  • I remember Chico,

We were sitting @ Rosa's watching Melvin Taylor play and Chico said if he was a female I would F____ him. We both busted up.

  • Does anyone know this song?

  • Classic 8-bar blues, w/no lyrics or 'straight' melody: Could fairly be called an original instrumental, (but a good chance it's "Ain't Nobody's Business").

  • To re-affirm my 11-month-old post: Rarely does a day go by that I don't meet someone who's looking to see Chico's show. Informing them of his death is my least favorite job. There's still much sadness on the blues scene.

  • I am so sad to hear he passed away the other day I had hoped to share the stage with him sometime.

    peace

  • Chico Banks: Visitation, 7PM. Service 8PM. Wed 12/10. United Missonary Baptist Church, 4242 W Roosevelt Rd, Chicago... Our memory of Chico's joyous virtuoso guitar playing and friendly charisma will go on forever, as will sadness for his loss. His absence leaves a hole in the blues scene that will never be filled.

  • That is terrible news. We were planning a visit to BLUES to see him there this month. He will be missed.

  • As a friend of Chico's, barely a day goes by without someone asking me: "When's Chico gonna play?", the hopeful look on their face turning to shock and sadness.

  • He protected and served the groove as Shad Harris would say. I'm gonna miss you lightening bolt, but I'll see you again!

  • What a sweet man, a great player. Missed by many.

  • Yes, RIP Chico....and we lost Odetta yesterday, too.

  • I heard today that Chico passed away on the December 2nd. God bless Chico Banks. I will miss him as a friend and fellow musician.

  • I saw him last month in Chicago for the first time. WOW!!!!! I fell in love with Blues music. His Sax player was the best I have ever heard anywhere.

  • Yes, Gianluca, you were the sax on this set. It was a very tight, very bluesy show. I believe it was an indication that Chico was about to leave "fusion" aspects of his style behind & become the huge international blues star his fans knew he could be. Chico leaves us as a great success: He made his audience wait to the very end for the best shows he ever performed. We will always want more.

  • Straight up CHicago BLues Yall!!! I love it!!

  • Awesome guitarist. I love the emotion he puts in to his playing.

  • This clip doesn't necessarily reflect it, but Chico is a very talented and creative guitar player, very fun to watch and tremendous stage presence - a real warm gentleman as well....

  • I'm not sure what you mean by this clip not 'reflect(ing) it'. I've been to well over 100 shows featuring Chico on guitar, and find this to be an accurate example of his playing.
