You have to remember FFVII is the original and CC and all of these other stories were likely created and developed a bit afterward. I just don't think some of the new fans get it and I don't know if they ever can seeing as it's been so long since it's release and the experience will likely be very different with the way they are used to the type of games that come out these days. I just don't know if it will have the intended impact. The way I understood it when I played it all those years ago.

I hate to generalize, but I really feel a lot of these "new-age" FFVII fans aren't that into Cloud/Aeris because they didn't experience FFVII when it was the ONLY game and when it first came out. When I first played it when I was a child, it was obviously Cloud/Aeris. I love Zack, but I honestly think they overdramatized and retconned his and Aeris' relationship a bit in CC. I don't like Cloud/Tifa, but I dislike it regardless of whether or not I like Cloud/Aeris.

This is true, but you have to read "The Maiden who Travels the Planet" a short story supervised by square. Yes she did love Zack but she also fell for Cloud. At first it was the similarities that attracted her but she noticed that Cloud was quite different from Zack and her feelings developed even more.

For short Cloud grew on her as they spent more time together.

CloTi, not sure about this, it is very possible but as of now there is no real pairing between those two except in Tifa's heart.

Actually... I understand why you hate Zerith. Because it was almost insignificant/invisible in the original game, but got blown out of proportion in Crisis Core. I mean, Aerith didn't even knew he died (didn't feel his presence) in the original game, yet it was retconned in CC. Things like that annoys me lol.

I don't know that I'd call what Aeris had with Zack a light crush. She only knew Cloud for about 2 months, and knew Zack for about 1 to 1.5 years before he went missing. It certainly wasn't a light thing for Zack. The poor guy died just trying to get back to her. I think Aerith was in denial about Zack. Plus Cloud was basically like Zack in the beginning. Romeo and Juliet were even younger than Zaerith when they fell in love so I don't think the whole first love thing can be discounted.

Maiden and Case of Tifa aren't games. They're novels written after the game to show what happened to Aerith after she died and what becomes of Cloud and Tifa's relationship - not much! :P But SquareEnix IS Squaresoft they just merged with another company that's all. But I agree with you, in AC the characters are out of character and Crisis Core does contradict a few things stated in the original game so I usually stick with original game evidence. AC and CC are just easier clips to get.

No if you watched ff ac properly you will see that at the end zack and aeris are together in the promised land. Clouds only option now is tifa he doesnt have the choice between tifa and aeris

Biggs, Jesse, Hojo etc are all in the lifestream too though as shown in Maiden. Quote from Maiden who travels the planet Aerith to Zack -"Someone who has had so many girls can never be a lover" Also "Things have changed after 5 years Zack" and finally "She searched her memories again. Yes she loved him(Cloud) more than her first love (Zack)" Now I LIKE Zerith even in the original game but it's had it's time. She's over him and as a result like I said earlier Aerith is likely to end up alone.

I adore the Cloud/Aerith relationship than Zack/Aerith. I love the song... Its really sad that Cloud never got the love that Aerith had wanted to give him..... ;)
