  • on the manual it said to hook up the green wire to a power supply on the ebrake switch. and you are saying to ground it? moving the yellow to the 4th spot what does that do?

  • So you just have to ground the switch and connect the green wire to the switch also? To turn on the switch on and off.

My other question does the switch get really hot?

  • @yangej25. Thx homie and yeah that was the problem pin kept piping out when I would plug it in

  • your a fucking stupid cocksucker motherfucker. i hate you and you suck at life drive your car off a cliff.

  • @DAVIDHERNANDEZ7070 Thanks for the works of encouragment.. I hope you do the same too.

  • @ yangej25 any help would b greatly appreciated I just don't get it it's worked for me for years and I change it to another car and it wants to mess with me

  • @Ju3tfits Sorry for late reply. I just got on here after quite a while. If you changed vehicle and it didnt work most likely the mute wire that you switch has gotten loose and is not all the way in. Just make sure that its all the way in. I had the same thing happen to me also when I removed it from my car to my sister's car.

  • Ok so I have had this unit for quite some time now an I have had it by passed since day one same way you have done it ... So I jut switched out cars today and installed it had to put on new harness I connected everything them same and when I started to go around the block the message came up on my screen what could b the problem ?!?

  • ok wtf r u guys typing, im thee girliest girl, im bying this unit and just wanted to know,,, if i go too fast will the dvd stop playing or what im reading u guys messages and its chinese to me lol, so whats up wit the speed and the unit,,, please reply

  • Do u have to have a switch or can u just connect the yellow and black wire to the green wire

  • can u come do dat to mine? i stay in dallas texas please and thank u

  • thanks yangej25 thats work perfect on my f900bt and f150 truck, thanks again!!!

  • is this works with the avicf700bt????

  • @dariomtz08 i believe it is the same setup. i havent looked at the wiring but i do think so.

  • @dariomtz08 yea nigga!

  • what about the speed sensor how do you hook that back up?????

  • hey yangej25............ all you have to do is get you green wire and splice the ground wire and connect to a simple switch and when the deck ask you to put the car in park and press the parking brake . all you do is flip = the switch.

  • I heard it was impossible to bypass pioneers from professionals due to software and gyrosensor. Guess you proved them wrong or your lying. This stereo unit is a pos anyways and more expensive. get a kenwood.

  • @jurkis1 no i'm not lying about this video; the bypass does work. Professional, the install guys cannot and are not suppose to do the bypass. The bypass voids the factory warrenty. I do agree that this unit is a very expensive unit and for the money I would rather get an eclipse or alpine. Eclipse is very easy to bypass and i like the lcd quality better but i got this off impulse so, i'm suck with it haha

  • Boloni

  • @atvstel What do you mean boloni??? It works and it works great... I dont see you posting any vids on here on how to bypass it..

  • @yangej25 The specific hole you are mentioning, has no metal leads inside. In this cases, the pin connector hole is called "empty" or "not used". It is like installing a wall outlet without wires going behind the wall. So, your idea has no support. It is all plastic inside. The other holes have lead inside. What is your explanation? Is that how you bypass the build in gyrosensor? Or did you disable the GPS signal temporarily just to make the video.

  • @atvstel . All the successful reply is my support that this bypass works and is not boloni. Why dont you grow some balls and create your own vids on bypassing this unit instead of bashing other people who actually did.

  • nice vid

  • hi, just to make sure... i take the yellow, green and black (ground) wires and connect all of them at the their ends?

also, do I have to connect all of them to the metal part of my car, or are the yellow and green wires already grounded because they are connected to the black(ground) wire?

  • @playazinc666 if yellow and green is connected to black then if will already be grounded if black is on the metal of car.

  • i blew my battery while playing a loud song for some reason, so i borrowed my dads and grounded it to the black and zing, it worked on the 910bt. i have yet to try it while driveing but i have not connected the speed wire so theres no reason 4 it not to work. Thanks again 4 the vid help

  • @perro123123 thanks alot for the fast reply. Great Video A+++++++

  • i connected the two "yellow mute that was moved to new position" and the green parking wire but it says it is prohibited to watch ect. do i just connect them or ground to car body? also its the avic 910bt

  • i havenet checked out the 910bt but yeah just ground it to the car body.

  • does this work on the AVIC-910BT

  • i am not sure... ihave checked out the 910bt so perro123123 tried it out on 910bt.

  • You can actually just ground the mute wire to the frame...much easier

  • i need help wit jensen

  • hey great video i got 1 question i have the avic f 700 and when i click on setting there 4 icons but only two of them are highlighted the other 2 are gray there for i cant click on them any ideas to help

  • dude you have a fucking sweet car STI baby ! i have a avic n 1 i need some help . can u help me ??????

  • i have everything but the toggle ...it worked for a couple months then started cutting on and off

  • Hey man, great video. I followed your instructions and everything works great. One problem. My Ebrake light on my dash wont go off. could it be where i grounded them?

  • if you connected your Ebrake wire with the ground then yes. it would work best just to ground it instead of having it to the Ebrake.

  • Why not just ground it, then do a soft bypass?

  • just grounding the green wire wont work. i tried that first before i got the bypass, and the unit still notices the car in motion thats why it wont work.

  • By a soft bypass I mean just ground the wire, then go in to the system files and change the data.zip file apl2/igo . . . Do research on a software bypass if you are looking to use a bypass on your unit. Good luck

  • You have to have some actual power going through the ground. Or else, the wire is basically dead.

Still don't understand why you have to move the mute wire.

  • You're awsome dude. It worked just like you said it would.

  • Great video dude! im just having a small problem if you can please give me some advice, i did the same thing and the dvds only play when i come to a stop and once i start going it will stay on till i hit about 5-10 miles per hour and then it says i cant play it while driving and once i stop it comes back on. please help???

  • Great video. Thanks for taking the time to make and share this with everyone. For as many people as you have helped with this video, it is really a shame only 13 of them took the time to give it a 5-star rating after 17,000+ views. Anyway, thanks again!

  • Hello, just wanted to say thank you for this video. This work for me.

  • got a question to anyone who knows...

got f900bt and im trying to do the update i did the update for the head unit from 1.0 to 2.006 anyways; i dont know how to update my maps the still say 2008 version which is 1.0 .... anyone?

  • I think im in the same boat... it's suppose to update the maps for u but iono.. cant tell the difference on mine

  • nice man! i just installed a dual touch screen radio and my friends car and i grounded the parking brake wire, i still had the warning screen come up when we tried to play a dvd but we went back to tuner, then back to dvd and it works, is he always gonna have to do that?

  • Are you talking about a pioneer stereo or a different make? each model and make have their own way of bypassing it. To your question to my email, yes one side ground and the other to the stereo.

  • Sorry about that ...I am talking about the pioneer 900bt system that came with our scion xb...thanks for the info.....

  • Great job on video yangej25...I read all the comments and noticed that Lzone001 had the quickest solution. Hey Lzone001, all I need to do is ground the green e-brake wire and thats it right?

  • Does the GPS still give directions while you have a DVD going?

  • I have no clue... never tried it

  • U are a FUCKING dumbass. I made this video to show ppl how to get the full spec of their navi. I know it's illegal the watch movie while driving b/c it's careless and dangerous. I even said that in my description, if you even read that. Most of us that did this, did it so our kids can watch movies while we're on a road trip or something like that.

  • just ground the green e-brake wire and everyting works,, the watching video's wile driving, entering adresses everything.. you don't neet the mute wire

  • I will pull my deck out and check what the installer did. Thanks again...maby i will try and put a switch in and see what happens. How do you have this switch hooked up? the ground side going to the one side of the switch and the mute going to the other?

  • Hey bud. Thanks for the vid. . But i got a question for you. This has been hooked up like this for roughly 4 months and now i am starting to see a problem with this bypass. The splash screen pops up but after that the screen is blank. and after you hit the master reset in the corner it seems to work a cpl times after that then starts the same thing over again. I pulled the deck out and seen the yellow black wire attached to a wire on the other plug in part...i think its black not green.

  • I've had mine done since august of 08 and it still works fine to this very day. It doesnt matter if its the green or black wire because, if you did what the instructions said then all 3 wires (yellow/black, green, black) are now the same as the black wire (which is ground).

  • Is your unit updated to the 2.0 softwear? How did you hook up the Switch?

  • yes, i updated to the 2.0. just have one side ground and the other you mute wire.

  • one quick question, how do you ground the green wire? do you take the red plastic off or what cuz i cant seem to figure it out. thanks

  • What red plastic are you talking about? All you need to do is get a wire stripper and connect that to a solid black wire or on the car itself

  • couldn't you just run a ground to that slot and save a ton of needless labor?

  • Yup... i emailed those advice to someone haha

  • im sorry, but can you tell me how to ground mute and parking brake wires, i have everything else done, with the way they are shaped i cant seem to find out how to ground them. i know i am a noob at this : )

  • You can either connect it straight to the negative on the battery or you can find a metal part of the car and screw in the wires there. or find a ground wire. To do that you need to look around where the stereo is or under the steeting wheel and there will be black wires that are between and srew and the car.

  • thanks man

  • Thanks man, I'll keep you posted

  • Hey dude, thanks a lot for the video. I will be trying it very soon and I'll let you know how it goes.

Quick question, I keep seeing "ground the wires"

    What exactly does that mean?

  • Ground basically means to just loosen one of the bolts that srews straight onto the car (metal parts of the car) and place it there with the bolt. In other words, it would be like its touching the negative side of the battery.

  • I know that this may sound like a crazy question but how do you put the wire(yellow&black) in the harness? Thanks

  • If you pulled it straight out w/o damaging it then it should go right in with a litte motivation.

  • how does msn direct work for you is accurate at all some people where complaining

  • sorry i dont even use it. Sorry not much help

  • hey i have a avic 90bt...would that work the same? Also whats the difference between the two (avic 90bt, avic900bt)?

  • read the comments... that was discussed previously.

  • Thanks it really works. After watching your video I went out to my car and it took less than 5 minutes! Thanks again.

Poi lei mettono a terra quel filo metallico come bene.

  • hey sorry i went through all your comments and i couldnt find anything to help me ok so i moved the yellow and black wire between the 2 black ones so now do i cut off that plastic thing around that metal thing on the yellow wire? from there what do i do sorry for the inconvenience

  • um... well you can just cut it off and connect it to the green wire and then connect both onto the car (ground it). you dont have to cut or connect it to the green wire but you do need to ground both. hope that helps.

  • Is the switch required or can I just ground both? I am not familiar with the boot up process and weather or not it has to ground at a certain time or if it can just stay grounded constantly.

  • hey dude who made the video how do you like that head unit i am thinkin about getting one myself but not sure its worth it

  • i like pretty well. sometimes the touch screen is super sensitive when you dont want it to be and sometimes its not sensitive enough. overall i like.

  • can this one work with F700BT? anyone know? thanks in advance.

  • If it has the same wire harness then it should work.

  • hey will this work the same for the avic-f90bt?

  • As it was mention in the previous comments: the 90 and th 900 is almost identical so yes.

  • hey my unit was working great then started to reset every 2 mins I called pioneer and they said it was the bypass do you know anything about this

  • hey sorry to hear that your has issue. Mine has been working fine since august of 08 when i first did the bypass and it's in my daily. I really dont know why it is doing that but i'd say its a defect in the unit itself. my advice is to undo it and claim it on the warrenty. but that all depends on were you stand morally and what not. i say that because they will blame it on the bypass so they wont haave to replace the unit when it really is ther fault. hope that helps.

  • I started having the same problem and called pioneer today, they said it was a bypass issue. Although, I think they are referring to a software bypass cause I've heard there is a way to mess with it that way, not the grounding method. I played dumb and they said to send it in and they'd fix it... I intend to bypass it again when I get it back, it's dumb to have to stop when you have a copilot and they're trying to find stuff on the nav when you're goin somewhere

  • What did pioneer end up doing, did they repair it or send you a new one? and did it start happening again?

  • Hello,

    I have one question?

You need to ground the yellow wire and the green wire, and put a on/off switch? not sure if you need to connect the yellow and green wire together to one end of the switch and the other end to the frame of the car, can you please reply.

    Thank you.

  • Hey, no you dont need a switch and yes gound the wires

  • I dont understand why you wouldn't be able to use the navigation in motion straight out the box, That's stupid. Hey Yangej25 thanks for maken this vid.

  • It's a safety precaution; most if not all factory navigation is the same way. They do that because that way you pay more attention to the road. It's N/P glad to help anyone out.

  • Hello, I know this might of been asked but does this work for the navigation too, or just the DVD in motion. Thanks

  • yup

  • hi , Is this gonna work if I dont connect the vss wire for navigation, because mine isnt working

  • you may not even need the vss wire but it should work if you did the same steps as the rest of us.

  • I have a quick question that i didnt see asked or in the video; do you ground those two wires or just connect them?

  • well, by those 2 wire i think you are talking about the yellow black (mute) wire and and the green brake lead.... it is implied that you ground them concidering you have to ground the green wire... also it is mention all over this page to ground them

  • Oh i forgot to mention there is one difference from the 90bt to the 900bt and that is the 90bt has 4V pre-outs while the 900bt's are 2.2V. If your adding an external amp and subs it makes a big difference. Also the Premier has 2 year warranty while the pioneer is 1 year.

  • Man you must get sick of repeating questions, READ THE COMMENTS. Thanks a lot for this. To simplify I switched the yellow (mute) wire then attached the YELLOW (mute), GREEN (parking brake), and BLACK (ground) wires together and grounded that.

  • Haha, yeah i do.

  • ok so i got it installed today with the bypass and it works like a champ now i wanna know if u can tell me how to get a custom background for my harley f150 2003 black/silver.......thanks man!

  • ok i think i got ur question but let me double check- r u asking how to have ur harley as ur background? if that is then, what u do is go the the pioneer website and DL the advic feed program. that will allow u to customize your splash(start up screen), background, cursor and more. Hope that helps

  • nice detail in ur vid man i havent tried it yet ill be installing it in two days but im sure it will work, thanks ill post again n let everyone know if i dont forget to!

  • Hey dude, thanks for taking the time to post this. The visual is way easier than the forums that try to explain. I did it and it worked great. My 1985 toyota just quadrupled in value!!

  • nice shit...

might go get this unit for my g35 2004 sedan

  • is there any reason the video button isnt lit up....

  • the only reason it wouldnt be lit is if it cant read the format to tell if it is a video.

  • for some reason the video button that would allow you to watch videos on the unit isnt lit up...any help

  • yeah its probably not in the format that the unit can read thats why. I tried using avi and it wont work on mine. wm or divx should work.

  • nvm that.... are u watching the movies through a dvd disc or off ur ipod... btw how do u watch videos using ur ipod... i already have the cable and everything

  • its through a dvd disc. It should be able to read it off your ipod as long as its in the right format. dvd or divx (divx works on the 900 but i dont know on the 700)

  • hey i was wondering if this works on the 700 bt because i tried it today with the information i got from buying an email and when i put in the dvd it said error 11 ?what did i do wrong? please help

  • I am not to sure what you did because I didnt buy anything for this bypass. if your wire harness looks the same then it should work just like the 900bt models. hope that helps

  • the AVIC-F700BT does NOT read DVD discs, only the 900 and 90. Check the specs on Pioneer's website. You may already know that by now.

  • you can still play vids on your ipod though

  • Yangej25,

I got this installed on my H2 by a local stereo place, I got the bose module to make it work for the bose system, I noticed that all my chimes and clicks for the door and seatbelts dont work now, is this a normal thing?

I went back to the stereo place, they saying that this is normal for aftermarket unit, and will need another module specific for retaining the chimes and onstar, I THIS TRUE?

  • I am not a tech, but i dont think that the installation on the 900bt would have caused the clicks and chimes to stop. it should be a plug n play and shouldnt stop any factory safety features. i have worked on plenty of cars and the chimes and clicks all have there own wire/fuze so they may have cut something or blown something and dont know what. most stereo place have teen (inexperianced teens/young adults) install the stereo; that may be problem. Sorry this may not help as much as you'd like

  • you any need a module for the onstar feature as they said though, but the chimes clicks still shouldnt have stoped

  • I switched the yellow mute to the slot between the two blacks. spliced the yellow, green, and black all together. everything works accept my bluetooth and usb. you have any clue?

  • i am not to sure why they wouldnt work. my guess with the usb is that the wire might not be good but the bluetooth i'm not sure. I dont have any problems like that with my unit... maybe one of the other guys can help you. sorry

  • i installed it myself. i never connected the green wire to the parking brake switch. do i need to do that and splice the wire coming from the parkin brake switch to the yellow, green, and black that i previously spliced?

btw this is a very helpful video. thanks for takin the time to share it.

  • also... when i plug in my sandisk 8mb to the usb... the sandisk lights up, but the reciever wont recognize it. the usb icon doesnt glow.

  • You have to get teh harness for onstar for your car. It retails for $150. I am an installer at best buy and we sell it. If you went to a custom shop them they should have had this and known about it. I suggest you dont go back there

  • whut up man? i have a f90bt does it work for that too?

  • yeah its exactly the same thing

  • thanks bro! just did this on a friends car today.

  • I have the 700BT... my question is does this disable the mute feature when you take a call via bluetooth? (I also have an STi, btw!)

  • Sry but i am not to sure. I didnt notice any problem with mine but i dont think it will considering it isn't really pluging into anything ( in my case anyways). What year sti haha

  • thank u do need a switch

  • no you dont need a switch.

  • ok thanks for your time i figured it out

  • I need to retain my mute function for onstar, can I still run this bypass & retain my muting function if able to get another wire for slot between the black wires?

  • yeah it will still work if you use a different wire. Its just that most people (like myself) dont really need the mute wire that is why. But answering your question then yes you can use a different wire

  • what did you end up doin i have the on star as well and about to buy the deck

  • will this work for the pioneer p4000

  • it will be the same concepts but i dont know where the wires would be...sry

  • Hey man yangej25, need help on wiring the Back up/rearview camera, someone help on how/where to connect the power etc

  • Hey... i dont have a back up cam but this is what i would do.... get a test light and find the reverse wire for your reverse light and connect it there.

  • Will this work on an 2007 Avalanche ??

  • yes this bypass will work for any car

  • Now to use that switch .. what did u do to connect it to the ground wire? .. did u run ur yellow and black wire .. from the harnest to the switch .. and the other side of the switch pigtailed into the ground wire?

  • yeah... but it really is best to just ground it straight onto the car.

  • okay to clarify again, connect the yellow after moving it to th 4th slot to the green park/brake lead and ground it to the car(body of the car) ?// correct?

  • yup

  • yes. you are going to want to ground on to the car and not the ebrake or park brake otherwise there will be no use for this bypass.

  • DO YOU MEAN JUST MOVE THE MUTE(YELOW) IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TWO BLACK WIRES AND "CONNECT "IT STRAIGHT TO THE GREEN WIRE? just to clarify

  • so what do you actually do with the green and yellow wire if you are not using a switch?

  • you ground them straight onto the car. if you put the green wire on the ebrake or park brake then there is no use for these bypass

  • Comment removed

  • let me make this clear.. the ebrake wire you grounded and the yellow and black wire you moved to the 4th slot (between the 2 black ones) and grounded grounded that wire also??

  • yup

  • So do I have to disconnect the green wire from my ebrake or do I just leave it and connect the mute wire onto it?

  • It's actually better if you just ground both the green wire and the mute wire straight onto the car. that way it you can always use the full spec of the 900bt whenever you want to. dont forget to move the mute wire first though.

  • so the green wire doesn't even have to be plugged into the ebrake?

  • Nope.. its better to just ground onto the car itself that way you dont have to pull over and park and what not. thats why the bypass needs to be done so you can use the dvd player or input address while you are driving

  • ok thanks man

  • i bought the pioneer 900bt and installed it yesterday 2/7/09. and i followed your instructions on how to bypass the parking break wired. i switched the mute wire in the av harness between the two black wires and everything. connected them both to a toggle switch and ive had NO LUCK! what did i do wrong? is there a certian toggle switch i have to use? if ANYone can give me some advice on this i would appreciate it!

  • hey. sorry for taking so long to reply back to you. i am not sure why yours is not working. you really dont need a switch like mine. i actually just switch it back to grounding it straight on the car. it works better that way for me. i'd say recheck your wiring. mute wire to the 4th pin on the bottom row (thinking off the top of my head but check with the vid). Sorry not much help i am sure.. good luck

  • i buy the avic f900bt today, the dealer said he do the bypass !! but doesn't work grrr !!

so tomorrow i will check by myself with your video !!

    I hope is working =) =)
