There is no way the military will not seek to exploit it. In fact, a great deal of nanotech is being paid for by the DoD & DARPA. The control of the very small is too big of a temptation for the military industries to resist. Nanites in your morning breakfast, nanites in the air and water - to help you vote this way or that, to help you buy this brand rather than that brand, nanites to reassemble your thoughts and memories and beliefs in favor of some predecided politically correct package deal. Atheists or otherwise, science/academia has become as much of a cult as Christianity ever was. New Dark Ages loom just ahead.

There is no way the military will not seek to exploit it. In fact, a great deal of nanotech is being paid for by the DoD & DARPA. Moreover, the big $cience corporations are all inter-owned by each other (Monsanto owns stock in Baer which owns stock in Westinghouse which owns stock in Viacom which owns stock in Sony which owns stock in Monsanto, etc etc) - and the military has its fingers in all of those pies. So yes, I fully expect the standard greed & exploitation to come with this technology.

i was thinking of doing something nano for my thesis, but my lecturer advises against it because its still so very new, and information is difficult to find, and he has a point there, and i'd need years to figure out something epic. but im still very into it, Its my main goal, nanorobotics.

Those funny looking tube things at the start look like the tubular stuff found in some chem trail residue. Nano fibers clinging to each other working together under your skin once absorbed. ok, in the quest for a uniformly peaceful society, we as a society, have agreed that certain actions and behaviors are not ideal in order for the potential society to work. Therefore, if we cannot use mind control nano-bots on miscreants. Perhaps exile is a better option rather than prison. We could explore one's right to legal suicide as another alternative. and BTW, last time I checked, there are laws against fires that are not done safely and fire to property.

we shouldn't be afraid of corrupt people, we should stand up to them. Segregate, those who wish to conform from those who don't. But one Judge should not make the decision. Instead, a community should evaluate the threat and not punish, but exile(maybe on a time basis).
For the Ad instance, I agree. We shouldn't be subjected to the constant bombardment of this every day nuisance. If I want a product, I should be able to look it up and browse through the ads.

I want you to fully understand my intentions wtih these replies. I am definately for nano tech, I'm just worried about the in-body uses. I can see a plethora of incredible applications inside the body; curing cancer, diseases, ending obesity, and prolonging life. I believe it would be necessary to draw the line when nano bots enter the brain.
If there is a strict check and balance system in place for this tech inside the body I think the fear would slowly fade.

@loomround You remind me of something, don't know who's prophesy this was, but someone said something in the not-too-distance future, people will be injected with a chemical that is control by one person or group and this group can deactivate mass population base on their age and health status, but also trigger other mass action at WILL. Sounds like nanotechnology can do this.

@sibko with all respect, I'd have to disagree. You seem to have the idea that by creating a non monetary system we can enhance the lives of people. The only way that a non monetary system that doesn't look for profits is put in place is via the government.
If the government is needed to subsidize nano technology in order for nano technology to be successful then nanotechnology is no more efficient than any other means of cleaning water or creating clean energy.

Why should this apply any less to people's actions? What scientific technology could reveal individual preferences? The more I study science, the more I think we are the creation of someone/something more advanced than us. Nanotechnology looks like the progression toward that point of advancement where we will eventually be building self-sustainable life from the manipulation of matter at the smallest scale.
Just like the cells that make up our body have mechanical properties, I can see us starting to create cells and learning to build them together by giving them reproductive properties.

Think about it. You are god and you create a bird. You think, "Wow that turned out great, maybe I should make another animal." Why would you start from scratch? Why wouldn't you just build on previous designs that already work? Its just like engineering cars. Every time we make a new car, we don't reinvent another engine, we add onto the existing design. You make a new bird to fit the living environment of the plains rather than the forest. It makes logical sense.
