, due to strict UEFA regulations (no benches or standing places), its capacity was reduced to 80,000 individual seats atm.

Anyway, you don't seem to grasp how big Real Madrid is. They don't depend on attendance, they have around 60 million fans around the world. Their budget for this year is 351 million euros, that's 490 million dollars.

2) It's easy to have huge stadiums if they all have benches, all the stadiums in Europe would have capacities of 70,000 or more if we did that. Maracana (Rio de Janeiro) used to have a capacity of 250,000, now only 100,000.

Benches? Capacity was changed because people died and a bunch more were injured when the upper deck collapsed in 1992. I think bad engineering is a good reason to change the capacity. Not it seats 88,992.

@fol2005 I'm a huge college football fan, but comparing stadiums like these, that are probably used 5-7 times a year almost to capacity, to the majestic Santiago Bernabeu that is probably used closer to 35 times a year to absolute capacity is pretty stupid.
