Pierre always was a great inspiration for me and definitely the reason i started drumming. I once helped him set up his kit and he is a very kind, sweet man too...

Definitely one of the greater drummers from the Netherlands. Listen to Brainbox and Trace also! ;)

@ wolfsbarge: "Best" (if there is such thing in music) has always been confused with most popular.

I must add, though, that Cesar Zuiderwijk is a fantastic rock drummer (one of the best ;-)). Pierre van der Linden's playing has got more Jazz influences.

yeh, but considering the size of his kit when you compare it to peart's kit, it's no surprise to see peart get a bit more variation in a solo.

I saw Pierre do this very drum solo just a week ago - it was absolutely astounding, He is the greatest, bar NONE. I watched with my jaw practically on the ground - it was THAT GREAT!

He is a fantastic guy and happily signed my CD, (as did all the wonderful Focus guys) even though he must have been worn out after that effort. He is an absolute genius, it was a pleasure to see him and meet him and he is one of my true heroes of music.

Always when the topic drumming is mentioned on Dutch television Cesar Zuiderwijk is considered to be Hollands best drummer (haha!) , and nobody ever is critical and comments on that. I aske you, who is fooling who? This is the only one, and could be placed in the same line like Jon Hiseman and Ginger Baker. Zuiderwijk doesn't have this skills.
