This movie isn't actually as stupid as it sounds... it IS stupid, but there were funny lines, and the movie was pretty good. It's no worse than some of the stupid American horror films. Plus I think anyone would rather see this than Ultraviolet. No matter how bad a movie is, don't forget, it is better than Ultraviolet.
Any chance the film is meant to be tongue-in-cheek? There is a long-standing academic tradition concerning the construction of lesbianism as demonic so as to mediate its threat to the heterosexual order (which mainstream film normally maintains). See Camille Paglia's "The Daemon as Lesbian Vampire" in Sexual Personae or Terry Castle's The Apparitional Lesbian. So perhaps the film is being ironic (although it will likely drawn an unironic crowd as well).
That sounds a little overly sensitive. It could be the whole - vampires eat/kill people and feed off them like cattle that makes them portrayed as evil. (in the case of this movie) with the lesbians thrown in just to make a redicoulas movie even more outrageous.Not that Lesbianism has never been used in such a way. People will go see it because they enjoy that sort of comedy, and there are bound to be people who enjoyed Shawshank Redemption (like myself) who will probably see this film. I understand what you are saying. But its not all a joke is it - the sex scenes will be aimed at the sexual arousal of men. You might see it as a joke but this image of "2 women having sex for the entertainment of men" and "they really want a man to satisfy them" is harmful to real lesbians and women in general. Women have been terrorised out their homes by having "lesbians" shouted at them by gangs of yobs. So forgive me if I don't find this hysterically funny.
I accept the point you're making, in that it's a harmful representation, but I doubt the film will have that much of a widepread effect. All this is, is a film with violence, humour orientated towards males with the added sex appeal of hot lesbians frolicking about.

A bit up yourself aren't you? It's a comedy, it's not trying to be anything like those 2 films. People will go see it because they enjoy that sort of comedy, and there are bound to be people who enjoyed Shawshank Redemption (like myself) who will probably see this film. Movies don't have to be highly acclaimed award winners to be clever films. You never know, the timing and delivery of jokes might make this film stand out above other comedies, then again it might not.

No, not at all, I have a fairly respectable IQ and I am going to see this because it's FUN.
Not EVERY film has to be intelligent or carry a sub meaning to be good.
Sometimes people go to the cinema, because it's a form of escapism. So please stop preaching on about all this bullshit that "only low IQ teenagers" go to see.
People like to go to the cinema with friends aswell and watching something intelligent or depressing is not always the most fun.

Are they going to do a sequel about gay male vampire killers? This film seems like the worst kind of sensationalised male fantasy type film. It is childish, sexist and pathetic. It is not something you would expect to see in 2009. Lesbians and gay men do exist in society but they are normal people who happen to be attracted to their own sex. I understand what you are saying. But its not all a joke is it - the sex scenes will be aimed at the sexual arousal of men. You might see it as a joke but this image of "2 women having sex for the entertainment of men" and "they really want a man to satisfy them" is harmful to real lesbians and women in general. Women have been terrorised out their homes by having "lesbians" shouted at them by gangs of yobs. So forgive me if I don't find this hysterically funny.

I accept the point you're making, in that it's a harmful representation, but I doubt the film will have that much of a widepread effect. The majority of people will see it's a joke, and it won't make them think any less of these people. I feel some people will see it the other way, but that's a the minority of them. I seriously doubt that this film's going to change anyone's opinion, and I think most will know that the film isn't really being serious at all and that real people aren't like that.
