They are fucking retarded if they think this will work, everyone knows that just because someone downloads a DVD they probably don't do half the other shit in the advert, they also seem to think people would consider downloading a film immoral or wrong when of course these people are probably in the minority.
What a pathetic advert. Not funny, references to stealing food and 'doing things on the cheap'. They're fighting a lost battle and IMO the record companies have everything coming to them for being such money grabbing b*stards during the past 30 odd years....
get yo asses down to pc world where you can buy 50 blank dvds for ten quid, which makes one dvd 20 pence. this is why i wont pay fifteen quid for an official dvd. if they dropped their prices there would be no need for pirated discs!
What is your view on those who argue that Nigel is a modern day Robin Hood, stealing from the fatcats to give to the poor (ie those of us who aren't multi-millionaires in the film/record industry?)
I agree.. The funny thing about this ad is they're trying to make a jingle that people will sing to 'pirates' to stop pirating.. but in all fairness I don't mind being called a knock off nigel.. I'd be pretty proud in all honesty
LOL! Back in December I was at the cinema with my Jiu Jitsu teammates when the original Knock-Off Nigel ad came on. Our Purple Belt said loudly "I don't fucking blame him. At least he's not paying £12 to watch this!"
According to the article "Industry Trust for IP Awareness 'knock-off Nigel' by Sell! Sell!", viewable on the "brandrepublic" website, this piece of crap was commissioned by Liz Bales, Director General of the Industry Trust for IP Awareness. Even they're ashamed of it, which is why there are no references to them on the "Knock off Nigel" website. If it really annoys you, I urge you to send her an email at "info(at)copyrightaware(dot)co(dot)uk", and tell her what you think of it.
Oh noooo. Me and my friend in our drunken-ness were singing this very loudly to someone's dad called Nigel =S eek. Can't watch this without cringing! =/
Surely EVERYONE is a knock-off Nigel then?

nigel downloads copyrighted movies for free
he's breaching copyright law
he's comitting theft of revenue, because the deal is that you pay for the content.
this is the same as saying "i refused to pay for a haircut because it isnt stealing, the barber didnt lose anything", it is theft of _revenue_.
CCmachine 3 years ago
So, does that make it acceptable to steal poor Nigel's laptop?
piflover 3 years ago
1 DVD costs around £20.
if he's stolen just 30+ movies even over sereval years, that's around £600+ worth of content, and most laptops are worth £300 to £500.
so yes, it may be. the point is that pirates need to be punished ...
