How about id software just gives us a 'DooM' game where we can have all weapons at ounce with a health and armor system and neither of them regenerate. No vehicles not an open world just doom. Where we walk into a room with a ton of demons and blowing them away with a shotgun. But I want it to have an amazing story where there are different endings that lasts 20 hours.

@Haukthefurry i think you're forgetting that quake had rpg elements and it turned out amazing, in fact it was originally meant to be a medieval themed fantasy rpg hence the medieval levels. they later on ditched the original story since the developers were lazy after finishing the quake engine. instead they made it a doom clone with an extremely similar storyline.
Doom 3 is DE' best horror-terror game to be ever made, it makes F.E.A.R (the entire series) look like pure, processed shit, this game series is great, and I hope that doom 4 will be as it's precedents.

@Ski11etFr3ak lol doom 1 and 2 weren't like that and the reason it was dark was due to it being ran in realtime. doom 3 still isn't playable as of today without you getting a shitty FPS because the graphics was so far ahead of it's time, if they added extra lighting it would hamper performance. john carmack said this, but that's what made the game so great.

With the newer graphics you're less likely to need to employ your willing suspension of disbelief. You can't judge games made over a decade apart by their graphics though. The biggest thing would be how fun is the game, and what's it's replay value. The more linear a game is the less replay value it sustains.

@zauii89 Are you serious? The single player campaign SUCKED in comparison of the original games. If it IS a spin-off. Then shouldn't it not be the third games in the main canonical series? Doom 3's single player, had VERY few enemies from the beginning and far through the game. You didn't even get to FIGHT enemies until you get to Mars City Underground! And they're just weak melee zombies, and some ones with pistols and machine guns. You were lucky if you encountered a lot. Made it LESS BORING!

@Ski11etFr3ak lol doom 1 and 2 weren't like that and the reason it was dark was due to it being ran in realtime. doom 3 still isn't playable as of today without you getting a shitty FPS because the graphics was so far ahead of it's time, if they added extra lighting it would hamper performance. john carmack said this, but that's what made the game so great.

I haven't been a fan of CoD for a while now because they are just milking a market that will buy anything that says CoD on it now. doom is an ok game the only thing i dont like about it and similar games is that you are ALWAYS alone, its annoying as soon as you meet someone they die 5 seconds later, would be alot more fun but possibly alot less scary if you could maybe have a squad mate or 2 or even a co-op mode

Why do I get the feeling they are going to turn doom 4 into another piece of shit pseudo rail shooter that's got zero replay value, and completely lacks the feel of the original... The only good thing about Doom 3 was that you could get a high frame rate since all yer graphics card was producing was a black screen.

@TheSepaugh Well yes of course the original Doom title would be less frightening then the new release. It's a simple matter of graphics. With the newer graphics you're less likely to need to employ your willing suspension of disbelief. You can't judge games made over a decade apart by their graphics though. The biggest thing would be how fun is the game, and what's it's replay value. The more linear a game is the less replay value it sustains.

@zauii89 Are you serious? The single player campaign SUCKED in comparison of the original games. If it IS a spin-off. Then shouldn't it not be the third games in the main canonical series? Doom 3's single player, had VERY few enemies from the beginning and far through the game. You didn't even get to FIGHT enemies until you get to Mars City Underground! And they're just weak melee zombies, and some ones with pistols and machine guns. You were lucky if you encountered a lot. Made it LESS BORING!

Doom 4 or Doom, is going to take place on Earth when demons/hell spawn attack, it's going to be like Doom 2 hell on earth except with better graphics new weapons and new environment with a storyline. Doom 4 or Doom will be released in 2012 or 2013.
