Hi, what is the height of your headboard? I am reupholstering an old one and I think it is too high. I have a Queen bed. I like the height of your headboard.
I turned off the sound because of the annoying song...anyway, they didn't give any good instructions on how to make it. After seeing all the videos on youtube about upholstery, good ones and bad ones I have decided to make my own headboard and put an extensive video for all out there that want another way of making one. I have over 30 years upholstery experience and want to help out. I will be posting the video in a few weeks.
Not useful....and spent half the video only shooting the finished project. Skipped the part about installing the buttons. Good idea on recycling an old door.
@tommyuy I agree with you on the soundtrack. I love progressive dance music but prefer to be taken out to the back and shot than to listen to this soundtrack
Yes. There are several tutorials out there. Basically you pre drill tiny holes in the back of the board where you want the buttons to go. Than you use a long needle and wire (?) to attach. Some folks say it's good to scoop out some of the foam where the buttons will go especially if you are using a thick piece of foam.
I like the solid Headboard vs. the iron board towards the feets of the bed, and the end result overall. However I do agree with some of the comments in here, it's not a how-to video....
BTW title ought to be "Door to headboard end result not process" vs. "how-to..." and
Good grief ppl - this person posts a great end product and you sit there criticizing over details. Let's just say Google is your friend if you don't know what 'batting' is and where to obtain it..the point of the video was to show off the end product, a headboard. The fabric is wonderful and jives with the room colors, very hot, I'd sleep in that bed in a shake - good job!

Do this video over(w better/no/quieter music)so that people can see exactly how many inches of door you used for your size bed, how to fit the batting/foam/fabric to the door, how you put those buttons/lining/mounting on, explain batting n where you buy it, etc.You will not spend more than 30 seconds on the finished room shots.Tips-the picture arrangement above the headboard is all wrong. The tall stand next 2 the bed stand has 2 B moved. The side of the room with the candles needs personality.
Good Idea using an old door. Bad Idea not explaining the details. I did not see how you put in the covered buttons or the lining on the back or the mounting on the wall. You spent more time showing off the poorly decorated room than you did explaining the project.
At 0:31 , what's batting? And where can one get some foam? I've seen it at Wal Mart but only in small quantities. Great vid, I'm hoping to start this project before the new semester begins! :)
it really is fabulous...Moulin Rouge is my absolute favoritest movie! So I'm finally moving out of my parents' home in a couple of weeks and I'm going to try to create a MR themed room too. I'm going to take a stab at making a similar headboard. One small suggestion...I think you need a little bit more of a luxurious bedspread to do the room justice.
Hi i saw on your headboard that you had, i don't know what their called but almost like buttons big red round things i have them on my sette how do you put them on and so they pull the fabric in towards them? thanks
That is really creative. I am really impressed with how easy you made it look. Good job!

I really love it! how did you do the buttons?? You should make the foot board to match the headboard!
All you would have to do is cut the wood a bit larger and put fabric on both sides and attach to the metal frame.
You could staple one side. For the other side turn and iron the edges, then hot glue over the staples so it looks finished.
