  • Cannot believe that Stanwyck never received an Oscar.

  • this is kind of similar to James M Cain's other story, The Postman Always Rings Twice

  • Good movie, but no one lives today from these actors!!!!

  • WOW! This movie is so ahead of its time!!

  • esse vale a pena ver....que filme! um dos melhores!

Edward G. Robinson, Fred Macmurray & Barbara Stanwick juntos....

  • All this exchange 7 months ago over a movie tailor?

Sad commentary on life in Our world today

  • those dialogues......that voiceover......amazing

  • Yes, I killed him. I killed him for money and for a woman. I didn't get the money and I didn't get the woman. Pretty, isn't it?

  • Billy Wilder , Walter Wanger, Fritz Lange's Scarlette st. all the BEST!

  • Great classic!

  • You WISH they still made movies this good!!!

  • The Bollywood Version Is The Bestest Ever In Begining Endig Scee Everything Specialy The Song...

  • just watched this, it was soooo good!! man alive, walter neff, take me now!!! xD

  • Barbara's performance was amazing! Classic Film Noir "Bad Girl". Ed MacMurray was great too! Awesome movie!

  • this movie sucked

  • @Emron925A You are a moron! An absolute fuckin' piece of shit. Shove your witless opinion about one of the best film's ever made up your ass and chase it there.

  • @rktsncalnc calm the fuck down.... its just my opinion...... asshole

  • @Emron925A Fuck you and fuck your opinion, you ignorant putz! Your opinion doesn't mean shit, especially if you can't even appreciate one of the most influential movies in Hollywood's history, which is also no. 49 on the AFI's Top 100. Schmuck fuck!

  • @rktsncalnc you act as if your 15 years old. why are you so insecure? your smashing on your keyboard over someones opinion. you truly are a idiot. go fuck yourself.... its a free country, i can say whatever i want. FUCK THIS GAYASS MOVIE!

  • @Emron925A You know, I don't get whiny fucktards like you. You don't like something, that's your prerogative. And yeah, it's a free country, blah, blah, blah. But if you don't like something, why even bother commenting on it? Why waste everyone's time with your bullshit (and btw, grammatically flawed) opinion? Look, just go back to the comfort of your Saw, Matrix or Adam Sandler flicks, - or better yet, back up your momma's cunt - and stop showing the world how truly cinema-ignorant you are.

  • @rktsncalnc you know what? i dont get people like you. how am i wasting your time... your the one thats taking your time to talk shit about my opinion. your acting childish with your insecure nonsense. i know this is one of the best filmnoirs of all time but i dont enjoy them, and i have every right in the world not to like it, and i have every right in the world to comment on it... so stop getting butthurt and go fuck yourself.

  • @Emron925A The wonderful thing about that "it's a free country - I can say what I want" line is that it works both ways. You wanna shoot your mouth off and spew stupid shit? Don't be surprised when someone verbally bitch-slaps you in response, then. You know, I think it's you who's insecure. Why else would you comment on a thread for a film you hate unless you were courting an argument? Because you thrive on negative attention. Well, looks like you got it, you dysfunctional limp-dick dip-shit.

  • @rktsncalnc Exactly. your such a tough guy, verbally bitchslapping me for having a different opininion. and you dont have to comment on something, hoping to court an argument. thats retarded. its funny, how insecure you really are and how you state that im insecure.look at you, your cussing at me because i dont like a movie. your truly an ignorant human being. just leave it alone before you tear a vain out of your headcalling me dysfunctional, psshh, by the looks of things, your dysfunctional.

  • @Emron925A You'll forgive me for not feeling shamed about using profanity by someone who peppers their argument with homophobic epithets ...motherfucker! But hey, while I got you on the ropes, let me ask you something: what exactly was the point of voicing your rather ignorant and banal opinion? What were you hoping to accomplish with your 3-word review, anyway? BTW: it's sweet of you to concern yourself about my health, but worry not. I'm not even breaking a sweat slapping you down over here.

  • @rktsncalnc alright. im done with your bullshit. your not even making sense anymore... FUCK YOU AND FUCK THIS GAYASS FILMNOIR. IT FUCKING SUCKS. your a fucking internet thug. you would never say this to my face so go back to watching these dumbass movies with your mom's boyfriend and go break a sweat on his gooch. fucking insecure FAGGOT! this movie sucked. now go write a fuckin report on why i hate this gayass movie cause you have nothing better to do...

  • @Emron925A You're so pretty when you're angry. Quite the vivid Mom's boyfriend scenario you've painted there. Are you writing from experience, or is this a fantasy of yours? And again with the homophobic tirades - at least you're consistent, which is in keeping with someone who likes to talk shit, yet acts indignant when someone calls him on it. Now, I'll let you get back to what I imagine is your favorite activity: masturbating to Transformers 2 ("Oh, Bumblebee. Bumblebee! Bumble...UH!")

  • @rktsncalnc lol im not gonna lie... that end part was funny but i hate transformers too. im more into the crime dramas such as goodfellas, godfather, scarface, casino, etc... i just dont like filmnoirs. and thanks for calling me pretty, it really showed your inner self.

  • Film noir at it's finest! The cast, the dialogue, the shadows, the atmosphere. Classic!

  • it sounds a lot like the postman always rings twice with john garfield and the gorgeous lana turner. did anyone pick that up? ive never seen this, but i have postman, and i'm thinking about this one. never seen a stanwyck movie before but would love to. someone tell me if its practically the same story or not, so i don't essentially get the same one twice! thanks!

  • I <3 Lola :)

  • one of the ten best movies ever-so dark-so powerful-an everlasting masterpiece!

  • keyes was such a baller!

  • if you like to see the history of movies watch * BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy

  • This film still sizzles!

  • Fred MacMurray's lousy acting is the worst thing in this movie . great movie though

  • @my1990ful It's funny every time he says 'baby'.

  • @Jettie12 Exactly

  • best film noir !

  • talk about classic film noir...

    this has it all.....OUTSTANDING

    5 star upload.....

  • i loved when we read this in school :)

  • its great that we learn about film noir in highschool....it will definitely help me later in life.

  • Yes you are right. Much luck .. ;-)

  • Yes, the days when pretty women in movies weren't called sluts and whores, but dames and dolls. Awesome

  • this is the perfect example of what film noir is.

  • Can I Have Her?

  • film noir at its best a CLASSIC from 1944.... and i'm glad i own it....!!!

  • this movie is incredible! I want to get it on DVD

  • Of course the movie's great, ca va sans dire: But what a magnificent preview!

  • The golden age of Hollywood, when the best movies were created. Today it's all special effects and no script.

  • @franklindavid i couldnt agree more with u...

  • @franklindavid

confusing nostalgia with quality of a film is ignorant

  • @franklindavid I couldn't agree with you more. Then again, back then people were mouthbreathing morons, either.

  • @franklindavid a lot of movies do have scripts unless thats just your way of saying they blindly make movies nowadays. whats wrong with special effects? i watch a movie to escape this pathetic fucking world for an hour or two. this world this planet sucks your tiny dick. this planet sucks. so i watch movies to be entertained and escape this. i dont give a fuck about realism. all these movies back then are realism and realism sucks. i prefer fantasy/entertainment. so fuck your film noir shit

  • @Rebldoomer i understand about escaping the world and stuff but they way you explain these classic, and brilliant films makes people think things like this for instance, you have what we call "bad taste in movies". theres no problem watching just movies with special effects, but movies are just like books. you can read "war and peace" or you can read "captain underpants". Where as you can watch eye candy like "2012 or Avatar" or you can watch "citizen kane or double indemnity".

  • this movie is really great! actualli noir film are great! watch also MILDRED PIERCE, a woman's film, the plot is incredible!

don't exist more movies like that!

  • film noir*

  • Watched this in the 70s at the Biograph Theater In Georgetown and LOVED It. Watched again with my daughters a few years ago and they loved it. Classic and timeless!

  • thats the guy from FLUBBER

  • I want to see this film, as I'm just becoming interested in film noirs, but I must admit that MacMurray looks really bland to me. Not underplayed, like Bogart or Andrews, but just dull. I love Stanwyck and Robinson, though.

  • If it didn't show up that way, my comment was supposed to be in response to k13579s

  • best noir of all time!

  • Instead of just throwing out something why not elaborate and let us know what you believe is wrong with the story line.

  • You responded to someone named 'thevideohater'. Check out his profile; he states boldly that hating on videos is what he does.

  • What a random thing to dedicate an entire YouTube profile for.

  • brilliant Film Noir classic..i love this film...i think i've seen it about a million times...lol.

  • Fred MacMurray Happy Centenary - Te recordardamos

  • Edward G Robinson is a GENIUS!!!

  • sure! he always played villains but in real life he

    was an extraordinary good people

  • leonor: I don't think he's a 'villain' in Indemnity. And he has done roles where he seems to represent authority.

Check out 'The Stranger', it's on YT.

  • my favorite film noir of all time!..a 10/10.

    Barbara Stanwyck was sooo hot!..lol.

  • Fred MacMurray was a hottie back then. Who knew the dad on My Three Sons could be so sexy?

  • i've wanted to kiss stanwyck for so long

  • If you loved this(who didn't?),you might also love "The File on Thelma Jordan",also with Miss Stanwyck from 1949.

  • Is it my imagination, or does Phyllis never once blink in the entire film, making her eyes look like a snake's? This has to be the toughest performance of Stanwyck's stellar career.

  • A noir classic that influenced many films to come. Lawrence Kasdan's "Body Heat" (1981) is a near-ripoff of this movie, only with naked stuff.

  • Only nowhere near as good.

  • yes coralarch, the door always worried me too.not so much that it spoiled what is probably my favourite noir.what a great cast .fred just right edward.g and the incomparable Stanwyck.

  • Never mind, lluven- it's such a great film that we can forgive this tiny error! What a top trio of power-house actors!

  • There's only one thing wrong- that door wouldn't have opened outwards to shield Phyllis- fire regulations meant that doors had to open inwards.

  • wrong, there were shitty fire regulations back then and there was no efficient way to enforce these rules.

  • I read somewhere that those regulations had been enforced before this film was made.

  • How did "Going My Way" win the Oscar for Best Picture in 1944? Forget "Citizen Kane"; this was the biggest robbery in the history of the Academy.

  • the best film noir ever!

  • Totally agree with nick4alex. This is my absolute fav movie of all time, well as far as classics and noir anyway.

  • couldn't agree with you more...you and me have very good taste..lol.
