@amgj95 The rustler VXL with the brushless motor will do 45 mph stock. If you get the right LIPO battery and right gearing it can reach 70. I would suggest the Rustler over the bandit because its more stable and rugged and just better over all.

i had a vxl that i used a 3s lipo on. i was replacing the spur gear every 4-5 run. each run was easily 30minute tho. still, the plastic spur could only last just so long with all that power. its easier to replace the spur than the gears in the tranny tho.

@999benhonda Right on. Even with all that power, it seems pretty often to change the spur. Maybe your slipper was too tight or your gear mesh was slightly off? Either way, it IS better, easier, and cheaper to replace a spur than anything inside the tranny.

Hey, I have the stock base rustler(not VXL) It has a Titan 12T motor, stock esc, and a 6 cell 4500 mAh battery. How can I make mine as fast as yours? can I?

Like can I get a brushless motor, new esc, and a lipo? Do I need to make any other mods? How much do you think it would cost and how fast do you think it would go?

@geedunk13 You will need a brushless motor and ESC combo (either the vxl combo or a mamba/sidewinder combo or a cheap 1/10 combo,) and you will probably strip the gears in your transmission soon after that, so metal (vxl) parts to replace those (there's two, but can't remember what they are.) To go even faster get a 2 or 3 cell LiPo battery. 2300-8000 mah I belive is common. I used a123 batteries because I think they are superior in most ways.

@y0rkie1011 Its really long and complicated because I used iMovie 2008 (on my mac) which doesn't have slow-motion built in (?!?) So exported the clips I wanted to slow down, Used a 3rd party program called JES Deinterlacer to convert the clips to slow-mo movies, then imported the slow-mo movies into iMovie and spliced the clips into the rustler vid. The latest iMovie has slow-mo and fast-mo so this would be waaaaaay easier and more simple.

This isn't yOrkie1011 but in iMovie 09(what I have) at the beginning of the clip is shows a little blue gear with a arrow pointing down, you click the arrow and then select clip adjustments, then it under clip it should show speed. Yea I use it and it is really easy to do. Guess 08 doesn't have it

Anything with VXL means brushless. I think the non=brushless version is the XL-5. Both models have a training mode that cuts power in half so you can practice without going too fast.
