  • a very passive laydown there, what a a shame

  • TB plays poker far more aggressively than I. I started playing when I was 18 with 50free2play.co.cc poker bonus... I figured out heavy's tell, he adjusts? his ammo strap.

  • aain ppl calling him a donk - i had the impression that hellmuth has a super tight image. .. on that basis i dont actually think its a bad fold

  • What a donk

  • i thoug i was a bad poker player but damm....

  • you could tell by phils anger that he wasnt rolling a jack im all in here all day.. yeah maybe he was on monsters like kings or aces but as soon as u see phil get angry its payday right here in this spot

  • PWNED

  • why wouldnt tony call that the only hand that is ahead of him would be kings thats a terrible lay down

  • KK

    AJ

    KJ

    QJ

    44

  • I understand it would have been risky to call but odds where to call, but i still think i would have called.

  • the hand is fake. hellmuth didnt have 77 and tony ma didnt have JT. paul philips already proved this beyond reasonable doubt on his blogsite, and its not the only hand theyve faked.

  • i love how all you people are saying you would have called here but a j10 isnt a store hand here. AJ, KJ, and QJ are all very playable hands. i would have liked to see the entire hand played out though but its still hard to believe the guy didnt even think about calling. he had an instafold for some reason

  • Only 1 Jack left buddy, and with that 1 Jack, only A K Q 2nd hole cards could beat him. I'd put him on AK.

  • i know? maybe you need to read my post again. i never said i would have folded. i simply stated there were things that could have beat him. i dont think i could have passed up that hand against hellmuth. im just curious as to why the guy instafolded instead of atleats thinking about it

  • Kk, sorry for jumping to assumptions.

  • i have seen so many videos of phil hellmuth most of the times he reraise when he got pairs on his hands, i dont know why he fold that hand.... just call...

  • Phil could have had a set of Kings or Jack A-K- etc. Tony D has no balls i would have called.

  • way to go hellmuth, you just proved you are a world class poker player right there and all these bloggers who have no clue to get a way from hands

  • r u stupid tony D wtf did he think phil has ?

  • well, he's thinking his ten is a bad kicked if the opponent do happen to have a jack also, plus the probability of opponent having fullhouse 4, K, and even a fullhouse jack if the opponent have another pair... well, he just didn't expect or think some1 would raise with 2 pair while one pair is community cards...

  • The only thing I can say is it must have been on the bubble. The one thing we dont see is how the hand opened, or how play had been up till then. Still.....whew that is hard to justify.

  • Instant call. Against Phil there lol.

Even if you burn, going down in that board with that hand, is worth it. I most likely know I would of called there, with 80% being secure I have the best hand. That acting wouldn't of scare me, i would of rather lost then give that pot to him:)

  • what a bad play. wow!

  • idiot player !! omg :D

  • hehe xD

  • asian noob

  • that's not a bluff. that's just a fawkin retarded player. who the hell folded trip's? especially if you've chased and got it on the river. a simple reraise should not scare a player who has a pretty strong hand. if the guy all-in, the video would of been called "hellmuth caught bluffing".

  • how can you fold that?

    retard..

  • Ten is the worst possible kicker Hellmuth would play with a Jack...

  • that guy ust got OWNED by phil hellmuth.

    LMAO

  • He could've put Hellmuth on AJ,maybe KK even,we'd have to see how Hellmuth played it from the start,though...if ppl would play live games more instead of always playing online, they'd have a better understanding and appreciation of the psychology involved in poker

  • pretty stupid to bluff on a moment like that.

  • Raise for info?

  • Who is retarded enough to fold 3 jacks on a flop liek that,

  • rofl dummy..actually stupid

  • First, it is an edit, but the hand is real. They cut out all the time he took to think, that's why the chips disappear.

Second, it's a good laydown. The only thing he could beat was a bluff, and he decided that Hellmuth was't bluffing, because he rarely does big bet bluffs.

    It's a good laydown.

  • I don't even think Phil is bluffing!

What a terrible laydown. But then again, it's not my 10K that is in play. It is somewhat easier when you see the hole cards!

  • What the hell are you talking abount?? Phil obviously had the lead before the river. Plus he was a two fiver dwonards from there on.... Wake the fuck up dude... It WAS A BLUFF!!

  • I watched the video after reading randleman2's comment, and I think the hand is fake. You can see Tony D looking at his cards at 1.35 and he has a bunch of chips in his hands. But at 1.38, when he folds, he doesn't have the chips in his hand anymore. So I also think it's a tv edit

  • fuking idiot!

  • Thats why hellmuths the best!

No-One else in the world could'va made him fold that!

  • wtff???

  • That hand never really happened. Look at the camera angles all over again and look at his chips in the beginning of the hand and then at the end of the hand. It was a tv edit done by espn. He never laid down 3 jacks there. He actually was folding from another hand they were in.

  • @Randleman2

this isnt a tv edit retard espn would be sued for that

  • @surfsoccer11 people were talking about this hand when it came out on two plus two and they said it was edited that way, that hand didn't really play out that way. ESPN would not be sued for editing it out that way , what is hellmuth going to sue them for slander or tony d? Come on, please.

  • What a fuckin' idiot!!!!

  • Rubbish lay-down. That's when you say "all-in" because you have a set of Jacks. Donkey!

  • I dont understand why he would fold. he had trip jacks and the best possible hand phil couldve had was double aces. I wish I could slice that idiot with some gambit cards

  • actually the best hand he could have had was pocket KK so he would have had a set of Kings. not a pair of aces. and then if he had kings he would have the full house so its possible.

  • Am I watching right? He was pot committed with a solid hand - he should have put Hellmuth all-in and gone with it. That wasn't a good bluff (or semi-bluff). That was a donk lay down. Scared off by reputation.

  • what is he waiting for a full house? 4 jacks. hes got already 30 k in the pot and 40 k remaining almost half his chips in the pot.

  • I would like to know what he had..

  • He had J5 ;)

  • One time I played in a tournament. I got in a blind vs blind situation. I was in the bb with 102 the sb just called. I checked, flop comes 2-2-J I lead and bets almost the pot. He quickly calls. turn comes a 8, this time I bet almost 3 times more.the river comes another jack, board now shows 2-2-J-8-8 he bets all inn. 5 sec I fold and show. He shows his cards

after I showed mine. What did he have? Did I make a good or bad laydown? I will tell you what he had, if anyone wonders.

  • I made an writing error the board was 2-2-J-8-J:)

  • I'm wondering because that is a laydown. Did he have a J, the betting looked like he may of had one.

  • ya after I folded and show, he showed a jack;)

    Good read.

And It was not a difficult fold actually, how the hand was played. At the river, there was nothing I could really beat.

  • i put him on a jack after the flop action. good laydown though easier to make that read when it isnt your own money and you arnt holdin a boat :)

  • ya that`s correct:)

  • you seem like you know what your talking about, got any poker stories to?:)

  • right after I folded and showed, he showed me J5;) I know it`s tuff to fold a full house. But in this situation I felt it was an easy fold actually :)

  • whoever thinks this is fake is an idiot...im sorry

  • you are an idiot

  • Holding Knaves that find a third chum is great, but when a tight player counts your stack and raises you, he has Cowboys. With a third.

    Good fold, actually.

  • sickest laydown ever... phil gordon at 2000 world series folded kings pre-flop to hellmuth, who indeed had aces...

  • you people clearly dont understand.. phil does not usually get out of line and he playd it like he had something big.. i can understand the laydown... u dont just shove all ur chips in with that set... pros will make that kind of a laydown... amateurs wont.. he was wrong that time but i def understand the laydown

  • the guy was obvoiusly scaed of phil having pocket 4s or something but yea i dont thin i would of folded

  • u never fold a set of face cards u loser

not a good bluff, just dumb playing on that guys part

  • lol, i love people like you it makes me so much easy money

its not about what hand you have, its about whether the other guy has you beat or not

in this case no way would i lay it down, but if the board had 4 hearts on it and you have trip A's with no hearts you gotta fold almost everytime if there is a decent bet put out

same if the board had 78910 with 3 hearts or something, your trip 10's aint worth much at all anymore

  • just last week i caught a full house on the flop (pocket 9's with 9QQ on the board, i checked and 2 other guys in the pot checked, turn comes Q. i bet the pot and both call, river comes Q. so now i have 99 with 9QQQQ on the board

i had gone from flopping a full house to being beat by anyone who had a 10 or better in their hand. i check, guy bets pot other calls, i fold and both guys split the pot with an A each

  • That`s one of the dummest things I`ve ever heard.

  • Yeah, it was fake...edited by espn. Just start from min. 1:28 and just watch the guys hands.

  • i guess the d must stand for donkey

  • i kinda want to say this is fake(dont get mad people lol) just b/c who is stupid enuff to fold trip jacks heads up?

  • Its not a fake. This was the last hand before the break. thats why there was only the two players at the table.

  • Its not fake, Ive seen the video elsewhere. Just a shitty edit.

  • u can tell its fake...watch rite at 1:34 where Tony D doesnt have any chips in his right hand. When he checks his cards at the pocketcam, hes got chips in his right hand!

  • It's not fake you retard it's just the editing they did for the show, and yes, it was bad editing.

  • wot tha hell

wot an idiot, did i jus c him fold 3 of a kind jax? wot tha

  • its a fake. FAKE. watch the dealer dealing cards at 1.35 / 1.36

  • It's not fake, idiot, that's how they edited it down, when he looked back at his card they went to an earlier shot of him looking at his cards while the dealer was still dealing that hand out to the players.

  • I want see the TONY's face when he saw this film. What idiot fold.

  • the mistake that the Chinese man made was not thinking "What does Phil think I have." Had he done that, he would have realized that Phil was thinking "This China man is on a draw. . . So, I will reraise. Plus, I still have two outs (7's) if I am wrong." The Chinaman's mistake is that he thought his initial raise should have made it clear that he was holding trip jacks.

  • that wasnt good play by phil that was just absolutely terrible play by the other guy, the only hands that would have had him beat were KK, JQ, JK, JA, 4 hands in the entire deck and there was only 1 jack left.

    what an idiot

  • HELLMUNT could won with a 7 too.

  • don't forget pocket fours and J4

  • oh yeah lol, surprised i didnt mention the 44 and J4 must have been pretty tired that night

as for the 7... i dunno what your talking about but i think you are getting confused with catching it on the river, we arnt talking about that poker players tend to rely on playing the best odds rather than the chance a certain card can come on the river (which btw is about 4% to catch the 7, very low)

  • u guys r right....whoever edited this broadcast really fucked up....at 1:35 it appears they put footage of the pre flop action...either that or this shit is fake

  • yep.. whoever realised this is sik!

    its defo a fake

  • yeh not sure bout this clip..the dealer hands out more cards, tony is holding chips on pocket cam ..and the pocket cam show a black 10..when the screen shows a diamond...he wouldnt fold trips

  • ITS A FAKE!! Just pause the video at exactly 1:35 and 1:36, you can clearly see the dealer chucking out hole cards to the rest of the table. Why would he be dealing the first 2 if the action is a heads up pot between Tony D and Philly philly philly?

  • Phil Hellmuth is typically a very tight player. When he bets into you, you raise, and he comes back over the top, it's really hard to think your trip jacks are still good. Phil Hellmuth had a terrible read on his opponent, but it paid off for him as he got him to fold the much better hand.

  • terrible laydown, unless he thought his opponent had a full house, he should have at least called and see the river to see hellmuths cards

  • you are obviously a very good poker player.. that always works.. calling someone on the turn to call him on the river.. you are a big SHARK!

  • its a fake, look at the end when Tony D looks at his cards, then they go to the pocket cam and hes magically holding chips. its a concpiracy i tell ya!!!

  • no way phil would have bluffed if he knew the other guy's hand.

  • jajajaja its a a bad lay down but playing against phil helmuth probably would have don the same thing !

  • donkey

  • Pocket 4s would not have him beat.

Jack ace, Jack Queen would. I think he must have put him on Jack Ace.

  • What poker are you playing? 44 is beating J10 by miles here

  • you're right

  • exactly how can he fold??only pocket kings or king jack could have him beat!!tens a decent kicker likelihood phil has the other jack with a higher kicker is minimal too..

  • or pocket 4s. still a terrible laydown.

  • How could he lay that hand down
