BTW: I loo for ppl who had such a thumb-op. I also want to know whether anyone can play piano after such a thumb-op, or does not have the constant adjustment problems in arm-hand-muscles that I suffer from. @debbie, I have to watch your vid once more - could not just get ev.thing. I met a man who said, his wife is crying after thub-op, let glasses fall down bc. of the overwhelming ache - do you have this too?
@Pianda I am able to use my thumb ok but it is still sore and I have some numbness in the area behind my nail. I have terrible spinal problems already and have had neck surgery years before this thumb surgery. I had a large cyst between my nail and the first joint so I could not use my thumb properly before the surgery. I feel like the surgery helped me even though my thumb will never be like it was before the cyst and arthritis. Thanks for watching. I hope your thumb gets better.
@debbiez112 so if you had neck surgery then I think your hand probs come from the neck (as most; parts of the neck-ill persons have 2 uneven legs which causes neck-probs, but no doctor is going to the origine of the probs!!!! which is criminal behaviour). My physiotherapist began at the NECK (not the hand); please check vids like "Karpaltunnel" and hand/thumb vids ("ickfa"). My probs after surg. were diff. from yours, but I met the husband of a woman that is also crying and ...
@Pianda ....letting fall down glasses from pain- this will be a prob of nerves after thumb-op. Today I came home from AIKIDO...can't do this,bc. my arm still hurt bc. the muscles are in a wrong function mode (thumb-op-cons).....but there I learned to train my hand/arm- joint...together with ickfa's vids this may also serve you. Do you know have a reason for this pain? I have to admit that I do not understand your message too well. Please let check you (neck) by a good physiotherapist
@Pianda I do not seen to have the problem you are talking about. I have some soreness still and some numbness behind my nail that the DR said will take time to go away.
I have had one neck surgery years ago and I am crippled in a wheelchair from spinal arthritis so I sure hope this thumb surgery never causes me anymore neck problems.
Thanks for watching. I hope your thumb gets well soon.
my muscles in the arm and the hand are so different in fnction from what my brain/body ACTUALLY requires! So with every movement I rearange the whole musles by INTENTION, which is so annoying! My physiotherapist said, 2-3 % have strong problems in the hand after hand-operation, but she admitted that the thumb-op is worsening the neck-spine-situation. Find a good hand-phsyioth. that can support your spine/cervical-spine situation.
most ppl who have thumb problems like arthrosis have primary neck-problems. When operated at the thumb, the whole muscles change their function (worse!!!!) and this has consequences back to the neck. I experienced this and I hate the doctor who - without reason, it was only arthritis - lied at me and said: "everything will be as before"!!!! 4 years of big problems in neck. Now I go to a hand-physiotherapist: she helps me that much to rearrange my cervical spine and my spine bone-but still:
So sorry to hear the thumb hurts so bad. The thumb is very essential to hand movement. I see you have had 16 surgeries. I only have 9 but I'm still young lol ;)
Continue to get better and better.
OMG with the undercooked fish. You are having a rough time of it :(
@silverscreamgrl Thanks Beth I think it is the removal of the bone spurs that has caused so much pain because I have had cyst removed before that was not even painful. This have the whole area around that joint swelled up and throbbing. :( Oh yes the pain was not bad enough I had to have some food poisoning to make sure I felt really bad. lol Lets just say I don't want fish for a long time.
@Texasred63 I was a big baby too. It was some of the worst pain I have ever felt. I hope I never have to have anymore surgery. I hate going through it. This was #16 for me. I think that is enough for anybody that is 53 years old.
Oh Debbie, i feel for you after going through so much. i will say a wee prayer for you and hopefully you will make a good recovery. i take a huge amount of meds for my back as well and then when i have to go to hospital they have to give ne stronger meds as im so used to it. thats nice that your son is going to help for thanksgiving. you take it easy for a while and heal up. xxxx
@CinnamonSpice100 I had a ruptured disc in my neck repaired and got a staff infection in the operating room that took two years to heal up. So I am a bit scared of surgeries now. :(
Bless your heart. I've been so worried about you. I hope and pray you will be pain free by Thanksgiving. I love you.... from your Big (older) Sis... <3 Nina
@B1TCHY08 Thanks Sis don't worry I will survive this. I think it is going to take a little longer than I expected to get over it. Love you too Sis. :)
Wow Debbie, you have really been having a time of it! I'm so sorry that you have been having so much pain to deal with and food poisoning on top of that! Wow.. But, at least it is over now and you are on the mend. I'm sure you will feel better each day. Sleep is good!! At least you aren't in pain when asleep! :)) Rest all weekend and by Monday, it should feel lots better! Hope so anyway!!
Oh my Goodness, sorry to hear it is so bad. I'm glad you had the help of your dear neighbor to help you ge more medication. I would say finish up the pain medication and get that sleep it gives you. Let your body heal and rest as much as you can. Be sure to eat a little something though, If I were there, I would bring you chicken soup. I hope your neighbor checks on you.
I would report that restaurant to the food health inspecters in town. I am sending you healing thoughs.
Oh Debbie! I am so sorry you have had to go through all this!! What a shame. It does sound like you had food poisoning. You poor thing! Just take it easy and sleep as much as you need. The rest will help you heal. Sending positive vibes and I know you will be feeling better soon. We tough broads always win out! xo
Holy smokes! Food poisoning plus all that pain? Good golly!!! Let yourself sleep as much as you can over the next couple of days - by then the worst of the pain will ease up so long as your tolerance isn't too low. One of the problems with pain meds is that as your tolerance to them rises, the sensation of the pain you feel rises. My nephew found that out when he had his 2nd back surgery this year. Good for you for doing the ornaments early - I've got 5 hours into mine and have just 3rd one! :)
@thizizliz I have had to deal with lots of pain and can take it pretty good but omg this was unbearable pain. I have no idea why it was so painful. I have had 4 knee surgeries that were never that painful. I have been resting. I think it will take some time to get over this little minor surgery. ya right. lol
I only had to make 3 ornaments since I am in a group of 4 so that worked out best for me with my thumb hurting even before surgery.
@debbiez112 You know, one of my sisters had bone spurs removed from her shoulder and it was terribly painful as well. I do hope this eases up for you quite soon; hers did within a few days but the first physical therapy was a booger for her. Wishing you luck with it!!!!!!!!
