John did not play a solid body. The 325 looked like a solid body and for many years I thought it was one, but it was a semi hollow body with lots of free air space inside the actual body.

Is it the amp or the pickups that is primarily giving this guitar such a "chuck" with the clean tone? I really like that tone and i can't really get it on my ibanez proline as well as i would like, but i am always up for a pickup swap.
