  • i'm assuming that this is in the UK because here in america we have 120 volt outlets except for the air conditioner, oven , and dryer

  • 248 watts? Never heard of a 248 watt outlet. Actually, judging from its apparent size and output, I would assume that this coil requires a 240 VOLT service and likely draws a few thousand WATTS. watts = volts x amps x power factor. There's also an exact replica of this coil at the Mid-America Science Museum in Hot Springs, AR which I have seen in operation.
