I don't really follow politics but its mostly because who am i suppose to believe? Every politic person states all these changes their going to do but they never follow through so its confusing who to trust. Why can't we vote for some poor guy from the hood cuz that guy knows what sucks and needs fixed
You're not alone, man. Unfortunately, it is going to take a long time, and a lot of backsliding to get over this issue. In my opinion the world is waking up, people are changing. It is unfortunate that the most ready to adopt new ideals are the minority. Even more depressing is the old ideals (if mindlessness is an ideal) live on through the indoctrination of their children
The problem with out the political system is OBVIOUS! The person who gets elected isn't necessarily the smartest person, or the most decisive person, or even the best person for the job... the person who gets elected is simply the person who is best at getting elected... ie. the person who is best at convincing people to vote for them... nothing else! This is why politicians pander, why they are known to be liars, because that is who this flawed system selects. Is there a better way? Idk
I'm not mad so much as I am disappointed. You'd think by now we'd have come up with a system that did not encourage lying and BSing and pandering.
My main problem with American politics is that we practically worship the Constitution. This thing is two-odd centuries old, yet it is still the main focus of the law, and the main idol of politicians. If it were perfect it wouldn't have needed amendments. I wish we could chuck it out and write something new, like the Fathers did to the monarchy.
@brumagemm tbh I think the Constitution is a brilliant document. But unfortunately it is also one of the things that politicians don't give a fuck about.
@the1janitor The politician's disregard. I might not be paying enough attention, but it always seems to me they take the Constitution more seriously than anything else really.
@brumagemm Sure they claim to. But then they invent and support things like the Patriot Act, the National Defense Authorization Act, Executive Orders, even though all of those things are clearly unconstitutional. They try to claim America is a "Christian Nation", when the Constitution literally says verbatim that there shall be no official religion. Among other things.
@the1janitor Well, in a manner of speaking we ARE a Christian nation, but that's a separate matter entirely.
That's a really good point though, and each of those things had a lot of support from the right-wing community, so it goes back to the point about pandering.
The fact that Ron Paul has a 100% constitutionally abiding voting record, and is obviously pretty frank about the shit he says is enough hope for me. Even if you don't agree with some of his policies you have to admit having a politician who says what he actually beleives surging in the polls is the shit.
@ForlornTerrace its only 100% constitutionally abiding if you go by ron pauls ambiguous definition of what that means. i think ron paul believes what he says, which is definitely refreshing. its just that what he says is halfway insane. and as i say in the video. he doesn't care what history has to say. he doesn't care what experts have to say. he doesn't care whether or not his policies will actually work. he only cares about his ideology and his agenda, in spite of whether he believes it.
Bill O'Reilly=not funny. There's a lot of socio-political comments in South Park...but, yeah it is tied to satire. As far as "fixing things" goes, as long as there are billions to be made off the backs of the broken many don't consider it (whatever it is) in need of fixing. Anger may get you nowhere but an upset tummy. I had to learn to smile (hello South Park) at the whole stink bomb.
I am also mad. Politicians are essentially paid a professional wage to perform amateurishly, if they manage to perform anything at all. And usually what they do is just bad.
And one of the biggest things that annoy me is that Norman Borlaug saved a billion people but you can be rest assured more people know who Lady GaGa is.
Oh. And welcome to old age. Old people complain all the time :p
I agree with everything you say. I know you have some problems with Ron Paul but I truely believe he is the only voice out there that is not bullshitting you - he says what he believes. Republicans are afraid of him AND Democrats are afraid of him and that should tell you that something!! We all need to get behind him before they find a way to run him out of the campaign. He is the last shot we have at dealing with reality before this whole country falls apart...

Why is Ron Paul tagged in this video yet not mentioned in the video? Especially since he is obviously the truthful politician the guy is wanting.

@the1janitor Why do you say that?
Also, I hope you had a nice Christmas.

@brumagemm What? That the Constitution is brilliant, or that politicians don't care about it? Also, Christmas was just fine :)
