What we did was plug the mixer to the sub then daisy chain up to the thump - having it so that only the high and mids came through the thumps and all the bass throught the subs! 1.8KW in total! nice vid.
i did a wedding gig friday night with 2 of these running along side 2 mackie SW1501 acitve subs and they just sounded fierce the bride and groom and almost all of the guests commented on how good they were. Even at high levels the clarity of these speakers is just incredible. would rate them 10/10.
i'm guessing your parents werent home. if you were my kid, id beat your ass.. lol naw but how do you like those speakers? i'm thinking about getting them
about 4 will do the job for 200-300 people. make sure you use good judgment on your speaker placement, and they should handle fine.
if you're playing a lot of music with heavy bass, i'd recommend getting a Tapco TH-18s to relieve some of the stress off of the TH-15a's. i'm not sure if the Tapco version of the TH-18s is still in production, but i know Mackie makes a version of the TH-18s as well.
@tobykuhnert1 good to hear! i use two of these and a Mackie TH-18s for my band and for mobile dj'ing as well. the set up provides good power. i would like to have another pair of thumps so i can provide better audience coverage and eliminate the dead zones in halls. but we can't always get what we want i suppose. glad to hear your set up is working great though. i really do love these speakers.
Tapco is actually a very good speaker. they are made by Mackie manufacture. They just made them about a year ago and it 's purpose was for people who cant afford Mackie could still buy Tapco which is made by the same company. its like Acura if you cant afford it you'll most likly to buy Honda...
Wow, your a sick fuck with nothing better to do. Btw KRK are a division of LOUD technologies witch Mackie and tapco are apart of, So saying tapco sucks is like saying Mackie sucks. Wich would make you sound like a complete Fucking idiot because they have active speakers that are second to none. Do your reasearch and get a fucking life.
Same here! Alot of people are saying they suck... They really don't... I used to rent jbl eons, witch are sick but i find the thumps have better highs.
Whats you question? you have to plug into main output on your mixer of course if thats the answer to you question. Think for yourself, if you turn the speakers on and they arent pluggedinto any signal, what do you think will happen? nothing will cause they are only getting power and no signal
nah... i meant do you need to plug each speaker to ur house power mains... cuz for passive speakers u connect them through da powered amplifier then through the mixer then into the speaker...and for an active speaker such as ur Tapco Thump speakers u dont need a powered amplifier cuz the speaker is already amplified... so what im tryin to say is that do u have to connect each speaker separately into ur house power mains cuz obviously the speaker cant power itself...without electricity.......
yes you do, each speaker needs to be plugged into the wall, there is a seperate amplifier for each speaker, and they all need power, so if you have 30 active speakers, you need 30 power outlets.
They work great, i got my first gig with some grade 6's and 7's for an hour and a half. There was 150 of them learning hiphop moves :S but the instructor was hot!! and she was bending over and dancing in front of the setup ;) I also did a thing at a school for a stop motion video presentation that the school did. The build quality solid and the sound even more. I love them. with super high quality music you cna push these to the bitter edge.
Dude that sounds AWESOME...... i can here the bass... Its even shaking my room just buy playing this.....

rytheguy01 2 years ago
no they wont, i have them. you need a decent subwoofer, and kill the bass to the mackies.... will do the job.
KnoCantMix 2 years ago
@akakilla1 these speakers peak to easy you wouldn't want to go over 50-60 people with these speakers

yes you do, each speaker needs to be plugged into the wall, there is a seperate amplifier for each speaker, and they all need power, so if you have 30 active speakers, you need 30 power outlets.

The speakers have their own amps, so you need a wall outlet for each one, then you need a signal wire for each one.
